Props to your grandfather. See this is how you do a sequel to a classic. You pay homage to the first movie but you make it more than just about nostalgia, you make it a story where you identify with everyone. Oh and there is hardly any CGI in this movie, Tom wanted this to be as real an experience as it could be in those planes and you can tell. Now it’s time for y’all to catch up with all the Mission: Impossible movies. Y’all will have a blast.

Fact about this movie, Iceman's role was a real life situation, the actor had throat cancer in real life that affected his ability to speak. the other producers were against having him cameo but those two fought to have him in that one scene because they believed it would really impact the fans on emotional level that would really bring this movie together. Even those few words he spoke had to hurt even a little I imagine but that goes to show how close these two were, not just in the movie but in real life too

I knew you guys would love this movie. Everyone had high hopes but I don’t think anyone expected it to be THIS GOOD. It’s rare to make a sequel to a classic movie and have it surpass the original in every way possible, while still honoring and capturing the essence of the first film. And I’m glad they made Maverick shine and really show off his skills. He was an absolute legend in this movie!

@MotoDork completely agree. I’m just a movie fanatic, so I don’t care what actors do in their personal time. He’s one of the most impactful actors of our time. And he also single-handedly saved Hollywood and the entire theater industry from imploding. So for anyone who loves going to the movies, you can thank Tom Cruise for that.

Mach 10 is 7,672 mph. Most of the flying scenes are real. The scene where the roof was moved on the guard post actually happened.

Superb reaction guys. Theres a reason this movie did so well in cinemas. Its not just the nostalgia from the first film but the fact that this one was extremely well done. Im sure you both know by now but it was a different love interest in this film. The woman from the first Top Gun was Charlie. The love interest in this one is Penny. Penny was very briefly mentioned but not shown in the beginning of the first Top Gun so its easy to not remember her. Great reaction.

I always thought this was a perfect sequel to a movie. It continues the story perfectly with an already established character, it balances the drama from the last movie, the mission, the students, and a bit of relationship. It was the same plane combat but with modern cinematography making it amazing. Has those elements of New gen fighters and unmanned fighters pushing the story to the future, its just well thought out and executed.

The 'girl' in this movie.. is Penny.. it's a different woman/character from the original top gun movie. However, she was mentioned in the beginning of the original. Penny Benjamin, the admirals daughter. So it is Mav's old flame.

Incredible movie. I saw this in Imax and was blown away. The val Kilmer scenes were so sad because in real life he is battling throat cancer. And that wasn't the same girl as the first. This girl is Penny Benjamin. They briefly mentioned how maverick had a fling with the old admirals daughter in the first top gun.

Mach 10 means 10 times the speed of sound. Mach 1 is 767 mph...so do the math on that!! And that plane vince said was beautiful is Tom's P51 Mustang that he owns and Flys all the time. He is an avid pilot and has mad respect for fighter pilots
