WIP - World Lore

Draft 2: (Updated 2024-10-25: Updated race name to match poll results.)

Welcome to Earth: A Kitari Chronicles Lore Guide

Tone:

Our story embraces an easy-going, slice-of-life atmosphere with a warm, lighthearted tone. Imagine a cozy embrace from your favourite anthropomorphic alien, filled with laughter, warmth, and just the right amount of mischief.

Setting:

The scene unfolds in modern-day Earth, where life continues much as before, save for one extraordinary addition: a colossal, spherical spaceship, roughly the size of our moon, has entered into a stable orbit around our planet. Dubbed "The Wanderer" by Earthlings, this new celestial neighbour casts an intriguing glow on our nights.

The Kitari Arrival:

After about a week of silence from The Wanderer, something extraordinary begins to happen. Around the world, individuals with animal ears and tails start appearing among us. These beings, who we come to know as the Kitari, are friendly, playful, and downright adorable. Drawn by Earth's vibrant cultures, diverse landscapes, and—let's be honest—the internet, they've come to join us in our world.

The Kitari:

The Lunar Bloom:

Every time The Wanderer aligns with Earth's actual moon—a full moon for us—kitari experience a phenomenon they call "The Lunar Bloom." This event causes them to become temporarily more flexible and inflatable, like animated cartoons come to life. Their senses are heightened, their desire to cuddle loved ones increases exponentially, and they might struggle slightly with self-control. It's all in good fun, though, and adds a touch of magic to our nights.

Population:

Initially, around 100,000 kitari souls arrive on Earth. This number is carefully controlled to avoid overwhelming humanity or disrupting our lives too much. Plus, The Wanderer has its limits and can only comfortably process so many data streams at once.

The Kitari' Secret:

To keep things interesting and maintain an air of mystery, kitari deliberately hide their advanced technological capabilities. They prefer to interact with us on a personal level, learning our ways and sharing laughter over coffee instead of revealing their true nature too soon.

The Truth Behind The Kitari:

Before Arrival:

Before their bodies arrive on Earth, each kitari soul searches for a suitable human companion, based on their chosen animal persona and personal preferences. They might be drawn to someone they've admired online or simply be attracted to an individual's kind heart. Once matched, the kitari' soul will wait patiently until its body is sent down.

Emergency Coordination:

In times of great danger or emergency, the link between The Wanderer and its kitari children opens up, becoming omni-directional. This allows them to instinctively coordinate with each other and protect their loved ones when needed.

Death:

Kitari don't truly die—they can choose to simple cease to exist in our world and have their essence return to The Wanderer once their beloved human passes away. When their bodies disappear after death, they leave behind only fond memories and perhaps a spark of inspiration for those who knew them well.
