The problem with watching something with subtitles for us, especially when it comes to anime, is that we spend so much time reading the subtitles that we miss the visuals and then it feels like we're missing out on that incredible art and on the emotion of the story because we are so focused on the text translation. This is generally why we prefer dubbed versions.

2025-05-10 22:26:00 +0000 UTCJujutsu Kaisen is definitely an interesting world and it is by far the most complex anime I’ve watched. To me it’s like a Gen Z version of Bleach, and it’s why I got hooked into it literally in the first episode. I think it has a fantastic dub despite what some others say, and is definitely worth watching! The sub version is great too, but I know it gets annoying reading subtitles and I know you guys would prefer to watch something in your own language. And also it’s not a super long series, currently at 40 ish episodes (pending the 3rd season, no clue when that one will come out)

He only says the names of foods when he's doing physical attacks, but actually says things when doing his special attacks. The Boogie Woogie/"What kinda woman is your type" guy has a technique that activates when he claps. Which lead to some people joking that he might be able to activate it if his @$$ claps 😂 The plant guy, volcano guy, multiple eyes guy, weird tongue guy, and tramp stamp brothers are all Curses (or Cursed Spirits) - embodiments of negative human energy that seek death and destruction. Certain characters have "cursed techniques" that use or summon cursed spirits.

2025-05-09 18:02:02 +0000 UTCIt's interesting that there is still a stigma against anime dubs, probably because of how they were handled years ago, before anime became such a big thing in the west. Or maybe its just weird hearing the characters say these things in english. Alot of those earlier dubs were not done with as much care, the original dragon ball z dub comes to mind with the amount of mistranslations, and changes. I think most modern dubbing is much better. There's only a handful of anime I'd still recommend only the sub for.

2025-05-09 17:45:34 +0000 UTCYou guys were joking about how there's not much else to watch for JJK outside of just going right to the show, but tbh I'd say that's not too far from the truth. There isn't too much non spoiler content that I would be able to recommend for JJK. The anime is relatively young compared to other popular Shonen series, and it's likely gonna wrap up sooner than later given that the manga concluded last September. Anyway, from what clips I've seen the eng dub seems fine, the animation is spectacular, and the show's not too long, so I could recommend it to ya'll. Just be warned that the power system is on the more complicated side, so you may have trouble following things sometimes. Guess that's what ya have us for tho.

His ability is Cursed Speech, which will automatically curse anyone who hears his words by actualizing things he says (i.e. him telling someone to shut up would force them to shut up). He speaks exclusively through onigiri ingredients because those words are guaranteed to not curse anybody, and thus he won't accidentally hurt/manipulate others through basic conversation.
