Status Update #80

Hey all! I have a new status report for you today.

Today's cover image is part of the Isaiah content that was cut from the Morning After Update but is going to be added back in the next release. Much like Riley, if you get Isaiah's Hookup Level high enough, he decides to tease you before you hop in your shower stall...

If you've been following along with status reports for awhile, you know Isaiah's content was rewritten a little while ago. The art for it was another missing piece, and now the scenes just need to be coded in. I'll probably do that during the week between the first and second early access releases here on Patreon. I'm still focused on completing Trevor's Grind'm scenario first.

Speaking of early access—I'm feeling really, really close to being able to confidently give a timeframe for it. I won't give that timeframe until I am, in fact, confident that I'll meet a specific date. But based on what I've finished and what remains, I am definitely thinking it'll come out much sooner than later.

The checklist for the next release is below, but first I have some more stuff to show from pre-production for the story update that will follow.

Getting to Know You Update, Part 1

Following the Grind'm update will be the first of the six Getting to Know You story updates that comprise the remainder of Week 1. (If you haven't seen or want to revisit the breakdown of those updates, check out Status Update #71.)

In order, there are four primary segments that'll be in Part 1:

The "playtime" portion will also include a lot of follow-up with various characters, in particular Marco. I shared some flowcharts and details on that in Status Update #79. Matt's hangout can also include Leo, which was discussed in Status Update #78.

What I haven't shared yet is much about Evan's hangout except for noting I've already written scenes for it. I now have the hangout fully charted out; as always, this image is purposefully too small to read to avoid spoilers:

In this screenshot, the left column represents the full flow of the majority of this sequence. The middle column is a breakdown of certain branching conversations that can happen during it. The last mini-column is about what happens after the hangout, which honestly might be my favorite part of the entire update. It's not sexual at all, just what I think will be a funny and totally unexpected story beat.

But there is absolutely sexual content in this section. A lot of it, in fact. Somehow, Evan of all people became the first character to go... well, I'll just say in depth. 😏

Unlike the Matt and Marco stuff I talked about in prior status reports, Evan doesn't have a ton of different topics to talk about. His challenge is actually breaking down how his Hookup Level will gate scenes, as well as figuring out choices I can give within this sequence to reach those levels. I don't necessarily want to require you to have fully played through his earlier content to get to some fun stuff, but I do want players to be rewarded with special content if they did devote their time to Evan.

(If you're not familiar with the Hookup Level system, it's a behind-the-scenes calculation determining what all you can do with each guy sexually. You can find the details in Status Update #61.)

I was actually getting a flurry of ideas the other night about the activities you will be able to engage in at Evan's place, to the point where I was super tempted to start making art for it. But I've still got my strict project manager hat on, so I resisted and instead continued focusing on the actual next release.

The Trevor Grind'm Update

Which is the next Grind'm scenario! This one has taken so long in part due to making big adjustments to meet content guidelines on various platforms. That included coding in toggles for that and, most recently, revising art.

And there is kind of a ridiculous amount of art in this update—over 200 CGs just for the scenario itself. I'm probably not gonna do that many for future Grind'm scenarios. There are whole visual novels that have less CGs than that.

But as I said above, I feel like I'm nearing a completion date for this. This is a breakdown of what I've done for this update and what remains. Anything that's been changed or added since the last Status Update post is noted with an asterisk.

I've been focusing primarily on the game itself for awhile, so Patreon benefits like galleries haven't been as common as they were in the past. While I know many of you don't mind since you want game updates quicker, I do want to make sure the annual Pride gallery gets made! I have a fun concept and already have one image mostly created. As long as it doesn't delay the next release, I want to finish the gallery this month, so look forward to that in the coming weeks!

Lastly, just for fun, I wanted to share a few non-game renders I made. I shared some images of a D&D character I created for a new campaign in Status Update #70. Recently, when I was listening to other players roleplay, I noodled around in Daz and created some renders of my very first D&D character, who I've been playing for nearly 5 years now.

Joining my D&D group was part of what kickstarted my creativity after years of stagnation, which directly led to creating this game, so he's pretty meaningful!
