Personal Stuff

So in the last 6 months I've gained 52 patrons... and lost 57. I understand that leaving a Patreon is often more about their needs than what I'm doing but at some point I have to face that I'm doing something wrong.

I want to be a worthwhile investment that adds value in the way people are looking for. Part of me feels that people are accustom to a standard of 1 page a week for comic creators and not only have I failed miserably at approaching that goal but in the last update I took a break from my already meager 8 page comic project. I can't meet the standards of output consistency that the quality of my art implies.

But I also know that I simply don't know what people want or expect out of me and this Patreon. All I can do is try to be the best artist I can, and I think I'm succeeding in that. my most recent pieces are noticeably improving and I think that every Patron Prompt has been better than the last.

Patron Prompts aren't the ongoing comic I pitched last year but I'm sticking with these characters. I've decided to soft rebrand to "Dads with Benefits" as a title for my entire body of canon work involving the characters from my comics. It feels like its gotten bigger than just "Izvys OCs" and I want to keep developing them across many projects in the future. I've created an archive of all canon art since 2019. 

My next Dads with Benefits project is Roleplay, a 4 part illustration series finally giving a proper introduction to Rasheed and his relationship with Gautam. A goal of which is to avoid cutting corners as much as possible so I can improve my digital painting skills. I also want to release them weekly and I'm trying some new ADHD friendly techniques that will hopefully fair better than previous attempts at similar projects.
