Wow wtf did google tell you about ivy lmao. I think ai thought the protagonist in ivy died because the start if the song takes place in a cemetery. “I meet you where the spirit meets the bones.” Where life and death meet, where living visit the dead. And “the old widow goes to the stone everyday, but I don’t I sit here and wait, grieving for the living.” The stone is the tombstone, the widow visits her dead husband but the character in the song is grieving for someone still alive because they love one another secretly. This song is rumored to be about Emily Dickinson and her brothers wife, some people believe Emily and Sara had an affair and could not be together because to be gay then was to be persecuted.
