Steve was originally intended to be the stereotypical mean jock bully you often find in 80s movies, but they screwed up big time by casting Joe Keery. He’s just too d*mn likeable, so they had to go a different route, for which we are all thankful. I like Jonathan better as a partner to Nancy, but I love Steve and his character growth so much. Billy was actually written into the show to fill the role Steve was initially supposed to have. IIRC Hopper didn’t actually adopt Eleven. Owens fudged a birth certificate for her, listing Hopper as her biological father. Although in practice it makes little difference; legally she is now Jane Hopper. Personally I love season two (my ranking would be 4, 2, 1, 3, though I always skip that one episode). Season three is definitely the weakest IMHO, but even a weak season of ”Stranger Things” is good TV. Season four might be one of the best seasons I’ve seen from any show. To the point I’m a little worried that season five won’t be able to top it, or even measure up to it. I choose to have faith in the Duffer brothers though.

I think 2x7, for some people taints the entire season, but for me 2x8 & 2x9 are top 10 episodes for me!

2024-05-07 07:34:25 +0000 UTCI don’t agree season two is bad, upon a rewatch I thoroughly enjoyed it except for episode 7 but I would just skip it, I do think it’s my least fav, but I’ve enjoyed every single season, specifically 3, but ESPECIALLY 4, I mean the stakes are so high and you just grow to care more and more about the characters, I’m really excited for your future reactions 😁

2024-05-06 11:03:22 +0000 UTCIn my opinion, it's only the episode with 8 that was weak in S2, and maybe some of the things leading to it, but afterwards I do appreciate some of the background story for context. S3 is better, and S4 is epic - hence why I think some might see S2 as weak, I dunno. Can't wait to follow your journey through the remaining 50% BB :)

2024-05-06 11:01:12 +0000 UTCLol sorry, this is my third comment here, but since you asked… The main reason I’ve heard people say they don’t like season 2 as much as the others is the sister storyline and the timing of it. People felt that it ruined the suspense/flow that had been building leading into the ultimate episode. I agree that having a fully separate episode right before the finale was a bit annoying, but that’s a crazy reason to write the whole season off in my opinion. 🥴 And besides, that’s why this season has 9 episodes and the others have 8… it was meant to be a bonus. Plus, like it or not, that storyline served some very important purposes- the obvious one being that 8 taught 11 how to harness/channel her emotions, leading to her maximizing her powers. Oh, and I think some people also felt that the monsters this season weren’t scary/original enough… people said it was just more of the same of what we saw in season 1. Again, no reason to say it was bad IMO, but there you have it.

Season 4 is epic too, but I genuinely do not understand why people have told you that seasons 2 and 3 aren’t good… they’re ALL GOOD. It’s the same confusion I had when you said people told you this was a kid’s show… CLEARLY it is not. Even the fact that you went into this show having already been primed not to like it really bothered me, because before Squid Game, this was Netflix’s most popular ever. It was a cultural phenomenon... it broke like every streaming record there is. So both of those examples just go to show that you can’t trust what these random people have been telling you lol- they’re way off-base!! Every season is fantastic, for real.

I agree with everything u guys said in the discussion, every episode was amazing, the duos, and the storylines just worked for me (except the 008 episode, literally so boring + a bit misplaced and yet the rest of the season was makes it easy for me to block out) Every season of ST is great, everyone’s gonna have different opinions on them, like I said, it’ll definitely be up to u guys to decide your favorites! Season’s 2 & 4 are the best ones for me. Season 3 happens to be my very least favorite, personally. I probably have more issues with the writing choices of that season than most people do with this season LOL. But I have no doubt you guys are still gonna enjoy it— the aesthetic and vibes of that season are very fun tho, just not my fav season.
