The late afternoon sun cast a golden hue through the gaps in the curtains of the teacher’s room, gently illuminating the handsome face of Satoru.
He carried two lunch boxes in his hands, walking briskly and confidently like a victor returning home with a full load, and opened the office door.
At this moment, Hiratsuka was concentrated on correcting students’ homework.
Upon hearing the sound from the door, she lifted her head, and when her eyes met Satoru’s, a hint of surprise showed on her face.
“So you’re really here.”
Hiratsuka spoke softly, with a touch of disbelief in her tone.
Satoru smiled and placed the lunch boxes on the table in front of her, then grinned easily.
“What? Did you think I would go back on my promise? I always keep my word!”
Hiratsuka glanced at him from the corner of her eye, slightly lifting the corner of her mouth, not entirely satisfied with his answer, but still responded politely.
“Thank you in advance. However, I hope the bento you brought is as delicious as you say, so don’t disappoint me.”
Satoru sat casually in front of her and opened the lunch boxes.
Inside were carefully crafted sushi, golden tempura, and neatly arranged side dishes, emitting a tantalizing aroma that made one’s mouth water.
He proudly presented this delicious food to Hiratsuka, his eyes filled with pride as if awaiting her praise.
“Try it and see. I won’t take responsibility if it doesn’t taste good.”
Hiratsuka picked up chopsticks, took a piece of sushi into her mouth, tasted it carefully, and nodded.
“Not bad, it seems you have some skills.”
Satoru smiled even brighter.
“Of course, I’m Gojo Satoru. There’s nothing I can’t do.”
Hiratsuka rolled her eyes at him and said, “Ha, narcissist.”
She set down chopsticks and looked up at him, a complex emotion flickering in her eyes.
“By the way, what are you doing tomorrow morning?”
Satoru shrugged nonchalantly.
“What about the morning? Sure, I agree.”
Hearing this, Hiratsuka frowned slightly.
“You’re really incorrigible. Is this fair to them?”
Satoru smiled and looked genuinely innocent.
“Oh, Shizuka-chan knows who I am, how could I refuse them?”
Hiratsuka shook her head helplessly, continued eating her bento, then complained.
“Really, why do people like you! But I always fail at blind dates...”
As she spoke, she stabbed the rice in her lunch box with her chopsticks as if it were her enemy.
Satoru laid down his chopsticks and looked at her seriously, a faint smile on his lips.
“Those people are just blind and foolish. Shizuka-chan, you’re wonderful, why haven’t you found the right person? They must have no vision.”
Hearing Satoru’s words, Hiratsuka felt warmth in her heart. But on the surface, she still spoke harshly.
“You only know how to say good things. I really don’t know what else you can say with that mouth of yours.”
She raised her head and looked into Satoru’s eyes.
Their eyes met, and it seemed like unseen emotions were flowing in the air.
Satoru’s smile remained bright, and he said gently.
“It’s not a lie, but my truth. I’ve always liked you, Shizuka-chan.”
His voice was gentle but carried an undeniable sincerity.
Hiratsuka was stunned for a moment, a blush spreading on her face, taken aback by Satoru’s words. She stammered.
“Yo-You shouldn’t joke like that...”
But Satoru wasn’t joking. He looked at her calmly, with a hint of seriousness and determination in his eyes.
He knew that his feelings for Hiratsuka were not just a passing fancy, but a genuine emotion tested by time.
Though usually cynical, he was serious about this relationship.
Feeling Satoru’s gaze, Hiratsuka’s heartbeat unexpectedly quickened, and she tried hard to remain calm, not wanting to reveal too much vulnerability in front of him.
She took a deep breath and huffed, trying to conceal her inner turmoil.
“Stop saying such boring words and eat quickly.”
Hiratsuka bowed her head, picked up her chopsticks again, and began to focus on her meal.
Though her movements seemed natural, only she knew her heart was in turmoil at the moment.
Satoru didn’t say anything more. He finished his lunch quietly, then stood up, ready to leave.
Before leaving, he looked at Hiratsuka again, with a slight tenderness unseen in his eyes.
“Everything I’ve said is true.”
After saying this, Satoru stared straight into her eyes.
Hiratsuka felt slightly uneasy as he looked at her so directly.
Before she could react to what was happening, her vision darkened, and his lips pressed firmly against hers.
Hiratsuka’s eyes widened, her heartbeat suddenly racing, her mind going blank.
Instinctively wanting to push him away, but Satoru’s arms held her tightly like a vice, making her unable to move at all.
After a few seconds, Satoru finally released her slowly, but he still wore a very confident smile on his face.
“I’m very serious.”
Hiratsuka stared at him blankly. Her cheeks were now flushed with a hint of red.
“W-What are you doing?”
Satoru gave a slight smile. He had expected her reaction.
“I just wanted you to understand clearly that my feelings for you are not a joke.”
Hiratsuka took a deep breath, trying to calm her restless heart and regain her composure.
“Do you really understand what you just said? Remember, our relationship is that of teacher and student!”
Satoru shrugged.
“So what? I’ve never cared about that. You know, no one can control what I want to do.”
Hiratsuka fell silent, bowing her head and not daring to meet his gaze directly.
“I don’t know how to respond to you.”
Satoru gently lifted her chin, urging her to look at him.
“It’s okay, Shizuka-chan. I won’t force you to make any decisions. Just know that I’ll always be by your side, waiting patiently for your answer.”
Seeing the seriousness in Satoru’s expression, Hiratsuka stopped teasing him.
After calmly finishing lunch, he tidied up the utensils on the table, stood up, and addressed Hiratsuka.
“Shizuka-chan, I’ll head back to class first! If you need time to think, take your time, don’t rush~ Whatever your decision, I’ll always be here patiently waiting for your answer.”
Hiratsuka lifted her head and looked at him with complex eyes, a mix of emotions swirling within her. She nodded slightly and replied in a slightly lower voice.
“Okay, then you can go back first. I’ll seriously consider this matter...”
Satoru lifted the corner of his mouth slightly, showing a faint smile, then turned and slowly left the office.
As the door closed softly, the entire room seemed to become very quiet. Hiratsuka stared at his departing figure in silence, feeling a mixture of emotions in her heart.
She never expected Satoru to have such special feelings for her, and she also didn’t expect him to express his feelings so openly.
Hiratsuka picked up the red pen she used to mark the last assignment, trying to concentrate on her work, but her mind couldn’t focus.
Satoru’s words kept echoing in her mind.
Hiratsuka shook her head gently, then refocused and continued correcting the students’ homework.
However, every time she opened the student’s homework book, the confident smile of that man and what had just happened would unconsciously flash through her mind.
She couldn’t deny that deep in her heart, she had long harbored indescribable feelings for him, but she was still hesitant to face these feelings head-on.
As time passed and the sun set, the remaining light entered the office through the gaps in the curtains, illuminating everything with a dim golden glow.
Hiratsuka finally finished marking her last assignment. She slowly put down the red pen in her hand, rubbed her slightly sore neck from working for so long, and took a long sigh.
Then, she stood up from her seat, moved to the window, stared at the darkening sky outside the window, and thought calmly.
She knew very well that she had to make a choice, even though it was a very difficult one.
