I finally got the courage to watch this…..not a horror person. There was no chance I’d watch. But hearing in all the Jinny’s kitchen programs & how much everyone loved this decided to try. I thought worst comes to worst I’ll just turn it off. I’m going to agree about the anxiety, mine was freaking out. I did get through it all & really loved it! 🫶🫰💜🥰

2021-12-03 23:22:21 +0000 UTCah, my favorite thing is how this movie just sets it up to be something predictable which it’s not and then throws you in for a loop when you least expect it! you guys seem to be natural born theorists so maybe the shock was a bit less intense, but i really had no sense of what was going to happen next after a certain point 😅 so props to you!

2021-12-01 11:46:18 +0000 UTCpeople have already explained the true metaphor of the title “parasite” and i hope it became a lot clearer now that there is no literal physical parasite. but i also wanted to point out that the rich mom’s actress was the person who Namjoon was referring to on the NA PD run episodes, when someone didn’t recognize her and he was like “she was in parasite come on” lol. also idk if you guys realized but the special noodles they were referring to in the movie “chapaguri” bts likes very much! they’ve had it on both in the soop seasons and in the first time they were like “this is how they make it in parasite” ! just some little pointers you maybe didn’t remember <3

It might help to know that the director usually also includes climate change and how it dispaportionately affects the poor in his films...that's why the scene of the flooding water running down into the poorer homes. The rich people typically live higher and don't have to worry about those issues. He also said that when people are poor they sometimes have to fight or step on other poor people to survive. That's why the poor family didn't seem to care about kicking out the housekeeper and her husband.

And that smell is eventually what evokes Mr. Kim to kill the boss (because of inferiority complex that the rich will never going to understand their pain and situation). The rich never understands what the poor are going through, and you can see in the rich family's house, there are only scenes that people are going upstairs, while the poor family went all downstairs to their home in the rain, which symbolizes the gap between their class. The rich on the top, the poor on the bottom. The poor family is the Parasite who sneaked into the host's house and life which was never theirs. It's a sad depressing story. The director who made this movie is so good at addressing these kind of social classification and problem in his movies. I hope you read this and help you understand the perspective little more:)

I too thought it would be a horror film and I kept waiting for the scary stuff to happen. At a certain point though I didn't care because the family's schemes had me hooked, and then the craziest twist I'd seen in a while happened and it had instantly become one of my favorite movies I'd watched that year.

Aside from describing the poor leeching money off the rich, the Park family is also a parasite. Without the ability to wash dishes or tidy their house, they use their money to exploit poor families with their cheap labour”

Surely you would suddenly realize that all of this weird stuff only started happening once this new guy got hired and brought in all of these people. The amount of times i cringed watching this, help me. 🤣 There were so many twists and turns and wow, i was equally as shocked as you two. Haha and cait, that dude was already well messed up in the brain.. he was bound to lose it one way or another.. he ain't right. He creepily worships the owner. This made me think of those stories with celebrities who find out that some stranger was secretly living in their mansion. Those places are so huge that you wouldn't be able to tell. Scary stuff.
