We must remember that Umamusume keeps the racing careers extremely faithful to the real history. The races, the line-ups and winners, even some of the overtakes, camera angles and stadium commentators are taken 1 to 1 from the history of Japanese horse racing. Even Soccer Boy's injury and the resulting withdrawal from the classic series, as well as his replacement by Yaeno Muteki, really happened in 1988. The events surrounding these races did not originate from the mind of the author or the scriptwriters, but reflect what really happened. Things like plot armor or plot convenience are almost non-existent.
