Once we were done on the cliff, she slipped her sweatpants and sweatshirt back on and we began walking up the trail of blooming flowers. I spied this purple thistle that I had only seen in movies, whose seeds must have laid dormant in that cliff side for years. I couldn't help but take a photo and want to share it with you all. It might seem common to most of you, but as a Californian who has lived in constant cycles of drought, I was shocked that the seed had survived for so long.
