Review: Mass Effect - Andromeda

Kept you waiting, huh?

Review: Mass Effect - Andromeda

Comments

Nothing has broken the game for me yet, but it has come very close. Twice I've had to go back to my second-last autosave in order to complete a glitched quest marker. Both times the character I was trying to talk to got shut inside a room that then would not open. Really not impressed, but I can see where and why they have over-reached themselves. Fingers crossed they keep up the patches.

Does this mean there will be no more of the video glitches to the catchy music then? Damn I loved that. Thank you Jim your review kind of cemented me not getting this game. First three enjoy and is a closed book. Good to know I am not missing out of something worth while. Best of luck with the Conflakes Hermerkline thing. Join as a pateron to support you in that.

Fallout 4, too.

"When given dialog options, you kind of have to guess what Ryder’s tone will be – sometimes the text choices don’t even reflect what finally comes out of her mouth." Sounds exactly like my Dragon Age 2 experience.

I'll agree the state this was released in was pretty shit, the update this week has helped at least. I'm still having fun though and I'm not gonna let a review score ruin my personal enjoyment of the game.

Thank you :)

Really enjoyed your review. I had a much more enjoyable time with the game than you did, but all of your points definitely ring true. It disappoints the hell out of me to hear that people have had such glaring technical issues with the game, as my PC experience with it has been nearly flawless. A few strange NPC actions during dialog have occurred, and I saw the tendon-cut Ryder struggle-to-walk one time, but otherwise I have seen no issues like those you describe. Which is weirding me out - that's so backwards from a usual PC release. The dialog and writing quality was the most baffling part of the whole game... as you say, sometimes it is fantastic writing, but for the most part it's utterly forgettable and unimpressive. That's been probably the biggest disappointment for me. In all sincerity, if you ever find the time to play older games, it's worth your time to play Mass Effect 2 in its entirety. I would love to hear your thoughts on it in comparison to ME1 and ME:A, and I genuinely think you will enjoy most of it, especially the character development. Cheers! <3

Out of curiousity, if they fixed the glitches you mentioned and left things like the writing the same, would your score change and if so by how much? I'm considering getting this game at a later date after some patches and the price comes down and I get a better computer. Hopefully by then it will be sufficiently patched.
