THAT'S NOT JOHN. I don't believe for a second that John would abandon trying to stop Kane, especially when Arthur died to give him the chance, to selfishly rejoin the KIY. Nope. I will not believe it. 🫠

Y'all I am waiting for SOME kind of shoe to drop, the re-entry of KIY feels too.. understated, too calm. After all these years I am SUSPICIOUS. (Perhaps maybe too much 😅)

It’s interesting to me that this major plot point, the reunion between John and Arthur, hasn’t been treated with the same build up of narrative framing that other significant plot points have received. I’m having trouble finding the words to describe exactly what that narrative framing has looked like for past events. But this moment feels so much different? And I don’t think it’s because of the way it’s been built up and anticipated by the fan base.
The kind of gentle landing of, “Oh, the King in Yellow wants to see me? Just another day in Carcosa,” feels so abruptly natural, in a very intentionally unsettling way. There’s so much about Harlan’s delivery of this scene/event that makes me suuuuuuper excited to see how the architecture of the series continues to build on this chapter in particular.

I've been non-stop thinking about this chapter for two days, and I can't help but make the connection that Arthur and John are both in the EXACT same situation.
Arthur: Reborn, no more scars, and joined with a new entity in Lilith
John: Reborn, and as the KIY whole, his cloak would no longer be in tatters. and joined with a new entity in Yellow.
Arthur discovered new abilities in being able to silence Lilith, and John having new powers as the KIY.
I also really love the description of Carcosa and the bug-like inhabitants. Makes me wonder if the King in Yellow is a little bug-like under his cloak.
