Company Gave To Charity? Company Good Now! (The Jimquisition)

Activision is very generous, and there is nothing cynical about its charitable donations. If you think otherwise, you're probably some sort of unAmerican monster.

Let's not consider the company's unwarranted financial subsidies, tax dodging, and contributions to the very socioeconomic system that makes most charities grimly necessary. Let's not think about Bobby Kotick's vast wealth, or how billionaires use philanthropy to maintain their unchecked power.

So long as you don't think about anything, Activision is very generous, and there is nothing cynical about its charitable donations.

That really crystallizes the point there, Trevor. That's the root of it, isn't it? If your Charity only extends as far as what that action does for you, it's not giving. It's free advertising.

Becoming? I dont remember time when he was Pro-capitalist.

Wait. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hang on a moment. "And, another million dollars to match employee donations"? They are expecting their employees to donate in the stead of their billions of dollars of profit? So, out of the four million that they claim to have donated, they didn't even donate that much?

Egor A. Palchyk

I adore how anti capitalist Jim is becoming

So you’re in favour of zero taxes, and with that, presumably you’re in favour of having none of the things taxes pay for: roads, schools, fire departments...?

Pete Spicer

I'm fine with tax deductible charitable donations. That's one of the few things keeping tax from being outright theft; apportion. Tax Evasion is Theft Evasion, for the most part! If we could all pay zero tax, I think that'd be fair. Course then by the same logic, if we could all be subsidized instead of corporations, that'd be fair..

This is probably your best work in a while, you hit everything so fucking hard on the head.

Stock buybacks underline the lie of "trickle down" economics. A lot of absurdly rich companies, when doing well, choose to use that money to make even more money for the top echelons of that company. The rank-and-file should feel grateful if they get hand sanitizer when they're obliged to keep working through a pandemic.

The only difference between CEO’s and mob bosses is that mob bosses admit that their charitable donations are for tax purposes.

Thanks for this Jim. You give more accurate information about our economy then actual news media.

Mr. Martini

"I'm very charitable, until I cap my tax writeoffs!'
