In the comics he makes it to the end snd was supposed to in the show as well but AMC is cheap and Carl's actor turned 18 and they just didn't want to pay him an adults wage lol. They even told him he'd survive and he bought a house by the set just for them to kill him anyways (which they also did to Andreas actress who JUST signed an 8 season contract the same season they killed her). Just sucks all around. Also crazy to remember all of season 7 and 8 takes place over like a single month lol. From the prison fall to now only 4/5 months has passed lol Carl is still only around 14 at most here. Good thing is, this is the worst season by far lol. Season 9 is miles better thanks to the new showrunner they get. It only dips again in season 11 which isn't a bad season imo just not as good as it could've been, still enjoyable.
