Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement by a spellcaster)
Hanging from this necklace, two spinning rings of metal contain a tiny shard of elemental chaos from the plane of limbo. The shard’s enclosure is imperfect, warping the wearer’s reality in unexpected ways. By grasping the rings, you can briefly interrupt the shard’s containment to release a wave of chaotic energy.
Each day at dawn, roll a d20 and record the number rolled. Until the next dawn, each time you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw and you roll the recorded number, treat it as if you rolled a natural 20 instead. Additionally, this triggers a Wave of Chaos.
Wave of Chaos. As an action, you can cause the engine to emit a chaotic burst of wild magic. Each creature within 30 feet of you, including yourself, must make a roll on the Wild Magic Surge table. If you roll a 99-00 and you’re not a sorcerer, you instead choose three expended spell slots to recover, none of which can be 6th level or higher. Once you take this action, you can’t take it again until the next dawn. Waves of Chaos can still be triggered randomly by your dice rolls.
The creator of this pendant somehow severed a fragment of chaos from the plane of limbo. Why anyone would want to do this, is a mystery…
