Sofie is one of the few people who truly understands Skyler's character. When Breaking Bad was originally airing on TV, a lot of people just cheered on Walter's antics and hated Skyler because they thought she was ruining Walt's fun, but I think those people were missing the point a little. Yes, Walt is entertaining, and the cancer makes him sympathetic, but he's still a morally bankrupt human being. Skyler's story is compelling because she's watching the man she loves turn into a monster right before her very eyes. She didn't sign up for any of this. She thought she was marrying a nice guy teacher, but has ended up with a drug kingpin and a killer. She can't accept his actions, but she also can't leave either, partially because she's financially dependent on him and partially because she still loves him. Skyler is one of the more tragic and misunderstood characters on the show.
