Custom Characters Explained

Hey guys, this will be an overview of how custom characters work and what you can expect as a supporter. If you're already using custom characters, this probably won't include anything you're not familiar with.

Starting off, everyone supporting the game gets 20 custom character slots. Each of the characters you make can be shared with any other player with the sharable link, and their stats are tracked across games. To reset the stats, change the race and the name of the character at the same time. 

Making Your Character

The name lines have a few cool tricks to them. The game tries to capture the first word used as the shortened name of the character in the scene. This can be modified with underscores and pluses. You can use underscores to skip the first word, and instead use the next part of the name as the name used in the prose. Queen_Jiggles, the Busty Catgirl will be referred to as Jiggles in the prose. Alternatively, Queen+Jiggles, the Busty Catgirl will be referred to as Queen Jiggles in the prose. The game also uses the full name for determining dog breed as well as naga types too. Including "rattle" in your naga's name will make them a rattlesnake for example.

Custom characters get all of the same nonbinary options included with the player, as well as many gender neutral options.

Some races also get extra options too. Bunnies can become magic users, deer can become flying reindeer, and in 2034 we'll legally be able to have rednosed reindeer too. Slimes get both a color and flavor to choose. Cowfolk with hypertits also get a flavor option, which will affect their milk. Sheep get a color which will determine what their wool looks like. Other special options include making some species super tiny, and others very big.

Any character with a dynamic bodytype will start out as smol/skinny/tiny. Eating will help grow their body and they'll get bigger and bigger just as the player does with the weight gain settings.

To express the characters more, there's also the personality option, and you can also make your characters "Wildcards" who will take actions in combat based off of what they want to do. The Encounter and Public options allow these characters to be found out on your adventures, or out on the adventures of other folks playing the game. This can be enabled/disabled at any time.

The favorites mechanic isn't used too much, but there are some custom encounters that'll require you to fulfill their wants. This will be expanded on in the future.

The relationship option allows you to select a predefined relationship or allow you to write in your own. This is a good way to add your fictional landlady or roommate to the game. 

Out In The World

When starting a new game, you'll have the option of choosing who comes along, as well as choose if you'll meet anyone out in the world.

Hostile encounters will be quite tough so don't be surprised when you find your adventure cut short within the sloshing stomach of a familiar face.

Friendly encounters happen in unique locations specifically built for your OC to show up in. Get a drink at the tavern, soak into a steamy bath, or stuff yourself silly at the diner! There's about a dozen unique encounters for your custom characters in the game already and I absolutely love writing these cute scenes so expect plenty more to come! 

So in conclusion, custom characters are fun! I think they add a lot to the world and make everything feel special and interesting. These scenes bring a lot of joy to the game and allow me to be a bit sillier with my writing than usual.
