Glad yall ended up enjoying it. There's a couple of GREAT episodes compared to this one and a couple of eh ones. But yeah you'll be rewarded later for having seen this.

2023-10-04 04:16:51 +0000 UTCHonestly, I think "What If?" is a good way to introduce the concept of alternate realities and variants of heroes/villains. The concept does come into play eventually, so I think it's good that ya'll are watching it.

As you said, prior to He Who Remains dying, the TVA was constantly pruning timelines, leaving only the 'Sacred Timeline'. Once the events of Loki happen, the alternate timelines are now free to exist, which is why "What If...." and other upcoming stories can happen. So, yeah, while the multiverse always existed (albeit, with only a single 'verse') and Sylvie didn't create it, what she did do was allow it to grow....

2023-10-03 04:59:25 +0000 UTCThe first couple of episodes are lighthearted compared to some of the later episodes, which are much darker in tone much like the comics were. What If...? was one of my favorite titles when I collected comics as a kid. And some of the What If...? story ideas were later used in the main comic titles and the MCU (for example: What If the Hulk had the brain of Bruce Banner?) I really liked this series overall (the Dr. Strange episode in particular is fantastic).

2023-10-02 23:36:14 +0000 UTCWhat’s cool about this series is the concept of how certain things could’ve panned out if they happened in a different manner. The animation is pretty wild as well. Drawing up even one episode is a challenge, but the possibilities are near endless especially if we compare it to live-action. Sure it’s possible to do it that way as well, but it has its’ own challenges and expenses to cover. At least the art team can go nuts and the live-action team have more room and time to work on their own thing.

While there is a difference between timelines and multiverse -as time-lines are variations of a single universe- in marvel, they have taken to considering these different universes. With this being called the multiverse saga (Thanos was the infinity saga) its safe to assume what if will become a big thing for the future. And as Val said to walker, "things are gonna get wierd"

The multiverse already existed and was organized into the “Sacred Timeline”. All Sylvie killing him did was make it so branches in the timeline could form freely without being pruned.

The stories and visuals in some of these episodes are incredible, better than most of the movies. It makes me want more animated MCU projects.
