Progress update - August

Hello everyone! This month’s progress update is here, I can finally start working on the animations.

Kana's scene

Her part of the update is practically done, only the animations remain, which I’ve already started rigging. There are some assets I’ll need to make while working on the animations, so I can’t finish them just yet. The script is also done (proofreading included), but I always end up expanding it while I’m working on the scenes, so I left it at 85%. I don’t want to show too much because of spoilers, but also because Kana’s scene is pretty wild, so I’m worried I might get unalived from here once it’s out. I’ll post an animation when I have it and just pray for the best.

Endings

I’m slowly working on them, getting most of the assets ready that I know I’ll need for sure, like sprites and backgrounds. I upgraded Rea’s sprite a bit without changing her pose too much. What do you think? It’s not super noticeable at first glance, but her old sprite was kinda rough.

I also upgraded the capsule apartment, but I can’t match the old rendering settings I used for the earlier BGs (since I was using an older version of Lumion). I don’t want to show it too much because I think it looks worse in some aspects… I’ll have to see once it’s ingame.

As for the other BGs, I already modeled the sewers and the other three locations for Ending 3, and they’re almost ready too. Once I have the animations, we’ll see how many CGs I actually end up using and finish this up.

Release date

If it were just Kana’s scene + Ending 1 left to finish, I’d probably be able to release it in late September, so realistically it should be ready by October. Once I have all the endings done, I’ll take a closer look at the code to see what I can optimize, plus I’ll be adding the Spanish fan translation to the game and making it easier to add other languages.

Sorry I’m not more active on the server, but I’m super busy with IRL work stuff. I’m still working on the game, so don’t worry. After this update is done I’ll finally be able to go back and rework some of the worst-looking parts of the game. I’ve been wanting to do that for a while, but I wanted to leave the game in a solid spot before backtracking. Having most of the sprites and BGs already finished lifts a lot of the workload for the future.
