A client bought this helmet for a themed shoot and gave it to me afterwards a few years back. Naturally, I wanted to do some sort of Frank Miller "300" concept using a male model, however Steph was competing in fitness shows and training pretty hard, so I figured it would be cool twist in the theme to use her.
I was going to order some costume type items like a sword and some armor; but I did not want to cheapen the shoot with fake looking props, nor did I want to spend alot of money on something that would look legit. Steph mentioned to me, "weren't spartans naked all the time anyway?" Simple enough.
I waited over a year before posting censored versions of some of these photos, fearing it was too much nudity for IG. When I finally did I got overwhelming positive feedback.
The photos above were two different shoots over a couple months apart.
In the end, I am happy I used Steph for this concept. It was a balance of matching ferocity with elegance while using no props other than the helmet and cloak. Her posing helps deliver the narrative of war and peace.
I plan to do part 3 this spring in an outdoor setting.
