Weekly Update - 8/23/23

This heat is brutal, my dudes.

That said, I also realized that sometimes writer's block means I should adapt and shift to other projects. I took a break and wrote the first 2k words of Neon Stonehenge 2 (released in Alpha form yesterday) before coming back and finishing Breakpoint 12 (released a few days back). Based on that, the next several days are going to be a little bit hard to predict. The next thing on the docket's probably going to be QT2:14, for better or worse, just because I basically outlined that whole chapter, so all I need to do now is write it and flesh it out. After that, probably Brewster's Brood but at this point, I'm mostly just trying to see what'll come out quickly. We'll see what's going on.

Seems like a lot of people who read Three Days In February on the public sites felt like they needed to have read the other two Silversmith stories for it to make total sense. Maybe that's true. I'm still pretty proud of the story, and when I went back and read it, I certainly knew what was happening, although someone sent me an email asking to explain the ending, which I shot back a short but polite response, walking the person through how I saw everything happening. They didn't write back to say if my explanation made it better or worst. C'est la vie. (La vie! - Sorry, old joke habit.)

Lots of people are working on Quaranteam spin off stuff that's been popping up, and I've spent a lot of time over the last month editing, proofing and timeline checking. I said I was going to try and get a list of stuff that I knew had come out, so here's the stuff I know has at least a public chapter out:

Quaranteam: North West by Breakthebar

Quaranteam: Flyover Country by Bircheslovebooks

Quaranteam: The Upstart's Knight by AgathonWrites

Quaranteam: Dave In Dallas by RonanJWilkerson

Quaranteam: Alternating Uncertainties by SilverRyden

I think there's still another few coming that just haven't started publicly, but you can see how it's a lot of stuff I've been looking at lately. (Thankfully, some of those people are also commissioners, and they understand why their commissions are running a bit behind schedule. I'm working on'em, I promise!)

Also, as a reminder, when QT2:14 drops, it will have a content warning at the beginning of it. It's probably some of the darkest the story's been (and hopefully will get, but who knows what the future holds) and I want people to be prepared for it. If you want to just skip it and wait for QT2:15, I completely understand. But I don't want to turn a completely blind eye to the trauma in our story, so buckle up for that one. Take the warning at the top of that chapter seriously if you're the kind of person that dislikes reading about large-scale disasters or tragedy.

I meant to get this newspost out about my week up earlier, but I got caught up writing Neon Stonehenge 2 right up until it was time for me to head out and have dinner with my old friend who's only in town for a single night, superseding even my usual poker night. But that's what's what and where things are going.

As for stuff hitting the public sites, here's what we're looking at: 8/26 - 7 Secrets 6, 9/2 - QT2:5, 9/9 - QTMM 4, 9/16 - Before The Storm 6, 9/23 - QT2:5.5(Intermission 1).

That's the way it is. Good night and good luck.

You know, on second thought, ignore that request. It gives each author a touch of individuality to place their take on QT where they think it best fits.

Hi Devin. Thank you so much for the pointers on the QT offshoots. If I might make a suggestion; could you suggest all the different QT authors to place their work in the same category on Lit? They seem to be all over the place.

Devin, throughout the last few months you have spoken about stories you developed and posted on Patreon, some in public that I haven't seen here on Patreon and some that others have developed with your permission and guidance. Is there a way or a place where all these branches of the story-tree can be seen, and links provided so one can access without having to search across all kinds of places in hopes of finding them. I love the links provided in this update but wonder if you could have a story gallery that your followers can access for the universe you and your fellow writers/commissioners have created?
