Golden NMM with the glaze technique

I would like to present to you a timelapse of me working on Saint Celestine's golden backpack with the glaze technique.
In my post below my Director's Cut patrons can find a full version of this video which is 28 minutes long, has music, my commentary, palette and color mixtures visible.
Other then that I uploaded there a step-by-step PDF tutorial about painting the other golden "arm" with the feathers.

Love the vid. I have a question for you. Probably a daft one. What is the reason for choosing to glaze darkest tone/shadows last in that way rather than say, glazing in highlights over a darker layer? This isn’t meant to sound like i’m questioning your approach, much more a desire to understand the theory and practice. 😉
