State of the Game / Dev Log Feb 2023

Being a little late for this, I figured I can talk about my dev progress more.

As for why this has been late, I think I just needed a break. I've been sick, tired, and a little burned out. So I just need a few weeks to recoup and get back into focus. Now I feel better and it's given me a chance to think about some of the bugs and story flow.

I've been excited to have the player have access at all times to their quests with the new quest plugin I've been using. It has brought in some new challenges. It is tedious to track and manage each objective for each quest, so there has been a learning curve to get used to it. Meanwhile adding in content has been slower, but that's because there's happily more dimension to it. Feels like I'm making a real game, adding in sound design with some effects to help go with the dialog. Also working on a combat system that should hopefully give some strategy to that element has been something I've been wanting since the beginning. Finally the crafting system has needed more components and recipes. So when I release the next update, I hope it shows that the effort is getting spread around.

I'm also excited to see the extra support the last few months. For those that are new, please take a look at my posts for plans for release. As a reminder, I am planning on setting a early access for the release of the game on Itchio. I was hoping to have the rebuild further along, but it will help to speed up development when I move to only one version to debug and develop on. I am planning on sending keys to all Patron and Esteemed Patrons, as well as 2-month Supporters, past and present. I might try to roll this out and see if I get some volunteers to help test that your key will carry over when I update the game.

I do have the next map nearly done. I am still tweaking some quest mechanics as well as the cave. But regardless I'll get the next update soon. Thanks for your support!
