I can relate to will heavily with the black widow story. I caught a red back slide as a child in my bug catcher, I kept her and would feed her smaller bugs or flys. She also eventually had babies and my mum got so freaked out and worried I’d be bit, she threw it in the fireplace. It was a sad day. But being a 7 year old Australian girl hiding a red back in my plastic bug box for a couple of weeks was a lot of fun.

I dislike black widows too (The needle legs send chills down my spine), but there is still a little bit of beauty in them, much like most arachnids. My queen, Bold Jumping spider passed away a few weeks ago after a dedicated few years with us. Cutest of the arachnids. But I found myself being more open to spiders. Had a wolf spider (Actual one, not the ones people miss identify as Wolfs'), that was in our basement. Sadly, I forgot about spider "Stress" when we had it in a temporary enclosure and it passed away from it (The day I got it a new chill enclosure on the way home from work). Spiders are beautiful when you lose your preconceptions of danger (Black widows and Brown Recluse aren't really dangerous. Its all societal over exaggeration, with bad examples of victims in EXTREMELY rare cases). Anyways, f*ck yeah Will! You got so many points from your BBW segment. :)

“Those insane ones from the Middle East” — do you mean camel spiders? Back in the ’00s I’d often see photos online (this was at the height of the Iraq War). I don’t think those are actually even spiders technically, and apparently they aren’t even as scary as the photos make them appear. I dislike spiders—and I usually try to keep my distance. I’m especially distrustful of the ones without webs; they give me the creeps. Webbed spiders are better because they stay in one place usually, haha. I need to keep eyes on the target at all times!! The one spider I am not afraid of is the cellar spider (sometimes misidentified as daddy-longlegs, which aren’t even spiders). I don’t know what it is about them. I will even pick them up and handle them… though it’s almost exclusively to get them out of a bathtub or sink to prevent their drowning. I don’t think I would want to touch any others.

So, just because he destroyed the egg sac, it doesn’t mean she couldn’t lay another one. Will isn’t wrong that they are actually pretty chill spiders… and it likely wouldn’t even try (nor would it want to) leave if it’s being well-fed. Still, I suggest relocating her. In like 2005 I made some shorts with this game called "The Movies" which let you make and voice your own little skits using basically Sims 2 characters and stuff. Can confirm that if you’re not a spider person, upon owning one (however it may occur for you) they really don’t become scary anymore (brown recluse excluded as well as those insane ones in the Middle East ahaha). I now let all my outdoor spiders live their life and catch nuggies and when I have extra food from my indoor spider that may go bad soon I go ahead and feed all the outdoor spiders. I don't know if anyone in the comments has brought this up, but the black widow population in America is declining, and there is speculation that it may be due in part to the brown widow spider, which is not native to the U.S., which seemingly seeks out the black widow specifically and kills them, not for food or because they're competing for resources. The black widow is nonconfrontational with other spiders, but the brown widow is an "aggressive spider" (to other spiders), so if a black widow and a brown widow meet, the black widow has a very low chance of surviving the encounter. :(
