The "this isn't wrestling" thing has happened for decades, 1960s wrestler Karl Gotch (nicknamed "the god of wrestling" in Japan due to his impact on wrestling) once complained that 1980s wrestler Harley Race was "killing the business" for doing a top rope headbutt.
