Deep Dive and Holiday Gloom!

Greetings!

Tomorrow—Wednesday, December 10th at 6 PM Pacific Time—I will be doing a Deep Dive Q&A delving into the newly released Forge of the Artificer. You can post questions you'd like to see addressed here, or join live tomorrow on the Threshold Discord! I hope to see you there.

In the meantime, I wanted to call out some holiday specials going on at my company Twogether Studios. We've just released a new game, Jerry Garcia's Cosmic Journey—a casual press-your-luck dice game where you want to be the first to leave your bummers behind. But if you LIKE your bummers, then you might be more interested in my game Gloom. In Gloom, players uses transparent cards to tell a competitive story. You control a family of colorful characters, and you want your family to suffer miserably and die dramatically, while keeping your opponents happy, healthy, and alive. We currently have two holiday specials. In The Gloomiest Timeline you can get a signed copy of the core game along with The Gloom Chronicles and the long out of print (and never released in stores) Tabletop Gloom. The Grief Case is a box to put your Gloom in... but I'll also write a message on it to you or whoever you choose! All of these offers are while supplies last -- we only have a few Gloom Cases. Twogether is a small business and we're shipping these things out of our basement, and we always appreciate your business. So whether you're feeling gloomy or not, check out the site!

Happy holidays—unless you're playing Gloom, in which case I hope they're truly miserable!

Oh, I forgot to post my question! What are your thoughts on Baron d'Kundarak and Tolar Paelion being blood brothers? Also, connected to that, do you think Paelion names have gotten a bad reputation in the last years? As in, "don't name your kid that, look what happened to the last one" (it is kinda funny in Tolar's case too, his name could be translated as "child of bones", that's a death flag if I ever saw one XD)

I suddenly noticed a new issue: Jorlanna d'Cannith had an ex-boyfriend from House Deneith. Is this new lore? Because if her previous relationship ended due to the Aberrant Dragonmark, how could Kkressd—who was posing as a scion of House Orien—have started a relationship with her? Since Kkressd isn't mentioned in the books, can we assume this plot point has been removed?

Hello, the content of Forge of the Artificer has left me with many questions. In Forge of the Artificer, several Dragonmarked House Renown Perks are provided, but the ability “A member of the house casts for you a different spell of level 8 or lower at half the usual cost” seems impossible to implement within the lore. I cannot imagine anyone from a Dragonmarked House being able to cast an 8th-level spell. A similar issue appears in Airborne Encounters, entry #1: “A gleaming Lyrandar Air Cruiser helmed by a Friendly but pompous Noble Prodigy or Lyrandar Scion.” Noble Prodigies can cast Shatter (level 7 version) and Befuddlement. Are these NPCs overly powerful? In Muskets in Eberron, 2024 Edition, you provided several ways to use muskets in Eberron. In Forge of the Artificer, three monsters wield muskets: Boromar Smuggler, Boromar Underboss, and Sentinel Marshal. The Boromar Underboss uses Arcane Firearms, and the Boromar Smuggler can purchase “copper” from the black market—both of which I can understand. However, the Sentinel Marshal using a pistol strikes me as odd; he doesn't seem to have a compelling reason to wield one. Finally, House Tarkanan has a new leader known as the Son of Khyber. Who do you think he might be?
