Aghhh, this, it's okay then, in any case we did tell him to watch it in the future, though we are pretty much done with the show now sadly. :(

2025-07-12 06:18:29 +0000 UTCAbout Nobara’s death - I disagree on that being a writing mistake, I think it makes sense if we get back to Sakura parallels. Realistically Sakura had no business being anywhere near the Naruto vs Sasuke. It just doesn’t make sense in terms of power scaling and she should know it, but the show kept her because she is a part of the original group, but the author didn’t know what to do with her, so she stayed alive, constantly putting herself in situations that should have killed her, getting saved and crying. She was a burden and it was annoying. I think Nobara is the perfect Sakura: she is so much more likable, charismatic and interesting, and in terms of power - she is capable as a regular sorcerer, but she can’t hang against the special grades since she is not some insanely talented prodigy. So when her emotions lead her to bite more than she can chew - she pays for it, because it’s JJK, not Naruto, I think the whole Mahito and Sukuna laughing at Yuji and Junpei in S1 already showed that perfectly. Also I think her character arc was mostly about being a bit of closed person, who doesn’t get attached easily, but she still got close with all the first and second year students(since they are shown), they are important to her and she isn’t willing to sit it out when everyone else is in grave danger, so she went in anyway. So her saying that life was good is her way of saying that she doesn’t regret gambling her life and losing, those people are worth it for her. I think that also makes her a great contrast to all the modern/western Mary Sue characters. What’s questionable for me in terms of writing is putting most of that in one episode, would be better if we gradually got a bigger part of her backstory earlier, I think that would make her death more impactful, but these kinds of flashbacks is such an anime trope and focusing on her could have been a tradeoff for something else, so I am pretty happy with how it was handled.

2025-07-12 00:23:40 +0000 UTCSo in one of the previous episodes I promised to say what I Sasho spoiled, he said “Nobara’s technique will be very effective here” when she just met Mahito’s clone and people immediately realized that she will help Yuji, completely unnecessary in my opinion, even though it’s minor. So it’s a small thing, but I decided to highlight it because I was afraid that it would happen again with something more important.
