Musings: October [IMPORTANT NEWS!]

Hey there, my ever-generous and loyal patrons! It’s officially October now! Time to get spooky!

So, I’ve been thinking, which is usually not a good sign. It’s kinda hard to figure out where to start, so forgive me if I ramble a bit here. I’m considering dramatically shortening what I count as a ‘chapter’ to something like 2-4k words instead of 5-10k. There’s a lot of reasons to do it, and a lot of reasons not to, but by my reckoning, the pros outweigh the cons. For one, I’ve definitely been struggling to put out full-length chapters lately. By The Horns ch. 5 was insane, it just kept going and going and going… The Jock and the Sissy was easier, but I basically approached it like a musing in the first place, and I’m stalled on my current commission, so I’m not making real progress there. I’m finding it much easier to work in the shorter format of a musing, though. Additionally, I’ve been noticing most of the other writers I follow tend to be writing chapters in the 2-4k length range. Beyond that, shorter chapters means faster turnaround, more stuff getting done in a month. I could actually get around to stuff that people have been waiting months, even YEARS for. I could theoretically even start to make a dent in my commision list, perhaps even eventually clear it! High-tier patrons could get full-on CHAPTERS each month! There would almost undoubtedly be more chapters that don’t actually feature sex being posted, though. I suspect even considering this possibility aloud will cost me some patrons (reminder, you can cap your pledge so you don’t end up getting charged too many times in a month) but the increased frequency of chapters means I’ll probably end up making a little more money, which would be REALLY welcome right about now, and it’ll keep me more ‘active’ on the various sites I post to… Of course, there’s no guarantee it will work. I don’t know if I CAN deliver what I’m considering here. But I really want to give it a try, just to see how it feels, at the very least. 

So, what does this mean for you guys, my understanding patrons, in the end? Right now, nothing. I’m going to test-run this new idea this month. Basically, you’ll be getting a bunch of longer musings this month, with more effort put into them and better editing. THERE WILL NOT BE MORE CHARGES THIS MONTH. In the long run? I haven’t worked out all the details, honestly. Ideally, I’d like to be doing a chapter/week, posting stuff around on friday afternoons instead of just the first of the month. Patreon tiers will definitely need to be reworked if I go with this. The highest tier would be basically what I have at $25 now, mostly unchanged, but instead of a monthly musing it’ll just be a regular chapter. $5 and $10 would probably be consolidated into the $5… There’s a lot to consider, but I want to see if the basic idea even works before I get too far into the logistics of it.

Okay, now that that’s been addressed, we can get down to the usual business. Last month saw FOUR musings! Onigokko, The Pillar of Glory P.1, The Tale of Mirabel and Erik the Pure P.2, and Lien’s Adventures Ch. 4, all of which I’ll be posting around today. This month, I’ve got one musing request so far, but I’ll have to see if they don’t want to change it after they see this post.
