MERMAID, pt. 3

MERMAID

Jessamyne and I had shot all morning, exploring caves, hiking through hills, and climbing over countless sharp and precarious rocks. (Click on her hashtag “jessamine” to see them all!) Before we left the beach, I couldn’t resist getting at least a few shots of her in the water itself, and thankfully the water was just above freezing so she felt comfortable enough to try it.

Unlike the shadows we’d been shooting in previously that morning, the direct sunlight out in the water seemed intense, especially for her pale, Aussie skin. Fearing an intense and fast-acting sunburn, she wore her large, floppy hat that’s she’s known for and strode confidently out into the water. After several shots with the hat, and a few focused on her butt, I had her toss the hat back out to me so we could shoot a few quick images without it. 

As always, the shots of her were soft and delicate and beautiful, and I once again had to remind myself that she was an unattainable Australian princess. We had started to amass a small crowd of locals and tourists after a few minutes, so I tossed her a towel and she covered up enough so we could climb the long flight of stairs back up to the car. 

We perused our productive morning’s photos in the vehicle for several minutes, then we headed into Pismo Beach for breakfast. She went and changed into something a bit more suitable, then we sat and enjoyed a nice breakfast. There we sat overlooking the water in a fancy and over-priced restaurant that focused more on health food that required too many adjectives to describe than just making a hardy and delicious meal. Still, as always, the company was spectacular and we had a grand time together. An hour later she’d be back on her way to LA and I’d be left to edit photos while trying not to fantasize about redheads in general.

There isn’t much else to say about that morning, but once again I was left speechless and overjoyed by another great visit with my buddy Jessamyne. 

Are you tired of Jessamyne yet? I hope not because I have many more sets of her to come and plans to work with her for a very long time!
