VINTAGE SUMMER

As most people do, I long for simpler times. Not that times were ever simple, but our perceptions of them were. When you were a kid, you probably weren’t aware of political strife, genocides happening on the other side of the world, or blatant racism and hatred that permeated every corner of our country. You cared about that toy your parents wouldn’t buy you, the extra scoop of ice cream your sibling received that you didn’t.

But now, with 24 hour media, thousands of cable channels, and social media reminding you constantly about what you don’t have, what’s wrong with the world, and so much more negativity, it’s easy to wish things would go backwards. But that’s never a good thing.

Despite the current state of flux, things are better now in many ways than they’ve ever been. Less drugs used by teens, less teenage pregnancy, far less crime than even 30 years ago, and much more.

At least for today, let’s reflect on this series taken intentionally to make you feel as though those hazy summer days of the past are fresh and new again. I wish you all a grand and healthy weekend full of friendship and love!
