Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everybody~!! ^3^

So, at the start of 2018, I made a vow to myself to get back into art and start posting again~! And it took almost all year to build up the confidence, but I actually did it! ^w^ And I can't express how good it feels to be able to do my art again~!

And I owe it all to you guys! Your support means so much to me! I had hiatus'ed from my art because my depression convinced me that I was no good at it, but your patronage is irrefutable proof otherwise~ So even when I feel like I'm drawing shitty, you all give me the motivation to power through! So thank you all so much!!

For 2019, my vow is to get my comics rolling again!! >o<

Which brings me to my actual news:

I have officially started a new comic~! I've got a script that I like, you've seen some of the concept art, and I've got the first page about 90% finished~! >w< The first page is taking a bit longer than others should because I'm still figuring out the style-guide and shit, but so far I've only spent 3 nights on it. (I'm hoping to hit a 3-day-per-page pace, that's the speed I did the original comic at) But god damn, full-colour panels are a lot more work than I expected~! x3x I have a newfound respect for artists who do that~!

So, I should warn you all now: I'll probably be producing a lot less random sketches and illustrations in favor of working on this comic, and I know that I am much slower on content than most artists. I apologize and understand if that makes this Patreon blog too anemic for your donation~ But I'm hoping that this is the work that you guys want me to do!

Anyway! I wanted to get back into the groove with a short comic, but I can already feel the script bloating~ >_< It's gonna end up as long or as short as the story needs, it might take a bit more than a month.

But I'm not quite sure how best to surface it to you guys! I don't really know what the standard practice is: do I post each page as it finishes, or only full chapters? Do you guys want to see the spoilery pre-production, or would you rather the final version be your first exposure?

Like, you guys are bankrolling this, you tell me! (Poll below) >w< I really appreciate the input~! Thank you so much!

I hope you all have a great 2019~! ^3^

- Agreeing with Jasin, you should post pre-bubble panels to counteract the gap of 'full-sized' sketches/illustrations. PWCsponson did this for his recent comic while it was in production and people were satisfied. - While colored comic pages can be appealing, it hampers progress and creates a lot of stress on the creator (especially if you're solo). If you feel you're capable of it, then go ahead. If not, dial back to B/W and work on colored after a chapter is finished. If things go bad/stressful, my advice would be to create a poll asking if people would want either 1) only Black/White pages 2) only Colored pages 3) Black/White pages but colored worked on after a chapter is finished, and then adapt accordingly. - Best thing to remember is that you're not Yusuke Murata who can churn out 100 pages in less than a month. Monthly mangakas produce 12-3X B/W pages for their series. Don't be disappointed if you produce 7-15 colored pages. - Another thing is splitting chapters Bi-monthly. One month (i.e. Jan) you work hard on a Chp. Next month (i.e. Feb) you slow workload by polishing the chapter (if need be), working on personal illus/sketches, and possible pre-production for next Chp. Proceeding month (i.e. Mar) you repeat process.

Aw, thank you so much for the feedback, everybody~! That's all very helpful! ^3^ I'll figure out a plan based on this~! I'm really glad to know that people want to see the early work! I finally got sick this weekend~ u3u I almost made it all winter without a cold~! ;^; So I'm sorry to not have stuff ready to post yet~ Thank you all for the advice and patience~! You guys are the best`!! ^w^

You're the best I was so happy to find you came back. And your art is amazing. Keep it going, if it takes awhile whatever you're the first thing I've become a Patreon to lol

Thank you Linty my goddess friend. Thank you so much for your vows to yourself and showing that you are truly without a doubt that best and more greatest artist there is of all time. I am glad that you had the amazing strength and will to overcome your depression, believe me I know how hard and rough that is. You have a true gift and talent with skills like no other. We are all proud of you and will always be cheering you on and support you no matter what. *yetihug* We can't thank you enough for all your hard work and if there is a way for us to help you out let us know. Speaking of which, Like Someguy987 said, you don't have to rush or Marathon yourself creating your beautiful masterpieces. Take as much time as you need and don't push yourself to hard. If it takes a while then let it take a while, if you feel tired and need to take a break while working take a break. Take time to relax and enjoy yourself because remember every single one of your sketchs comic and ideas you bring to life are true breathtaking gorgeous masterpieces of pure flawless perfection. You and your work is always worth the wait and we will because not only are you always worth it but we want you to be happy as happy. So Once again, Thank you. Thank you so much for everything Linty, I hope that you have a glorious happy 2019 that brings you goof fortune joy happiness and every year after brings you more as they come... Also at some point an ice cream cake. You deserve a treat. CHEERS! *Ultra yetihug*

Seriously though, don't try to marathon this stuff. The last thing we need is you burning out. If it takes you a week to finish a page, then it takes a week. Life happens and we are more than happy to wait for you to do the best work you possibly can. Obviously. Just try not to stress out if things don't go as expected.

Someguy987

As much as I enjoy colored comics, perhaps it would be better to stick with a black and white/greyscale style like your old comics were? That way you'd be able to complete pages far more quickly and we'd get to see the finished product a bit sooner.

Alexis Peck

Make sure not to burn yourself out & take what proper time you need. There've been a few people I've followed who went too hard to make a deadline they set for themselves & made themselves sick. I'd much rather see a healthy artist than a stressed out sick one. Pages when they finish seems to be good on other Patreon pages, maybe having a PDF of the whole chapter when it's finished. Possibly putting spoilery stuff on higher tiers for people who like seeing the different stages of work.

ZekeStaright

Normally it's best to post a page around the time it's finished since it shows your supporters progress. And like you mentioned, you're not sure how long this story might be so it'll be hard to gauge chapter length. That's how I try to do it anyway.

Futazon

Just my 2 cents... I think you should post panels and previews of early-versions of the pages. Sketches of the panels, maybe without dialog and try to avoid spoilers. Just so we can see what progress is being done on each page. Then post the entire page when it's finished. Then repeat the process with the next page. Once a whole chapter is finished, compile all the pages in to a single post with a zip file download. Perhaps you could even open a new support tier just for the previews? Thanks for the poll!
