Comments
seeing people fail is the worst part of survival shows, its so sad seeing them not to well or get harsh results (too harsh sometimes) from the judges, but at least it helps them getting better and improve

2024-01-23 05:59:14 +0000 UTCWooou, I didn know about One Pact, have to check it out 🙂. By Jay I mean Jay Chang, our boy from LA, I like that he can get more recognitions by this shows, and honestly, if he realy want to be succesful in Korea then that's the way Yes Built Up -Im looking forward to this show

2024-01-23 05:54:34 +0000 UTCYes Keita and Hui were favorites of mine too! I love their debut MVs! Spoilers - Jay is in a kpop group ONE PACT with Jongwoo (formerly Ze.U from Black Level), Yedam, Seongmin (formerly Jerome of T01) and TAG (formerly of CIIPHER) all from Boys Planet -- though TAG left just after the star level test -- and their debut MV went viral (5.9milion) from the perspective of their small entertainment company starting from scratch -- with no built-in audio on YT or MNET) and Jay having no control over what FM entertainment does with the YT page they own and manage in his name. Kangnam (a former kpop star himself) was so impressed by Jongwoo that he collaborated with him and created Armanda Entertainment out of the blue to start a grass roots movement to create a permanent kpop boy group, putting the leadership and team building into Jongwoo's capable hands . Jongwoo formed the team. ONE PACT debuted Nov 30th, and TAG produced 5 out of the 6 songs on their first mini album called Moment. Moment is a no skips album. Jay Chang debuted as a solo artist in October with his own album Late Night, and worked with the producers of Say My Name and Over Me from Boys Planet on his album (which has a more broad range of music genres in one mini album). He has MVs out for Rockstar and I'll Be There, though my favorite song of his is a K-R&B song called Up To You). Jay is also in the upcoming MNet vocal idol survival show called Build Up that airs January 26th, which takes some of the top vocalists in debuted groups, etc., and attempts to put together a 4-person vocal group.

2024-01-23 00:11:14 +0000 UTCI realy rooted for Keita, Jay and Hoe Taek ....Hoe Taek catched my heart in Triple H with Dawn also.....and ofc MNet's editing is so evil by some part.....but with few MNet's survivals show we already knew.....spoiler So sorry for the whole situation with Hoe Taek, but last week he finaly came out with new song, Keita did made it to the finals but I am actualy happy that he did not ended up in zb1 but with other contestants from BP they had finaly group for long term EVNNE Jay is awsome, but homestly he is not type for kpop groups...but at least he gained some popularity in Korea thanks to this show, he has his own YT channel

2024-01-22 19:25:53 +0000 UTCJay was the only reason I watched boys planet and seeing him get so disrespected in real time hurt. I was proud of him for getting as high a rank as he did even with the horrible editing, though.

2024-01-04 14:27:18 +0000 UTCYou will find that they edit out a lot of Jay's screen time in coming episodes (unless they are pitting his talent against someone with a fan base that gets them riled up), in fact we recently found out that after their Rush Hour performance Jay had actually pulled out his guitar and sang a song he wrote and produced called Four Seasons (he is an amazing composer and vocalist), but MNet chose not to air it. Several trainees from both G and K groups got negative edits, and some we're targeted with smear campaigns and social media hits that impacted local voting and put pressure on MNet even when everything was debunked. If you later watch individual performances that got uploaded to YouTube and read the comments you'll get a hint at the tip of the iceberg on what was going down during the show. For some of us it got pretty traumatic later. Anyway, I would just suggest focusing on your favorites that do well and really enjoy the amazing talent that surfaces in coming episodes. There are some epic performances!

2023-12-31 19:59:49 +0000 UTCThere's a married gay couple (full experts in kpop, musical theater, drag race, and other important cultural moments) on youtube with a channel called The Ampliverse. They HILARIOUSLY recapped each episode of BP while it was airing with their show, Boys Love Boys Planet. It's right up your alley and it's worth a watch to keep up with all the boys and behind moments lol.

2023-12-31 04:04:05 +0000 UTCI can rewatch the show now more at easy because A LOT of people that didn't make to the group, ended up debuting in another groups, so it's a little less painfull.

2023-12-30 13:12:18 +0000 UTCI'm really enjoying these boys planet reactions and if you haven't already watched produce 101 season 2 (wannaone season) I would highly recommend it - it's my favourite season and boys planet is basically produce just divided into global and korean trainees

2023-12-30 11:41:11 +0000 UTCi promise you the queer shit is gonna be ranked up to the max in the most genuine manner for sk tv. like, there’s certain contestants that are so unbelievably special in such subtle but powerful queer expression (particularly shanbin, haruto and woongki)

2023-12-30 00:20:01 +0000 UTCI believe the no stars inability to sing is cus they’re rappers and that’s how they got on the show. It’s a little unfair that their first song is vocal heavy with zero raps so some can’t keep up. Definitely not all rounders

2023-12-29 10:16:55 +0000 UTCI think also in return, Hui also became a valuable resource as a mentor to the other trainees. He's someone who's been in the industry for awhile and has more insight and experience than the average trainee that he can share. And while the mentors are great at what they do, Hui is able to communicate to those younger bros in a way they couldn't because he was basically living the survival show life with them. I remember in the beginning thinking it was going to be so awkward to have Hui as a veteran competing against trainees but ultimately I think things worked out on both sides, Hui got to learn the basics from the trainees and he became the big brother/mentor to them and helped guide each other through this MNET hell.

2023-12-28 14:03:03 +0000 UTCI'm loving watching this show again with you 💙 I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did and I also didn't realize how gay it would be 😁😁😁

2023-12-28 07:10:12 +0000 UTCI'm trying not to give too much away as Cameron is watching the show, for him, in "real time". But if you're familiar with KPOP, and Hwang Min Hyun has been introduced as the first Star Master, there is the Wanna One connection (Hui was one of the producers of Energetic, the mentors already mentioned that). And if you familiar with Triple H, you'll know about E'Dawn. Hui/E'Dawn were lyricists/composers/producers for Pentagon as well, so when E'Dawn had to leave Pentagon, it left a gap in the group. Pentagon did have success (they were on Kingdom), but when members became of that particular age and started going into the military (including Hui), the group lost momentum. Cube isn't known for taking care of their artists. Pentagon members finally started to leave Cube in Oct/Nov 2023.

2023-12-28 06:59:13 +0000 UTCThis is sad. I know almost nothing about Pentagon. But I loved Hui in Triple H. His voice was crazy .And Hui performed so beautifully. I haven't watched Boys Planet yet, but I think he in very tough place mentally .Even so he tries to downplay it . I was thinking about his dancing skills. Didn't he resently discharged from military?I pretty sure he didn't practice there dance actively for almost 2 years. And before that his group wasn't as active .It kinda explains stuff. Just my thoughts.

2023-12-28 03:49:20 +0000 UTCTrainees knew Park Han Bin was the go-to guy to ask when it came to choreo and he is such a great teacher, patient, a good leader, and he knew how to communicate one-to-one and to a group. Hui/Lee Hoe Taek was smart to pick up on that and ask his help on the Signal Song. Throughout BP, Hoe Taek knew to survive, he would need to rely on the other trainees. This was a new paradigm for him - if you think of Hui, leader in Pentagon, vs Lee Hoe Taek, trainee in Boys Planet, he could look to those younger than himself as basically a resource. Granted, the mentors were also resources but there was an invisible wall there. Between the trainees themselves, they could interact much more on a human level, it will become much more apparent in the later episodes.

2023-12-28 01:51:07 +0000 UTCIn China this type of shows is very popular and they like to do huge numbers of contestants. And sometimes do to foreigners struggling to get visa or some company disagreeing to send trainee abruptly or lack of interest for survival program they can't find enough contestants just for a pretty, round number and more footage. And then they just trying to put anyone who looked nice ,can bring more attention in the program as fast as possible. Maybe on a lot smaller scale it happens to Korean survival shows too. But I kinda beginning to believe companies completely content sending their green green ,baby trainee's on show. Even if they not performing good, they getting (harsh) lessons from superior people in industry. For a company it can coast a fortune. Some boys singing is horrible, dancing is weak but we still end up liking them, rooting for them.(Two performers in Blue 💙 and Red ♥️ silk shirts made me the happiest I been in a some time). This way contestants may gain foundation of their future fanbase. Independent trainees get much needed exposure. Idols from small , nugu teams get a chance to remind world that they exist and have some skills. But it still ridiculous how we all know some of trainee's never had one singing lesson in their lives and expect poor guys to do well ?! And then critic them ? The bit that makes me angry - staff of Boys Planet knows their skills and when performance bad , editing, coaches, and viewers pretend like it's some shocking revelation. Your reaction to Woonggi is so 🤣. He incredibly ICONIC I quiver in fear before his greatness.

2023-12-27 21:15:09 +0000 UTCWhile survival shows like these are typically for trainees, you'll usually see a few already debuted idols come in as well. Most of the time, those idols are either part of groups who have already disbanded, inactive, or rookie/unknown groups. In Keita's case, at the time of this show, Ciipher was basically inactive for some time, but since then, I don't think the group itself has officially disbanded but most of the members have left the group and company. As for Pentagon, they're just not very active recently since the members are entering/leaving the military. And the reason why companies send active idols to these shows is essentially to help gain notoriety and hopefully build a fanbase that would follow the idol once the show ends. The groups formed on these mass survival shows (where theres a large number of contestants and trainees from different companies) are temporary groups with shorter contract periods (usually 1-2 1/2 years vs the usual 7 years). Also, a common thing on these large scale survival shows is having a handful of trainees who clearly lack training and aren't ready for debut. I think it's because they're seen as more relatable to the viewers and you can usually see them improve as the show goes on. And oftentimes, you can't help but root for them, especially the ones who are genuenly trying hard (like Takuto, Doha, Mingyu). So essentially the producers likely picked them for the show because it brings something different to the table, especially when there's 98 contestants. Plus everyone loves a good underdog story. So keep an eye out on those trainees. :) Don't worry, you can call Jiwoong sexy. He's born in '98 so he's 25. For the 2 Hanbins. "Our Hanbin" is Sung Hanbin and the other Hanbin is Park Hanbin. Throughout the show, fans were referring to them as Shanbin (Sung Hanbin) and Phanbin (Park Hanbin) in order to differentiate one from the other xD

2023-12-27 17:37:33 +0000 UTCas a queer person, this show and this group brings me so much joy and hope for the future of kpop. If you get into zerobaseone later you'll be happy to learn about hanbin and zhang hao, I've been following them since the beginning of the show so I became a fan because of their predebut content and just let me say I do not regret voting for them every single day❤️🩹❤️🩹

2023-12-27 15:29:44 +0000 UTCI see no one told you, but groups that come out of shows like Boys Planet are often temporary groups. That is why a lot of already debuted idols come and try to be part of the final mine up so they can hopefully bring some notoriety to their original group. A good exemple would be Minhyun from Nu'est who was part pf Wanna One after participating in Produce 101. Nu'est was having a very hard time and some of the members went on the show to try and save the group from disbandment. Also to get more of Pentagon's backstory as they started to go to the military and to hear more from their state of mind at the time and their worries, please watch Road to Kingdom
