Hi. So I've been enjoying some time "off" with my family which is to say passively reading books over the course of the holidays and watching 3 seasons of Hannah Montana. The chance that the next video will be about Hannah Montana is almost certain. But as always... Will it REALLY be about Hannah Montana? Or is it about subjectivity in late capitalism? I DONT KNOW!!!! I wish I could turn the lens off.
I've sent some Patron thank you notes today :) and I am also in the process of revamping the discord and recruiting some mods but all in due time as I'm applying for some MFA programs (the true mark of a quarter life crisis).
Here's some of the books I've been reading in the attached pic. I've always been reticent to even touch a video involving Hegel because it's just so complicated. But somehow I'm evermore drawn to it because how can we understand subjecthood without at least grazing Hegel? With most social theoretical frameworks for the video, I'm able to autism my way through a few major canonical books and interpret them well enough with my soc degree background. But I don't know. Entering the Zizek, Lacan, Hegel, Deleuze zone puts me in scary theory-bro territory. I remember a jazz musician friend of mine told me about being intimidated by music theory bros but only because they secretly want to be a music theory bro. Maybe I'm scared of social theory-bros because I secretly want to be them. Talk about self and other!
Hope you're doing well.
