Hey all!
We're here to start December with the first few Pick'n'Mix 9 maps, and big news about the Vampire Hunter tier. Let's get started!
This month we're bringing you a selection of varied maps that have been knocking around the team's heads for a while now!
A small ship has sunk in a colourful and vibrant coral reef, strongly intended to be evocative of the starting area of Subnautica. There are even steam vents leading down, which a DM could use to link to one of our other underwater maps for further aquatic adventures!
Foundry users are able to pass beneath or climb above a few different canopies in the form of bioluminescent scatter, fish, and coral arches!
The AshlandsThis lava-choked landscape is filled with giant mushrooms looming overhead, blasted remnants of cobble roads that were buried beneath Ash when a nearby volcano erupted, and huts for the villagers who now eke out their existance here.
The lava pools around an enormous statue worshipping the Fire Demon who has now claimed dominion over these lands!
Foundry users are able to enter the yurts, as well as passing below numerous canopy elements across the map.
Twisted GladeThis unassuming forest at night is being slowly infected by an unusual phenomenon - strange colourful rifts that erupt suddenly and violently, causing their surroundings to be changed on a dimensional scale.
For this map, we tried to create graphical elements similar to the 'glitches' seen in the Spiderverse films, and had several areas of the forest impacted by them. Some of the trees and plantlife can be seen to be glitching out, and the rift itself looks (and sounds) quite freaky in the Foundry version!
The gallery has been updated with this content, as well as pCloud, which you can access through your Theme Master List and the Foundry VTT module is updated and ready to be downloaded.
This month we're extremely excited to share that we'll finally be releasing our maps for Castle Ravenloft, which the team have been working on for over 6 months!
Ravenloft is the pinnacle of a Curse of Strahd campaign, and we've wanted to bring you what hopefully feels like a definitive Castle Ravenloft map since the very beginning of The MAD Cartographer, long even before we thought of the Vampire Hunter tier!
For Ravenloft, we've also drawn from Harrison's extensive experience as one of the moderators of the Curse of Strahd Discord and Subreddit, by incorporating small tweaks and improvements that a lot of the community often lament about the maps:
Canopy Elements.
A Hall of Bones that looks as grisly as described and with/without a Dragon Skull (as many in the community like to place Argynvost's skull in Berez).
The banquet room actually looking like a banquet room.
Crypts that actually contain what is described in the text.
However, we have stayed authentic to the text and put the throne facing the silly direction it does!
We'll be bringing Ravenloft to you with the final TMC release of this month, in a monster sized release!
---
We'll be back next week with more Pick'n'Mix 9 maps!
Until then...
Keep Rollin' those 20's, folks!
