🎧 PATREON EXCLUSIVE | Doctor Who Live: The Afterparty Commentary

Are you ready to expose yourself to one whole hour of the most cringeworthy Doctor Who content ever broadcast? Well, even if you're not prepared for this televisual car crash, Matt and Billy are on hand to guide you through it, one stomach churning moment at a time.

One Direction, Rick Edwards calling Matthew Waterhouse "Adric" and Matt Smith looking for all the world like a man who has already mentally, spiritually and quite possibly physically checked out of the Greatest Show in the Galaxy - it's Doctor Who Live: The Afterparty!

A little bit of info not covered in the commentary: the companions were "contractually obliged" to appear at this event, having been carted over to BFI Southbank from the ExCel Centre in London, which had just played host to the three-day Doctor Who 50th Celebration convention that weekend. Nobody knew where they were going or what the plan was, which explains the bewildered (and possibly punchdrunk) faces in attendance. The entire companion-contingent was then driven back to their hotel to ponder what the hell had just happened. This was put together by Russell Minton, who as well as being the Head of International Production Consultancy for BBC Studios is also in charge of the fantastic Doctor Who: The Collection Blu-Ray range - what a redemption arc! By all accounts, much like Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor, this was a very last minute production, and a case of the BBC throwing lots of money at the crew to prepare for the programme in a very short amount of time.

Enjoy (if that's possible...),

Oh god, I'm only 33 minutes in and I've aged as well as this has D:

Cup of Tek

Subbed just for this and it didn't disappoint. Absolutely hilarious

Maybe one for a future Q&A aha… If you both worked for the BBC in 2013, and your superiors gave you the unenviable task of planning and producing the Afterparty, what would yours have been like? 😊

Darren Gelder

This is the best thing I've ever seen in my life

NotQuiteSoUndefeated

this was entertainment at its best 🀣

Larry Phillips

Gold!

Lewis

I distinctly remember other TV shows outside the BBC having the little TARDIS, like Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. Well done for getting throughb that show. I dunno if it tops Doctor in distress, but it's definitely a low point!

Andrew Lewis

Wow, great ROD lads! I watched the 50th at the cinema so this blissfully passed me by and it was wonderfully awful experiencing it with you behind my fingers. πŸ˜…

Matt Foster

Wow, that really is quite something isn’t it?! Well done for making it all the way through 🀣

Lewis Blackmore

Reliving past trauma 😭

Josh Snares

Literally one of the best ROD's ever lads, that was top notch!!

Oliver Chenery

Jeeeeseesus it’s genuine car crash TV! It’s the forced β€œOh! It’s Adric! And Leela!” from Zoe Ball that gets me πŸ’€πŸ˜‚ Amazing video though, was in fits of laughter watching this!

Lewis Palmer

OMG it’s worse than I remember … fascinating to watch again though (like most Who things, when the pressure of expectation is removed, it’s less stressful!). That montage at the end is one of the best, and is that really Daphne Ashbrook amongst the bewildered companions?

David Baker

It was as bad as I remember, in some cases worse. There is literally a million ways it could have been done better with a bit more thought and consideration. Especially feel for the companions that weren't even talked to.

The best patreon exclusive so far! Watching Matt cringe throughout was hilarious πŸ˜‚
