2025-07-02 22:05:50 +0000 UTCAustins airplane talk makes me feel more comfortable and knowledgeable about flights.

2025-06-30 13:48:47 +0000 UTChi austin! i put off watching this specific patreon episode because I'm currently on an asia trip flying on a bunch of planes and didn't want to spiral lmao, but i caved and this was actually super helpful in understanding how statistically i'll be safe. keep doing these segments in some shape!
Sophia Lopez
2025-06-29 14:48:43 +0000 UTClove the aviation segments. I feel like if this is ever brought up again on the pod, a powerpoint presentation would probably help with how ADHD everyone is. gives people something to focus on
EVO Tech
2025-06-29 07:40:50 +0000 UTCI think austin would enjoy this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@blancolirio/

2025-06-26 21:14:43 +0000 UTCI love solo austin segments! When I saw it you were the first one I thought of! I'm so glad you're covering it
Sawy Er
2025-06-26 03:08:26 +0000 UTCI love hearing about aviation and I'm glad you made a separate segment. I agree with others that you need a slideshow or something to keep the rest of them focused lmao. Do more of these!! I will watch every one
Emma Helen
2025-06-26 02:51:50 +0000 UTCAustin, you GOTTA start streaming, just chatting or something. Something besides fear& and the shows
KMLthe1
2025-06-26 02:31:47 +0000 UTCI'm glad you ended up doing this as a separate segment. Always love when people talk about something they are passionate about and you def taught me a lot here :)

2025-06-26 00:13:46 +0000 UTCI could not care less about the topic but listening to him get in depth on something he was so interested in still made it a really good listen

2025-06-25 19:00:48 +0000 UTCI’m convinced it was malfunction with the tillywack revergence system. In all seriousness though thanks the for extra content Austin loved this breakdown ❤️

2025-06-25 08:27:48 +0000 UTCTy Austin!! <3
G
2025-06-25 05:05:02 +0000 UTCI'd say the plane being overweight is not likely. The RAT indicates some sort of dual Engine failure
Austin
2025-06-25 04:32:43 +0000 UTCTOTALLY I was very insecure explanining it on th epod
Austin
2025-06-25 04:31:01 +0000 UTCYou will be safe <3
Austin
2025-06-25 04:30:41 +0000 UTCGreat question! The fuel contamination sensors are on the fuel truck which fuels several aircraft so it would have impacted all of them as well. That being said, anything is possible but I'd say that's very unlikely!
Austin
2025-06-25 04:30:19 +0000 UTCThank you so much! this means a lot coming from somebody who has worked in aviation
Austin
2025-06-25 04:29:09 +0000 UTCThat's the plan :)
Austin
2025-06-25 04:28:17 +0000 UTCI'll be expecting a separate segment like this analyzing and summarizing the full report when it comes out, thank you Austin
Haitham Khalid
2025-06-25 01:48:46 +0000 UTCNever did I ever think I’d be this interested in a plane crash. But I always love a good info dump of someone’s special interest
Danilee
2025-06-25 01:37:25 +0000 UTCLove seeing Austin working ❤️
tuki
2025-06-25 01:27:56 +0000 UTCwill turned around to laugh the whole time 😭
Sasha
2025-06-24 21:23:07 +0000 UTCThis was fire Austin <3 please make this a periodic segment on Patreon. Starting an Aviation YT channel would also be so sick.
nopresspls
2025-06-24 21:09:55 +0000 UTCAustin's aviation hour sounds like a great segment!
Moises Marquez
2025-06-24 21:08:04 +0000 UTCI think he should just do this segment on his own. Plane crashes are very serious. A calm setting would be better.
Ale
2025-06-24 20:45:04 +0000 UTCWe need a separate segment where Austin explains plain crashes
Ani
2025-06-24 20:09:48 +0000 UTCthis is why I pay for Patreon

Sarah Hall
2025-06-24 15:33:11 +0000 UTCI really liked your segment on the podcast Austin, thank you for sharing your interests. Additionally, I love the mic you have it makes me feel like an airplane captain is talking to me.
Dakota Sanders
2025-06-24 14:40:40 +0000 UTCAustin you may never see this, but as an engineer who has worked in the aviation industry, this was so incredibly well explained. I hate the “this is why I don’t fly” comments because they ignore all statistics and probabilities. Thanks so much for nerding out, I am so happy more people (especially in these comments!) interested in aviation :)
Truc Le
2025-06-24 14:35:20 +0000 UTCNow this is the kinda pride content I wanna see

2025-06-24 13:54:39 +0000 UTClove having an austin segment!

2025-06-24 13:50:05 +0000 UTCWe love you Austin Show!!
Noor Irsyad
2025-06-24 13:40:54 +0000 UTCCan we get a regular Austin segment? Like girly pop and America me up but whatever Austin wants to specialize in... Gay or plane-related perhaps 🤣
Gretchen A Preheim
2025-06-24 13:34:24 +0000 UTCI’m really looking forward to you streaming more Austin<3 /eu-viewer

2025-06-24 12:40:20 +0000 UTCYay thank you for doing this, I just finished the bonus ep and needed more detail!
Sasha
2025-06-24 11:41:34 +0000 UTCAustin PLEASE stream more! I’m genuinely interested in Aviation and it would be so cool to hear your takes more
Matilda
2025-06-24 10:12:42 +0000 UTCOh Austin wanted to do this so bad. But I do think it's interesting thanks Austin
Raymundg15
2025-06-24 09:35:22 +0000 UTCThank you Austin! I was actually very interested in this topic and really excited that you made another video that touched on the topics of the horrific flight that occurred. Please stream more! Very knowledgeable on your passion , love it 🗣️
Chay
2025-06-24 08:51:44 +0000 UTCHas Austin heard of Black Box Down? I could see him doing something similar
mondo
2025-06-24 08:27:47 +0000 UTCthis is the first time i’ve genuinely been interested in aviation and prob one of my fav segments of the podcast - thanks austin!! also on a separate note, would it be possible for the fuel contamination sensors to break? and if so, is that a more likely option than a catastrophic software failure?
sophie!
2025-06-24 07:18:29 +0000 UTCAlso this room looks great. Very warm very not millennial grey.
Deanna
2025-06-24 07:15:19 +0000 UTCAustin we loved the plane talk! Don't let the haters take you down.
Felicity
2025-06-24 07:10:04 +0000 UTCI love this please make more like this I didn't expect to find this interesting and I do!
Deanna
2025-06-24 07:07:41 +0000 UTCI love the extra segment. If you can, please give us a rundown of the previous crashes in recent years and any updates since then.
Alan
2025-06-24 06:43:36 +0000 UTCI'm flying internationally on Air India out of the Ahmedabad airport this November (bought the tickets a few days before the crash) and this was really helpful so tyvm
Radi
2025-06-24 06:24:33 +0000 UTCI love you Austin! I think your insecurity on the pod during this segment took away from how well can explain it like here
Nova Meadows
2025-06-24 06:17:16 +0000 UTCthis is the content i pay for! i want Austin’s expertise to be ALWAYS shared in EVERY aviation instance. let’s go backwards to previous ones as well! he is literally the only person i trust on this, not para social, he just knows his shit!
Reen B
2025-06-24 06:06:10 +0000 UTCThis is a huge compliment! thank you very much!
Austin
2025-06-24 06:04:23 +0000 UTCGenuinely have thought about doing a travel channel of sorts
Austin
2025-06-24 06:04:10 +0000 UTCi think austin’s simulator streams with hasan, jerma, and ludwig reignited my love for aviation from when i was younger. i would absolutely love more of this side of austin since he was my main draw to fear&
Jake
2025-06-24 05:34:28 +0000 UTCA good topic for the next aviation segment would be bringing up the actual statistics of different modes of transportation. Cars vs. commercial airliners vs. GA planes vs. helicopters vs. motorcycles vs. trains, etc. It may turn QT from having a fear of flying to having a fear of driving 🤣
Trevor Kelly
2025-06-24 05:32:55 +0000 UTCAustin, even if you don't continue this segment on Fear&, you could easily start a new YT channel with your aviation commentary and I believe it would be pretty successful!
Trevor Kelly
2025-06-24 05:12:39 +0000 UTCAustin you are really good at explaining this. I have a degree in aerospace engineering and you were more engaging than I remember my professors being. You should do this on stream more often or just have your own segments on Patreon if its easier.
Imrano
2025-06-24 05:07:37 +0000 UTCI love this, I actually became a fan of planes cause of my fear of them, since I’ve became more confident and love Austin do plane talk, please keep these updates coming
darian lavat
2025-06-24 04:55:05 +0000 UTCmy uncle is a pilot for jet blue and i love talking to him about the mechanics and details of plane incidents. it's always a treat to hear an austin commentary on the same stuff <3
mikka
2025-06-24 04:41:37 +0000 UTCSo does the rat thing deploying make the theory that the plane was overweight (something I heard when it first happened) not a possibility?
Heather
2025-06-24 04:35:22 +0000 UTCPlanning on it:)
Austin
2025-06-24 04:31:41 +0000 UTCyeah I felt like podcast was all over the place I had to organize it better
Austin
2025-06-24 04:31:30 +0000 UTCYep :)
Austin
2025-06-24 04:30:01 +0000 UTCLove this explanation! I understand that the RAT would deploy in the event of a catastrophic hydraulic or electrical failure. As I understood it, on the 787, the engines would be able to give thrust under these circumstances which in this case they did not so I was assuming it was not due to those failures. A loss of both engines, however, would cause the loss of hydraulics & electrical power which would cause the RAT to deploy (hope this makes sense)
Austin
2025-06-24 04:29:04 +0000 UTCIt was hard to organize my thoughts & also I was insecure to share it with the group because it's my special interest
Austin
2025-06-24 04:22:31 +0000 UTCMods make him do more of these pls 🙏🏾
captain jes
2025-06-24 03:58:19 +0000 UTCI wouldn't trust anyone else's commentary on this.

Crayak Risen
2025-06-24 02:59:24 +0000 UTCI mean they need to be pulled up at some point, I guess they could maybe make it so you can't retract them until you're at a certain speed/altitude but I think it's just such an incredibly rare issue that it wouldn't be worth it
Lizard
2025-06-24 02:53:51 +0000 UTCWe love this king
Adina Kae
2025-06-24 02:36:37 +0000 UTCFor some reason Austin explaining things like this is so calming? A segment where Austin just teaches us stuff in depth pls
bri
2025-06-24 02:36:31 +0000 UTCOkay now THIS was super engaging. Idk I think it was a mix of my own adhd and the overload of info I got overwhelmed and got lost often but honestly this was way better than the pod segment (not that you should stop continuing the pod segment by any means)
Violet Dunn
2025-06-24 02:31:52 +0000 UTCThanks king. Great content 🙏🏼
Katie Martens
2025-06-24 01:52:10 +0000 UTCThis was really interesting. I think the only person who was being a dick about your podcast segment was Hasan. Will was genuinely interested... or at least trying to be.
Keith Quackenbush
2025-06-24 00:30:53 +0000 UTC<3 love the info dump, always super interesting
astro_appa
2025-06-24 00:08:38 +0000 UTCnew fear& format: intro w/random topics, girlypop nation with qt, america me up w/ will, and Austin Aviation time, then round out the ep with W's and L's of the week
runavayan
2025-06-23 23:47:24 +0000 UTCthey should hurry up and make an official plane segment like girlypop nation and america me up. Austin’s Aviation Airtime. AAA for short (pronounced screaming)
doctrose
2025-06-23 23:42:33 +0000 UTCYeah agreed! slideshow would help
Austin
2025-06-23 23:38:51 +0000 UTCTheoretically it's possible but given the conditions planes fly in every day like in Arizona or the UAE where daily temperatures exceed the conditions AI171 had on that day I would think it's VERY unlikely especially for that type of engine
Austin
2025-06-23 23:38:39 +0000 UTCI love being able to hear this with out Hank cackling in the background 💕
Aleisha B.
2025-06-23 23:26:29 +0000 UTCThank you, Austin : ) I have a deep fear of flying, and your explanations help the logical side of my brain take over

2025-06-23 22:55:46 +0000 UTCGreat breakdown, Austin!
godluvsaterrier
2025-06-23 22:47:40 +0000 UTCIs vapour-lock theoretically possible tho? I mean surely there's a minimum temp for this danger to arise no?
No one in particular
2025-06-23 22:46:20 +0000 UTCYou need to work on making this more fun and engaging for the pod. Maybe make a slideshow? It would also help you staying on track. But in essence i find the idea to bring the world of aviation to fear& really cool!!
No one in particular
2025-06-23 22:42:28 +0000 UTCI am here for Austin's plane content.
SorakaBananasOP
2025-06-23 22:41:26 +0000 UTCHonestly i don't think that'll happen for a long while. Before her uncle died she often said 'maybe in a few years' but since then she only said no. That's my parasocial 2 cents at least
No one in particular
2025-06-23 22:40:38 +0000 UTCAfter watching this I now need to know what Austin’s opinion is on season 2 of The Rehearsal
Claire Ortega
2025-06-23 22:35:59 +0000 UTCThis was extremely informative you can tell he knows what he is talking about. We also need some more positive airplane stories so he can talk about them more and maybe qt to fly at some point
Matt Miller
2025-06-23 22:06:04 +0000 UTCI just came in to hear Austin to talk about thrust and his flaps
Dylan Coonce
2025-06-23 22:01:43 +0000 UTCdefinitely enjoyed this explanation, thanks Austin!

2025-06-23 21:56:48 +0000 UTCi actually love this pls austin become employed and make videos like this for us

2025-06-23 21:56:21 +0000 UTCThanks Austin I'm an A&P student and I appreciate this content
Sally Munoz
2025-06-23 21:51:27 +0000 UTCWe need more Fear& plane talk on the pod. If Hasan gets to talk politics sometimes, then Austin can talk about planes.
Ryan McKeever
2025-06-23 21:48:16 +0000 UTCThanks for the extra video Austin!! I always enjoy your airplane stories and coverage of accidents and whatnot! I have a bachelors and (most of) a master's in aerospace engineering where i specialized in aerodynamics and propulsion, so its a topic that I get excited about whenever it comes up! My two cents on the accident: 1) The RAT will also deploy in the event of hydraulic or electrical failures, so it may be possible that one of those lines were severed at some point during takeoff (I noticed that the aircraft began to descend shortly after the landing gear started to retract) AND the GE engines on that plane are dependent on the electrical systems for operation. 2) I did some REALLY sketchy napkin math on the mass flow rate of the air, but it mayyyyyyyy be possible the engines stopped receiving enough air to sustain combustion. From the weather reports that day, the air temperature was high and pressure was low already, and its possible that when they pitched up after takeoff, the engines flamed out (since the inlet fan cross section relative to the airflow was reduced). Either way, i dont expect either of those options to be very likely either, but the dual engine failure is so incredibly odd that i assume multiple things had to be going wrong at the same time!

2025-06-23 21:47:35 +0000 UTCThis player pauses when i scroll and I'm not a fan
Phillip Ashcroft
2025-06-23 21:09:20 +0000 UTCI do always appreciate it when Austin gets serious about these sort of things. Thank you King
Jehan
2025-06-23 21:04:52 +0000 UTCGenuinely love hearing about topics from subject matter experts, wether it’s from Hasan on politics, will with film, QT on baking, and especially Austin with aviation. Really enjoyed the update Austin!

2025-06-23 20:37:59 +0000 UTCYeah the reason compressor stall isn’t that likely is bc if the compressor is stalling that means it’s not compressing the correct amount of air (oxygen) meaning an excess of fuel is present which is why it shoots a trail of fire/loud pops
P Body
2025-06-23 20:34:27 +0000 UTCMINOR SPELLING MISTAKE! >:(

2025-06-23 20:11:01 +0000 UTCShouldn’t there be a automated system that prevents the flaps from accidentally be pulled up? Apart from it being not what happened here.

2025-06-23 19:30:02 +0000 UTCThank you for this! I said on the bonus episode I couldn't understand the high level wording as an airplane normie (I flew for the first time in my 20s and I've still only been on 1 round trip) but the theories were so much easier to understand here, appreciated
Mary Fuller
2025-06-23 18:58:16 +0000 UTCThe calmer vibe of this as opposed to the podcast really helped with the topic. I could follow way more easily.
Jamie Hauken
2025-06-23 18:57:50 +0000 UTCShout-out to Austin for recording a whole extra video for us! The patrons are eating good this week.
Jamie Hauken
2025-06-23 18:53:58 +0000 UTCAustin please do more of these sit-down videos, or just chatting streams. I think a lot of us really enjoy hearing you talk - even if its usually about airports and airbus <3

2025-06-23 18:44:47 +0000 UTCThanks Austin! I work in the aviation business but don’t know much about planes themselves and don’t watch the news so getting the scoop from someone as passionate as you is really great
