THE BALCONY RUSH
It’s difficult sometimes to be logical about my time, especially in the face of creativity. I was shooting with Lillias Right earlier this month for a full weekend. We shot from Friday evening all the way through Sunday morning, and though we’d been wonderfully productive and had a lot of fun, we were both pooped.
After the long Saturday shoot, which had stretched from 10am to 4pm, something I never do, I didn’t want to take another photo. I was drained, creatively and verbally. As I packed up my gear and started saying my goodbyes, she walked over to the sliding glass door of her hotel room to see what the weather was like. In that moment she looked radiant, and I told her to hold still while I pulled my camera back out and continued to shoot.
I knew I had already shot too much to edit that day, but I couldn’t help myself. She just looked too damn good. Even though I’m not a huge fan of heights, I walked out on the balcony and took shots of her with the dimly lit room behind her, the yellow bulbs from the lamps glowing like small suns.
I only took a few dozen photos, which means I wasn’t serious about shooting any more. Still, I couldn’t let the moment pass without documenting it, so here is a link to about 40 images. Let me know what you think!
