Area 51 & the Geography of a Secret (Ad Free)

Hey everyone,

Here's the ad free version of the newest video. Sorry again for taking so long both in terms of making this and posting it here (I've been catching up on my sleep lol).

The impetus for this video was that lately I've been feeling weird about if I could comfortably call any of my work "art". Like, yes, I have a super broad definition of art and even if I didn't my work would probably fit almost any definition, but also it's not something I would generally feel confident calling capital A "Art". This video was my attempt to make something that I could proudly say that about and I'm so glad that it's been so well received.

Anyways, thanks for all the support, I know it's cliche but you folks are fully why I have the luxury to take longer on video and make stuff like this which I'm unbelievably grateful for.

Wishing a happy Turkey Day to those who celebrate! I'll be starting work on my next video soon and will post updates as I go.

Hi, I know this is not the right place for it, but Twitter demanded I give it money to be able to dm you, so I decided to not do that and find another way. I have discovered a show that seems like it could potentially be really interesting to dissect: it’s called Psychic Kids, and as far as I can tell, the show is about a guy named Chris bringing together 2-3 titular psychic kids and “helping them develop their psychic powers” and it is WILD just bringing kids to places that clearly trigger very strong negative emotions and just like, convincing them that the ideas that are scaring them are real???

It's not often that I'll sit down willingly and watch the equivalent of a feature film on a random topic someone dives deep into nerdery on - and be pleasantly surprised by it diving into my niche interest nerdery. That's the power of how well researched, thoughtful and approachable you make your videos. It's also a testament to how you strive to make it both smart and pretty - the set is like reaching back into time where it's just us the audience and the narrator sitting down for a quick chat that turns into pulling out our collective magnifying glasses and going out to investigate that sound we heard. It's why I'm a subscriber. Even the older reality TV mockery episodes had this element to it. That's a talent.

Fantastic piece of art. This is a weird thing in that the content is not really up for artistic "interpretation" since it's a product of research and very explicit in its findings. But for sure, the presentation is art. So let me give you some unsolicited and honest feedback on the art. While the emotion of the music is spot on with the content, the volume is at times loud and intrusive. But the presentation is awesome in all other respects (love the ashtray). I love where you're going with this. See: Oliver/Abigail Thorne's artistic progression. Keep on doing what you're doing, it is great.

I've been a fan for a long time, and this video pushed me to finally become a patron. I think you achieved your goal and on top of that your original research felt like an important synthesis and a meaningful contribution to open source intelligence about the US government agencies we don't get to hear much about!
