The boys head off to BBC and Rough Trade to showcase their talents in the Big Apple (Ben). I don't remember much about the radio show other than I think we played pretty well. The BBC studio is pretty nuts though. It's massive and gorgeous and most likely extremely expensive. It was definitely a milestone to play there.

The rough trade show I remember almost nothing about.

SD: Visiting the BBC Maida Vale studios was definitely a memorable experience! I remember seeing photos lining the endless hallways with artists ranging from Bing Crosby to the XX. Most of the photos captured full orchestras filling up these massive live rooms as they supported smaller pop acts. But here we were with a setup that could easily fit in the microphone closet haha.

I remember wandering the corridors in search of a vending machine lunch hoping that I would stumble across Delia Derbyshire's Radiophonic Workshop somewhere in the basement. But no luck.

We must have missed the memo about having a ride to Rough Trade after, because I definitely remember taking the tube over as we made our way to the record store. But maybe that was due to the fact the car could only fit one person with the three guitars. After the relatively short Rough Trade set, Andrew haggled with two guys outside rival Indian restaurants as they were each vying for more walk-in customers. At the end of it all I think he managed to get us a free order of naan or something, but other than that we all agreed the food was pretty underwhelming.

WT: I remember doing a pretty cool version of Ending of Dramamine on BBC. It wasn't a live broadcast, so I think I asked the engineer after doing a take if we could overdub to fix mistakes, and got a weird look for him. I suppose it had to be live, even if it wasn't "live".
