The Walking Dead (Season 4 - Episode 9)

Hey Rangers! Get ready for another thrilling episode of The Walking Dead! We can't wait to share our reactions with you—hope you enjoy the ride!

The Walking Dead (Season 4 - Episode 9)

Comments

Well written, never got why people despise Carl so much, he is an essential chracter and he is a kid, of course he will act like that.

Kristoffer Smedegaard

Carl is a teenager they are all know it all's 🤣 plus he's dealing with the Death of his sister. He thinks his dad is going to die too so he's trying to act like he doesn't care so he doesn't have to deal. He's trying to prove to himself he will be okay alone. That was always my read on it.

Melody Netherton

I know in the later season i had to wait almost a year for the next season.

Shanegames 07

Michone probably felt so guilty for not finding the governor and taking care of it. That’s why she resorted back to being alone after the fall of the prison. But I’m glad she chose to find Rick and Carl instead. I think Carl was also more or less mad at himself. He told his dad to not be a leader anymore and his dad listened. So bc of that it made the group weaker in a sense bc Rick was calling all the shots before. If it was Rick calling all the shots, the governor would’ve been found and dead. Instead he played farmer Rick and let others make decisions. So Rick became a bit passive. I personally think it helped Rick to get help from others and not carry all the responsibility. But again Rick was becoming a lot like Shane before he stepped back a bit. Also they just lost everything they worked and fought so hard to find and keep. So it’s s huge loss. The first time this happened at the farm, everyone met up afterwards but everyone is scattered and lost. I can’t imagine the helplessness and guilt everyone is feeling especially Carl, Michone, and Rick.

well dam oh dam i said i was gonna wait till the end of this season but its my birthday today. i had to renew and enjoy these next 4 episodes then ill take a break and wait again but yall see ? absoluely broke the group . noone won , and rest in peace herschel man .

NorthhSZN

The characters and the acting in the show are just top notch

Dave Canon

Carl acted how he did in this episode for a few reasons. Firstly, he's an angsty pre-teen (it's hard to forget, he's growing up with a very abnormal childhood in this world). And at this point it's been less than a year since he's lost his mom. Now, they were so happy at the prison, and Rick really had pulled back and tried to avoid the ugliness of the world (keeping Carl back too). This is what he needed to do after everything that happened with Lori and Woodbury. But for several months, they'd been happy and were building a life with what was their modern-day family. That was ripped away when the Gov showed up (not as much for needing safe harbor for his new ppl, but for his hellbent revenge). Carl just lost his home, at this point they do think everyone else is dead or so scattered that they'll never see them again, and biggest thing is they think Judith is dead. Carl's processing his grief by being angry and he's pointing all of it onto his dad right now. Carl still thinks that Rick should've just shot the Gov before he'd killed Hershel, but he's too young to understand why Rick didn't go that route. Rick KNEW that the Gov wasn't going to back down, or cooperate. Rick was trying to reach the ppl WITH the Governor, to try to turn the tides. Which, was probably the right move but when Gov killed Hershel there was no going back. Also, Carl has just had to step up, and being Rick's child, he eagerly attempts to learn to walk in his father's footsteps, as the role of Leader will likely be HIS role someday. This episode is great, it shows the myriad of complex feelings that a kid living this way would go through on a regular basis. And how horrible that would be. The prison for a while, was the closest thing to a safe, "normal", happy home any of them had had in so long. It would crush anyone (esp when you think everyone else you love is dead at the hands of a revenge-minded madman)

ChrisIRL

Dude that’s all I could think about during the scene 😂😂😭😭

Aaliyah

we had to wait a couple of months for the mid season premieres. every season premiere was in october and every mid season premiere was in february from what i remember. man i miss walking dead sundays tuning in to find out what’s happens 😩

Kayla Pagan

Post more the walking dead please

Evija Strode

oh i am HYPED for next ep

T

Everyone forgets Carl is a little kid, a little kid who’s literally lost everything up to this point

puddle possum

"I used to talk to my dead boyfriend. It happens." -Michonne to Rick "Clear"... In the comics, this was something Rick & Michonne bonded over. Rick used to carry around that telephone for a while after the prison fell(Lori & Judith died in the comics during the battle at the prison. Lily shot Lori, who was holding Judith and running to the bus and, killed them both. Out of guilt, realizing what she did, and how they all got used, Lily shot the Governor like in the show). When Michonne joined the prison crew in the comics, they started showing her what it seemed like she was secretly talking to someone out of view from the audience for a while, and even as few characters kinda catching her asking who she was talking to and it kinda made her seem suspicious, only to eventually do a reveal that Michonne was actually talking to someone who wasn't actually there this whole time. Michone in the comics is a badass who has like SUPER trauma, even worse than the show... Here in the show you see her talking to Mike like she does in the comics. In the beginning of the episode. She sees the foot tracks on the trail, and deliberately didn't follow it. She couldn't deal. Right when she FINALLY gave up looking for the Governor and finally make the prison her home, sure enough, he shows up, kidnaps her & herself, is sitting beside him as her #1 opp she's been searching for used HER sword and chopped poor Hershel neck with it. And then? She's the one who find his walker head and put it down(I think that sort oof trauma fet overlooked by viewers). Michonne ignoring those tracks initially showed that she was done. Caring about people. Getting attached was always going to bring forth suffering and pain eventually. She didn't want that. She wanted to just suffer alone. It was easier. But she couldn't go back to who she was anymore. She wasn't one of the dead. She knew there was a chance some of her people was still alive. She still cared about them and knew there was a chance. So, went back and took the chance of finding her people becauee that's exactly who they were to her. Her people... In her dream, Mike is so defeated about the apocalyptic world they were now in. A world that their son had to suffer through as he saw that this kind of life wasn't a real life at all. Kinda like Lori in season 2woth CRl and eventually with her future baby with her unexpected pregnancy. He seem to have needed an answer to keep going and asked Michonne, "What's the answer here?" And their friend shots back because Mike doesn't really ask it out loud. Mike doesn't seem to see a reason to keep going on just for them and their child to suffer. When she's talking to Mike here, she's tell him, "You were wrong, because I'm still here. And you could be too. And he could be-. I know the answer. I know why." She knows the answer to Mike's unspoken question. It's to keep fighting. She almost slipped back into her old ways of isolation, but she couldn't. That wasn't fighting. Sure it was survival, which is what she had been doing, but now it was her fighting to live and walkikg amongst the dead wasn't living. Going back to find her new family and being with them was fighting. She kept going. And it paid off in the best way she could have probably hoped for in that moment. She found them(Rick & Carl). She found the answer. That, "It's for you" applied to Michonne just as much as it did Carl, and we've seen them teo develope that bond and them finding each other when they needed it most. When they needed hope. At least this has always been my interpretation of that scene, and the whole episode regarding Michonne... Michonne's such a cryptic character(it's her second season and she's a prominent character, and it can still be hard to read as theirs still a whole mystery to her) that it's sometimes hard to know what's she's thinking, but when she speak, her words ALWAYS seem to be important, significant. Like she doesn't just talk to be talking like a lot of people do sometimes. Like she talks when she has something to say and is careful with what she says, at least of what we've seen of her so far...

Ash Lee Can

Umm, how many people, let alone a CHILD/TEEN have lost everything and almost everyone because of a mad man that they KNEW was out there and was most likely very willing to come back for them to kill them all, and almsot everyone, including their father let it. Michonne wad the only one ready to not give up trying and evem she got talked out of it in the end.. Carl didn't necessarily agree with Rick's decision to remove himself and go domestic instead of staying ready for their (potential) enemy, but he looked up to his father and respected him, so he went alone with it and followed his father's lead. Only for it to all literally blow up in their faces because sure enough, his father failed to kill the Governor. This all goes back to that conversation Carl gave Rick at the end of season 3, and that was just when they lost his mom, TDog, Oscar, Axel & Merle. Now, he's lost everyone. including his baby sister. He just watched Hershel get decapitated, when Carl had already wanted to the Governor when they were standing off(in fact Carl was the one who shot the Governor when the battle licked off, not Rick) and he got stopped because RICK was supposed to handle it. Once again, he trusted his father and more people died. Except now EVERYONE'S died from his prospective, again, including his baby sister. And on top of that, Rick is sitting here trying to "little boy" Carl after what just happened, as if that "boy" wasn't LITERALLY in a whole gun battle with the rest of them just two days prior. As if Carl doesn't know what he's doing. As if Rick forgot who CARL was and what he can do. This is the same kid who saved Tyrese & Sasha's old group in the prison by himself. He just helped Rick take down a whole herd of walkers woth just the two of them. Rick, who's beat all to hell and can barely walk, doesn't think Carl can't Just because Rick was trying to forget what they were capable of doesn't mean Carl did. But Rick, who's beat all to hell is trying to stop Carl from helping, when Carl is probably the more efficient one on the moment? That's probably feels like a slap in the face and patronizing as hell to Carl. ESPECIALLY considering Rick was the one who just failed, at least in his eyes. He's pissed. Far more pissed than probably any of y'all even comprehend apparently. By the way, there are plenty of kids who have said this type over being simply being put on punishment. Most of y'all never even lived in a war zone let alone anything close to an apocolypse to know what he's feeling. Most of y'all lack the ability to actually be able look through the prospective of another, just the prospectives that either y'all relate or the ones you want to see, and it shows...

Ash Lee Can

this second half of season 4 and season 5 is so amazing

Emily Rose

Nah I would've woken up and slapped the shit out of him for saying that shit, and his bad acting 🤣

Morgo

La Jiggy jar jar do- DUR DUR DUR DEE DUR

Alex Fox

How mAny people do u know who has said that its better off that their mom/ dad were to be dead? Thats extreme compared to saying profanities, its something u can't erase.

wonder777warrior

?

Dd2x

Nah bruh my dog just had somethin in his eyes

Z

Alicia Ortega

Such a good episode! Loving all the reactions. Makes me feel like I’m watching the show for the first time (and not the 6th 😂)

Austin Dufraimont

That’s why I said depends when the show takes it lol

Simon

I take that back bro just needs a hug 😭😭

Jazzlyne

All of these people talking about Carl like they've never was their room by themselves cussing their parents out when they pissed then all the way off before...

Ash Lee Can

Yup. That's exactly what it is. That boy has done and had to go through so much, including having to kill his own mother. Just two days before he was literally in a major war battle that pretty much cost him everything, lost almost everyone, including his baby sister, and now he was believing his father, the last person he has left, turned into a walker and was about to kill him. The straw that broke the camel's back is right. That boy's tired and I can't blame him...

Ash Lee Can

fk it happy birthday!!

Jazzlyne

I love Carl but he would’ve gotten a good ass woopin from me LMAOO talking crazy like that

Jazzlyne

Walking Dead was later though because the seasons started in October(Spooky Season) instead of September like most fall shows and came back in February instead of January...

Ash Lee Can

I don't know where everyone's getting this half a year with the mid-seasons lol...

Ash Lee Can

when this aired on tv it was every sunday we got to see a new episode

Chase

I think a lot of people misunderstands Carl's perspective and his feelings regarding not only Rick, but the whole situation...

Ash Lee Can

More like 2-3 months.

Ash Lee Can

Yeah they said that lol

Cody Jado

Definitely not half a year. It's only like 2 months in between mid seasons

Ash Lee Can

It would be amazing if they did a reaction to the three bad lip reading videos

Vic

But I would wait till the end of season 4 just to avoid spoilers!

Anna

Now that you’ve seen this episode I really need to recommend you guys to watch Bad Lip Reading Carl Poppa on YouTube it’s one of my most favorite videos! And you should react to it as well

Anna

I edited my post because of you Michael. Thanks for that, i for some reason thought that it only contained scenes during that episode and before. So yeah, we shall wait for them to finish Season 4 before diving in lol.

Alex Fox

Yea fr the arrow and thr flash are the best ones the others are borring

Behran kosal

WAIT! I just re-watched it again for the 50th time (LOL) and there are actually scenes from future episodes in it. Therefore, I suggest they finish season 4 before they watch the masterpiece that is Carl Poppa. “Dur Dur Dur Dee Dur!”

Michael

2 episodes per day of the walking dead would be good, otherwise 1 episode per day is too long

Mensur Zeric

too late! Happy birthday!!!!!!

Martin

ill put this comment on every vid until you see this, but inbetween almost every episode is a time jump even during episodes like this one was around 2-3 days. and the time jumps inbetween and during eps can be from minutes to days to even months

Reseigh

Carl POPPA

Reseigh

???

iameNeRG (Rodney Gant)

I didn't expect to see you here lmao.

ILikeWater

Yeah but like, he's still a kid in a zombie apocalypse that thinks his sister is dead, and just lost his home. And some of the thinks he said was kinda right if you think about it.

ILikeWater

BLR has done a lot of funny work to popular shows/movies and sporting events. Its definitely worth to watch their work. Explains the views, in my opinion lol.

Alex Fox

it has 34 million views?

Christopher

Anyone noticed Vinc’s happy tears at end of the episode?

Abubakar Ahmed

I do not know how it happened and im honestly confused but i meant to put "such a great episode" i do wanna apologize about that. That is kind of embarrassing lmao. But i do appreciate that you went to tell me happy birthday anyways you 2 are awesome!

Trevor Wright

Carl will always have a place in his heart for shayne. Shayne taught him a lot post apocalypse.

Tjbosslyfe

Rick sleeping most of the episode almost getting a MVP is funny 😁. Myshonne an Carl tied for mvp this episode. Carl has more growing up to do . But he getting put in position to be a top person in group . So he has to make an trust his decision. But Rick around so slow down for now Carl.

Tjbosslyfe

The Hershel zombie head was a savage move . I feel was decapitated while alive so he wouldn't have been a zombie but I could be wrong.

Tjbosslyfe

I think it was more of the straw that broke the camels back. Had he not put down Lori he probably could have put down Rick. I think the idea of having to do it to both his parents was too much for him and in that moment he’d rather have let the walker bite him

Z

yesss i didnt know many people knew about it lmao

Reseigh

EDIT: Finish Season 4 before diving into this!! (Thanks Michael) After this episode, PLEASE watch Bad Lip Reading's Song Carl Papa that was made for this episode. Its hilarious and strange at the same time how the song lines up with what Carl sings! Reaction or not.

Alex Fox

And I love Carl but he is annoying as hell in this episode lol . He blames Rick for everyone dying yet he’s the one who asked him to step down as leader.

JonSnow21

Carl a kid

JSM -Tac

Fun Fact: On the Talking Dead after this episode they said Michonne killed those walkers because she felt like she was becoming a walker herself (symbolized by the other walker with dreads like her) and she refused to let that be the case.

Jay

This show reigned number 1 on national cable TV from season 1 to season 7. Only thing coming close was game of thrones. Dead Won many awards and raised the bar for future tv series. I'm pretty sure season 6 ep 16 is the most watched episode of a television series EVER. and youl find out why when u get there lol

Austin c pates

Usually after the mid season finale we only had to wait like 2 months for episode 9 and usually about 5 or 6 months for a new season

Michael Saylor

Close enough lol, late fall early spring. Its been awhile. I think i stopped watching after season 8, couldnt remember

Cody Jado

No, the season begins in Oktober ends in early December and resumes early February until late March. So between each half was 2 months of waiting.

Yoda I am

I love this episode

Antwaun Brent

Hell yeah! I’d want them to follow the arrow and flash storyline so Arrow first. Idc about the other arrowverse shows.

Excalibur

That poetry hasn’t happen yet….

KJ

Feels like I’m watching this show for the first time again 😁 great reactions guys ❤️

Nathan Skye

man i just flow

Bean

Happy birthday! 🎈🎂🎉🎁🎊

Vince Shoshana

such a great birthday.

Trevor Wright

half a year between each half a season so 8 episodes in the fall, second half would come out in spring typically

Cody Jado

Fr

Behran kosal

Carl also told his dad he should step down from being leader. He can’t have it both ways.

JonSnow21

I borderline would’ve given a walker MVP over Carl in this episode lol , he pisses me off so much everytime. Rick takes it for me and Michonne is an honourable mention.

JonSnow21

Lmao bro I’m dying😂

brayloom

i’m so glad you guys love it! i didn’t wanna watch it at first and now it’s my favorite show ever

Katelyn

Carl just lost his baby sister...the only thing he had left of his mother.

Johnny_Raincloud

Carl is a normal kid in my opinion, people give him way too much flack. He's becoming a teenager and has had to make really tough decisions and deal with a lot of chaos and insanity in just a few years. He undoubtedly has PTSD. Then he has his home ripped from him by the Governor and the easiest person for him to blame is Rick. He already expressed that Rick should've killed him at the meeting and blamed him for not killing Andrew before he got Lori killed. Most kids lash out at their parents at this age and Carl has even more of a reason to. He's growing into himself and his own morality. And at the end of the day, he's just sad and grieving everything and everyone all at once.

Zero

I like the aspect of Carl saying all the things he wanted to say to Rick while he couldn't hear him.

Courtney

I felt for Carl, he is still I believe 14/15 year when he is crying because he thinks Rick is a walker. This definitely was a growing up experience for Carl.

Courtney

The pudding makes me miss the Talking Dead. Thinking about how they had all this memorbila they had and actors talking about the show.

Courtney

The wait between parts was like 3 almost 4 months. Usually didn't come back on til February. This is the first season I started watching the show live.

Courtney

Today is Danai who played Michonne's birthday 🎉

Courtney

carl waited til rick was unable to physically stop him to say all that shit 🤣 rick looking like a sick puppy meanwhile carl bringing up his dead wife and bestfriend, so savage

charlie

this episode was beautiful! cant wait for more rick-michonne-carl

charlie

Damn. Yall brought out the funeral look today in that all black, huh? This series gonna really take off soon. Just keep watchin

Jah (jakwiq) (Jah Quick)

Speaking of the mid season break...I once heard Andrew Lincoln say, "If it wouldn't literally KILL us...we would all love to be making the show non-stop."

PianoDean

You mean actor

Roleplex

real

Carson

Der der der de der

Roleplex

my mvp is rick, for not backhanding the living hell outta carl. that had to take a lot of patience cause i could never

Tyler Thornton

mid season finale had us waiting like 3 months

Carson

That would be dope

Latyah Short

Names will change in the intro song, so it’s fun to spot that when it does happen

Alvin Everett

GOAT show

Drip Drop

la jiggy jar jar doo

Matt Impastato

Crazy thing is Chandler Riggs actually ate all 112oz of that pudding lmao. He said he didn’t want to look at pudding for a long time after. 🤣

Matthew Tallent

Lajiggy jar jar doo.

Matthew Tallent

CARL POPPA

LITOMARZ

it’s so meaningful in the fact that carl couldn’t shoot rick. Carl could put down his mom but couldn’t put down his dad, just shows their bond

Annisa

Watch the flash show pls

Behran kosal

Not only did we get this great episode, this was also the orgin of the amazing Carl Poppa song. Y'all need to listen to it, it's so good! 😂

Savannah Smith

Ugh I miss watching every Sunday and having the talking dead talk show play after every episode

0h3rica

Usually the mid season break started around the end of November/beginning of December. They went all the way through February/start of March. So about 3 months. They did that to give the cast time off for the holidays to be at home with their families.

Matthew Tallent

Great reaction ❤️ its always sad to see michonne fall back into her solo ways of survival and she starts to feel not alive and just feel like a walker so she breaks and handles them all and goes back to track people down, she fought and chose this episode to live.. to have hope.. and the look on her face tells it all when she finds them.. its so beautiful!

Robb7e

First MVP for Carl Poppa

Kwisatz Haderach

i think why they never put walkers around the prison because i think it would still be the same and it would keep walkers gathered around and eventually become a herd

Valor

The mid season breaks were torture sometimes watching live, same with between seasons. I genuinely think this show works so much better as a binge or a "watch several episodes in a week" format.

Bunnarchist

Thanks

iameNeRG (Rodney Gant)

Carl lost his baby sister, friends, and home. Of course he’s upset.

J

This might be your best reaction up to this point. Your reaction at Michonne finding Rick and Carl was beautiful to see.

Enric Torres

Cool ass story tbh

xxelerate

Pudding Carl, one of the most iconic moments of this show

Bunnarchist

Carl was justified in being angry at Rick. He warned Rick in season 3 that they should keep going after the Governor and instead Rick chose to pretend that they were all safe and it blew up in their face.

Kwisatz Haderach

I love Carl in this episode. It’s one of my favs tbh. It’s so human. It’s so real. So many kids have a wake up moment of realizing their parents are fallible. And then the full circle realization of that’s just humanity and you still love and need them. It’s such good writing imo. He’s a v realistic shitty tween haha.

Broody Gaming

Hey Vince, we saw that tinny tears at the end hahaha 💜😂

Bruna

Introduction of puddin Carl. We all need some michonne in our life 😂

Mark

Hershalls character passed away in 2018. Sad times

999Zack

Amazing reaction y’all 🔥 this episode is so great i love how happy michonne was to see them and how happy Rick was to see her

Simon

One thing that always bothers me when people talking about these episodes, is how they respond to Carl's attitude. For one, he is like a 13/14-year-old kid, teenagers in the regular world have attitudes just because they are teenagers. Two, he is growing up in a Zombie apocalypse, and three, he thinks he just lost all of his friends and family, his home, and his life essentially. He is grieving and he is angry and sad. He responds in the wrong way, but he is just a kid. He doesn't know how to handle all of those feelings and yeah, he takes it out on Rick, but I think it's pretty understandable.

Sophia Hanson

During the time that I was 13 or maybe 14, I was over at my mom's friends house hanging with her kids and my best friend while the adults were off playing dominoes somewhere. After us horse playing and badgering each other around the house, we all decided to just sit down from exhaustion and enjoy whatever was on TV. For some odd reason though, instead of changing the TV to Nickelodeon or maybe Disney Channel, or even Cartoon Network, we decided to settle on a random Channel. On this channel there was show that was playing with a teenage boy. This teenage boy was sporting a flannel shirt with a sheriff hat and a pistol. The scenes I remember watching consisted of this boy Scavenging through suburban households, while running away/ killing zombies, eating an impossible giant can of chocolate pudding, and yelling at a dead man on the couch. I remember that dead man finally getting up from the couch and going to the door saying that it was for that boy. And the episode ended. I always wondered what the show was, and I didn't find out until years later. The Walking Dead

iameNeRG (Rodney Gant)

The mid season finale for season 4 was in December, then it came back in February for episode 9. But sometimes we had to wait longer than that, sometimes 6 months.

imperial

Not always. It was only a 2 month gap in season 4.

imperial

It’s not that carls trying to prove he’s grown, it’s that he’s mad at Rick and thinks he failed.

Simon

Yup episode 8 was the mid season finale. Then a 2 month break until episode 9.

imperial

And now we've made it, the end of the governor, and when this show really starts to pick up

iameNeRG (Rodney Gant)

Wasn't 8 the mid-season finale, or am I miss remembering if it was about 6 months if not 1 week the show aired on AMC every Sunday someone let me know cause I'm drawing a blank.

Aramon

It was about 6 months in between episode 8 and 9 for every season. It was a pain watching it live.

Nick Greco

INSTANT CLICK IM SO HYPED TO SEE YOU GUYS REACT TO THE NEXT FEW EPISODES

ella

love this season

JWJ

So depends on when they take the mid season break, sometimes shows we’ll do it right after thanksgiving and won’t come back till a few weeks after new year n stuff like like that. One thing I hate about shows 😂

Simon

One of my favorite episodes

J

Yesss!
