Timesaver (or rather, fiddling-saver) I've been working on...

Hi Guys!

So I've managed to get on a bit better today and I thought I'd share this nice little timesaver I've been working on.

I knew that iron bars were going to be needed for this little section here, but getting them to all line up while also assembling the two parts quickly enough for the hot glue to not dry on me AND not damage any of the more delicate (pre podge) bricks at the front was...fiddly, at best!

So you can absolutely do it that way and use sharpened cocktail sticks, but I wanted something that would reliably get those bars all lined up and vertical, evenly spaced without them wobbling all over the place or damaging anything.

So I had fabio quickly run up this design idea I had! Didn't take him long, so it wasn't costly, and it lets you line up all the bars as easily as cutting and bevelling a straight line along the bottom, using that to indent the top while lining it up, cutting another line, and voila. It smoothly slots into place without worry while your glue is still hot, and gives you plenty of time to make sure the top and bottom pieces of foam are nicely lined up at the sides  - without worrying about the damn bars every time!

It ALSO lets us make a variant with BENT bars, which you could totally do with styrene, but would be even more of a pain... but with this method, they should just slot into place!

This is a nice cheap quick addition, so this one will be part of the questgivers pack :)

Hope that's a nice little insight for you guys, I'm gonna go get the script sorted, because I feel like I may split this video in two or something, it's getting unwieldly!

More soon, and thank you all so much for your patience and support. I'm finding the cold is really affecting the Long Covid recovery*, so being able to pay my bills reliably is insanely reassuring in the current environment! It is absolutely helping me recover faster :)

*I got this big long bad patch right when temperatures dropped, and I didn't think the slight cold was a problem because I was wrapped up, not shivering etc. But I think the cold air has been having a strong negative effect even when my core temperature was fine, FAR more than normal (18 degrees C isn't that cold!).

Hopefully that's some info that might help someone else struggling with anything similar. I'm trying to keep bills down by staying in one room where possible, which seems the best solution. Again, hope this helps anyone in a similar situation.

I'm constantly working on video formats, so this is interesting info :) My biggest obstacle right now (other than covid) is the sheer editing time that creating all these videos would entail - more editing = less new content in videos, more repeated content (albeit in perhaps better organised chunks) This is something I'm hoping to remedy when the channel has a little more funding and I can afford to hire and assistant and/or editor for videos!

These types of STLs are ones I'm more likely to print/use. This is looking awesome, can't wait for the video! Speaking of, you mentioned unweildlyness and breaking it up. For me, videos would be most useful in formats such as short overview of completed project, long overview with your narrating steps and details, and finally episodic videos that detail and get into some specific steps of the primary building process. Timestamps and links to how something was done in a previous video are appreciated, but I find them super fiddly when I'm in the middle of crafting and can't find the instructions for the step I'm on. This may also help with overall YouTube metrics as well as the shorts are more likely to get lots of views to the end and step-wise videos can be posted here for Patrons. Thanks!
