I've seen that theory floating around too, but I don't think it holds up. Puck contracted with Emilia before Subaru even showed up. And there's no reason he'd just assume that. There's more reasons too why I don't think that's the case, but I don't wanna get into spoilers here.

2024-08-31 22:13:00 +0000 UTCNow, this is just a personal theory of mine. But Puck saying by the terms of his contract he'll destroy the world if Emilia dies. I've come to interperate that as Puck's way of holding the whole world hostage.

Emilia acted fearsome with the merchant to cut ties and protect the village from bandits who would make threats to gather info against Emilia. When you get there, most IF stories have (mild) season 3 spoilers. You can check out Sloth (aka Rem IF) safely though. The only one with massive spoilers is Gluttony.
