LAUNDRY DAY - FRANCESCA GRISENTI - AND SHOOTING NUTTY PEOPLE

Shooting models doesn't have to mean taking pictures of them in one way only. 

I found over the years that I've tended to gravitate toward people who are a bit 'different' 🤪. This happens when you get well established in an area and people want to work with you. On your side, you have to show that you're open to shooting ANYONE, and I mean anyone. When prospective crazy models see that, they'll gravitate toward you and maybe make contact directly, or via a mutual friend etc.

Ideas for moving forward out of typical model shooting

I've done my time shooting anyone and everyone, from transgender people to large people, men, young, old, multi-cultural, people with various disorders... whatever. It's obvious to anyone who knows me from Australia for example, that I'm not a photographer who is always after perfectly shaped Caucasian 18 - 24 year old subjects. So prospective models who see themselves as a bit different in some way have had confidence in approaching me and posing before my lens. In my experience, models like that will never ever approach a photographer who just shoots the stereotypical models in stereotypical poses in a stereotypical way. 

So if you're interested in extending your work beyond the stereotypical then open up and start shooting ANYONE. The nutty and interesting members of the model community will notice...

Fran's one such person who I got to know through a mutual friend, Saskia. She's one of three Italian girls I've had the pleasure of working with and also becoming friends with and she's nuts. Perfect. Thing is, I get on well with nutty people. Maybe I'm nuts too.

This shoot 

- included a heap of stuff. We did some fashion (she may be nutty but being Italian she has an awesome sense of fashion!). Then some pseudo-sophisticated stuff in an outdoor cafe in Sydney and then of course to top it off we walked into a Backpacker's Hostel in Broadway and asked if we could shoot in the laundry hahah. They said yes 😜

And so that's it, these pictures then happened. 

Let me know if you think I'm talking shit and wasting my time with these spiels. I realise a good percentage of my Patrons just wanna see some tits and ass, and if they're lucky, some pussy, but posts like this are directed at my Patrons who are keen photographers looking for ways forward with what they do. My suggestions may be shite, are they? I dunno, it's just me sharing my experiences - I'm not being prescriptive and I'm not TELLING anyone what to do 🤣
