I feel like there is also a cultural disconnect here. Even with Caleb correcting Nathan’s grammar shows that there’s a communication disconnect which is fine. I remember growing up watching people in the projects and lower income communities having a Benz repossessed or buying expensive bags and not affording rent. It’s not good, but there’s a certain level of cultural context that should be acknowledged before going in on people’s stupid decisions. The man just sounds like a cousin of mine tbh, not vicious or stupid just ignorant.

2024-04-12 21:49:34 +0000 UTCI can’t help but think they were being very rough on the guy - yes the debt is terrible and such, but to call him a child or mock his car choices and such in a way that isn’t constructive, or asking him if he graduated high school, I personally don’t see how being *that* harsh in that way would provide benefit. I understand the wake-up-call aspect of it, but that could be explained far better with trying to educate someone on why it’s a bad choice - some don’t even know it is, doesn’t matter their education.
