Alien: Earth - Episode 8 'The Real Monsters'

The kids are awry

We've reached the finale of Alien: Earth! This week we discuss episode 8, 'The Real Monsters'.

The journey has ended, and have we been walking in a circle this whole time? The hybrid kids use soft(ware) power to launch a coup, we finally get to see that Morrow vs Kirsh showdown, the orchid escapes, and Johnny Eyeball finds a new home. Are we happy? Nearly. How are you doing?

I feel you on this. We used to get 20 - 26 weeks of X Files, Battlestar Galactica, etc. Now it's years long waits for 8 episodes of THIS.

I felt a little let down with the final episode. There just wasn't enough resolution, cumeuppance, or consequences to the antagonists. It felt like a midseason cliffhanger break. I'm old enough to remember when TV series seasons were 24 episodes and not 8. They would do midseason breaks for holidays and nothing over the summer. There just wasn't enough closure to Alien Earth, if a season 2 isn't greenlit. It's one thing for this ending when we know the next episode or season starts in a couple months. It just has that corporate feel of stay subscribed to watch the next season in a year or so. Now I'm turning into "old man get off my lawn" I better go relax.

Not so sure about a LoTR commentary, raging at Rob for all the things he gets wrong. John Carpenter season looking forward to. Will definitely watch "Prince of Darkness" before the podcast, great flipping film.
