We have a surprise portrait of Percy as the intro to officially announcing that I have made progress on the PGTS-Universe book, The Catastrophe Collector.
You may remember Percy from Book 3: A Sacrifice of Light, where he appeared in the "Excessive Force" chapter, after which Oliver hired him (and his camera obscura) to help with The People's Voice newspaper.
He's been in Gilbratha the whole time, flailing his way into and out of trouble everywhere trouble is to be had. Sometimes, adjacent to Siobhan's own trouble.
I had the idea for Percy's story while writing Book 1, and I've been working on actually developing it here and there for almost a year and a half now. Progress is very slow, because this story is not my main focus, and I only work on it for an hour or less when I have finished my normal tasks for the day and am indulging in some evening workahol.
Both the individual chapters and the book itself are significantly shorter than their PGTS counterparts, and I'm now at the point in development where I feel safe talking about it.
The first chapter of The Catastrophe Collector is coming Monday, May 22. (About 2 weeks from now.)
While the first few chapters will be free to everyone, I currently have no plans to post this story on RoyalRoad or other free serialization sites. It'll be available to patrons, people on my Inner Circle newsletter, and eventually for sale.
In adjacent news, the Patreon tiers are going to change slightly starting next month. The $5 tier is going to lose the single PGTS chapter it currently offers, to be replaced with all current TCC chapters. Not a specific number, just however many there are at that point in time.
This won't affect most of you, as very few people support me at that tier, which I believe is largely because it's a better deal to get 5 chapters for $7 at the next tier up.
This will provide specific content for the $5 tier, and overall will only increase the amount of story content available to all patrons. (It will also make the back end a lot easier for me.)
If you're at the $7 tier or higher already, you're automatically going to get all the TCC chapters, too. You don't need to do anything.
If you're at the $5 tier, starting next month you will have access to the TCC chapters, bonus content, and illustrations, but not to any advanced PGTS main-story chapters.
