Home improvement was my showww. N he was on them teen mags they don’t make those anymore 😂 just instagram

Josh G

You should finish the movie series so good

C. J. Ramirez

Aladdin was my go to animated movie too! Still is when I'm not feeling good. lol

Lady Warhammer

Cassie, there are many "go-to" animated movies for me. Most of them Disney movies. Pinocchio, The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, Lady & the Tramp. I also enjoy the later movies like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin and the Pixar films, Up, Wall-E and the Toy Story series. My all-time favorite still remains to be Fantasia. I do hope that you will one day react to it.

Mark Vaderr

Solid reason to rewatch this classic. One of the first movies I remember seeing in theaters. Also, I wanna go golfing with Carly.

SeanATX

I loved your guy's reaction especially Carly's Ahhh James Earl Jones his reading of The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe was amazing. But having to a Michigan football game in the last year this is what I remember him for https://youtu.be/01u-vum_qVY?feature=shared

Zachary K. (Swiftie)

Been quite a while since I've watched this. I worked at the cinema when it came out in '94, and then my kids (in the early '00s) watched it so often they wore out the VHS and I bought the DVD. What a pleasure to come back 20+ years later and watch with Carly. Aye carumba! Amazing what Disney could pack into a 90 minute *animated* movie, emotionally and story-wise! . 💛you both and thank you for making my Saturday night. . Cassie - the sun-kissed look is great - you're radiant!

Mike H

Thanks for watching this. I haven’t seen it years and I forgot how much I truly love it. The voice acting is great, I especially love Jeremy Irons as Scar and Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean!!!!) as Zazu. And I can’t help but love that the movie is essentially spoon feeding kids a g rated version of Hamlet!

Tinkerbell

Did your kids like the pre-'renaissance' ones?

Chris Thom

THE IRON GIANT

Odd Thomas

someone probably already said so, but the "Jungle Song" is "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and it was recorded originally in 1939, so it's been around a very long time. It was originally written and recorded in Zulu in Africa, and in 1961 was adapted into English and recorded by The Tokens into the version most popular today.

Walter

Disney is a great company. In the late 1960's/early 1970's, we as kids would watch The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights. My Mom would make popcorn. My kids loved The Lion King. Hard not to like The Lion King. I took my kids to see The Lion King musical. Stunning.

Clay F

the countdown goes from 15 secs to start

Brian Smith

Totally worth the membership. This is like watching a movie with friends - a great way to spend a Friday night! I will say this is peak Disney in my opinion. Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin were all awesome in theatres but the Lion King was just another level of epic. Elton John had good songs with Tim Rice but Hans Zimmer really knocked it out of the park on this one. I listen to the score as much as the songs!

Matthew Gibson

And the "You're so weird" "You have no idea," exchange between Simba and Scar is a reference to the movie REVERSAL OF FORTUNE starring Jeremy Irons.

Stick Figure Studios

From now on, whenever I hear the opening song, I'm going to think, "ay caramba!" (or, maybe "Pennsylvania").

Stephen Dias

Here's how my brain works: Hmm. I think I only have this one on VHS. Let me check. [Rummages through DVD's.] Yeah, no DVD. I guess it's time to upgrade. Minutes later: oh, wait. I have Disney+. Duh.

Stephen Dias

Carly has seen 101 Dalmations 700 times, or more specifically, she has seen 70,700 Dalmations.

Steve DeVries

I agree it was really fun to see Carly's reaction. It was also really fun/cute seeing you frequently check over to see her reaction. I'm definitely open to watching the occasional movie that is new to Carly only. It was really great that you mentioned the music because its phenomenal. Hans Zimmer knocked it out of the park with his score and Elton John absolutely went harder than he had to. Music from The Lion King often finds itself on my playlists. The remember who you are speech by Mufasa really hit me in the gut on this watch- lots of good lessons in this one. So you decided to show your kids The Hunchback eh? The soundtrack isn't as good as this one but its got some bangers (like Hellfire). I'm glad you liked it enough to rewatch it. Whats my Disney whole history of my life? Hers's an abridged version- I grew up watching them on repeat especially The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and Hercules. I hated it when they switched animation styles and I quit watching the movies around then. Until this day despite my loathing for the company I still love and listen to the music. Even some of the "newer" movies like Moana and Frozen have some great songs I still put on in the car.

My_Cousin_Mose

Me too! I still remember I was mesmerized by the entire opening, seeing the sun pop up on the big screen was pretty amazing and I still remember everyone jumping at that huge paw stomp from Scar, just like the sun popping up it was huge and covered the entire screen.

Annie519

I love that you mentioned the video game. It was great but i thought it was strangely hard lol. I remember the monkeys would throw you from tree to tree and I could never find the pattern, good times!

Kevin Kuma

Enjoyed all the Cassie side eye and rye smiles when Carly was guessing what was about to happen. I had aged out of these a bit when they came out, and I didn't really see too many because we didn't go to the cinema that often when I was a kid, and this was also just prior to Disney un-vaulting and putting the animated features on VHS. I knew the music and stories from "The Jungle Book" and "Robin Hood" because my siblings and I had vinyl EPs that accompanied a story that was shortened version of the movie (including pictures). My mum would later collect the VHS copies of the movies anticpating grandchildren, but not the format changes. So I watched "Robin Hood" a bunch and "Aladdin" because Robin WIlliams was a genius. I saw the first "Toy Story" in cinemas as teenager, and I still love that franchise, although it was when the switch was being made from traditional animation to the full CGI. Good cast in this movie and others have mentioned plenty in previous comments. * James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair, playing parent again to an African prince ("Coming to America" I'm looking at you). * Jeremy Irons being a great villain, as he does well elsewhere ("Die Hard With A Vengence"), and as others say it is based on "Hamlet" so having a British acting powerhouse is par for the course really. * Matthew Broderick ("Ferris Bueller") as the grown-up "Simba" playing along Nathan Lane as "Timon", they would go to star as the leads together in the Broadway production of Mel Brooks' "The Producers".

Mojo One Thousand

I liked "A bugs Life" and its hilariously creative microscopic look at the bug world. Big Ups to whoever hired Dave Foley as the lead. He fit perfectly within that cast of 90's superstars.

Kevin Kuma

The leopards also a had a "spot of trouble" from that report.

Mojo One Thousand

I'll never forget the scene where Pumba is following the bug and he jumps behind the tree, because my 3 year old daughter (she's 26 now) giggled at the TV for the first time ever. ❤️😓😁

Stevan Carter

I had a lion King theater 10th birthday party in December 94 must have been a rerelease. But learned something new tonight in Zazus report , cheetahs never prosper. Also the song from lion king 2 “He Lives in You” is so good

Sean Stuart

That was fun! Great movie! Fun reaction, ladies!

Philip Alan

That doesn't sound like Matthew Broderick, and then I realized halfway in. I was an angsty teenager when this came out so I just now watched it for the first time with you. I was at the very tail end of Gen-X, and I probably watched that fox cartoon Robin Hood, An American Tail, and The Rescuers like 800 times.

Brian's Dog

The line “Are you talking to me, they call me Mr.pig” is referencing Taxi Driver and In The Heat Of The Night”. INSANE.

Bek Yuldashev

Not for nothing, but now that the movie is fresh in your heads, Lion King 1.5 is a hilarious little movie about the events of the The Lion King from Timone and Pumbaa's perspective (from even before they are introduced in the original!)

Barbie Pootsky

watching this as an adult makes you wanna watch Hamlet in some way which its based upon

Ulf Jerlström

The Scar and Mufasa voices especially sound really Shakespearean.

Chris Thom

Daniel Turbyfill

The song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" predates The Lion King by several decades. The original Zulu language version ("Mbube") was written in 1939 by South African Solomon Linda; the English adaptation was recorded in 1961 by The Tokens. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lion_Sleeps_Tonight

Daniel Turbyfill

Bambi was THAT movie for me Cassie. I don’t remember it though which is a good thing, but Bambi was in theaters for a short time when I was around 5 or so and I had never seen it. This was before VCRs and my Mom told me when I was an adult, that when Bambi’s mom died, I was bawling in the aisle of the theater yelling through my tears trying to get the words out “They… killed… Bambi’s…mom!!” And then more bawling. My poor mom, lol. Hopefully everyone in the theater understood my loud outburst. Little Simba is so cute and I remember seeing this when it first came out and JTT was on the TV show Home Improvement. Along with future voice of Buzz Lightyear. The voice of Scar was actor Jeremy Irons. He also has a very distinct voice like JEJ. The only movie I can think of that he was in is The Man In The Iron Mask along with Leo and John Malkovich to name a couple. It was Leo’s first movie after Titanic.

Tara

The story is basically Hamlet. The chant at the start is in the Zulu language, as is used in much of the background music. For the opening sequence specifically, this is what's being said: Nants ingonyama bagithi baba [Here comes a lion, Father] Sithi uhm ingonyama [Oh yes, it's a lion]

SnabbKassa

That one was just pure magic. Maybe the ultimate Disney film.

Chris Thom

Wanted that game sooooo bad. Lol. And the Indiana Jones SNES one as well.

Chris Thom

This was a lot of fun. Would be cool if maybe you revisited more movies from your past that you love/have a lot of thoughts about every so often.

Chris Thom

I haven't even seen the newer version, but I already think of the character as John Oliver now. That casting was just too on the nose.

Chris Thom

Omg, I just noticed that the voice for Zazu was Mr. Bean.

3dbadboy1

One of the Greatest Sega Genesis GAMES of ALL time! Good on you Cassie for remembering 🙏❤️

imperial

“Be Prepared” is a fantastic song, sung with conviction by Jeremy Irons. It’s one of my favorites in the movie.

Dan M

Girls were soooo into JTT at the time. And the Olsen Twins as well...in a different way. Lol. Pretty much universal.

Chris Thom

Anyone else like the callsigns, “CRASH” and “COACH”???

Uncle Phoenix

Okay, I’m totally depressed now 🥺

Dan M

Whoopi Goldberg playing a Hyena just about sums her up

William

I will give Cassie the benefit of the doubt and say that she thought JTT voice was sexy when she first watched it. What was with that "Your Mom" in the intro as well. Carly seemed a bit awkward with it as well. 😄 Aren't "Your Mom" used as an insult? I think Cassie is becoming desensitised.🤣. JK Cassie. You know we still 🥰 and think that you are an 😇

Brian McGovern

My siblings and I had all the Disney films on VHS, hard to pick just one but I always enjoyed Mulan. 🎶Let's get down to business! 🎶

Nismo

What a beautiful, sad, haunting movie.

Stick Figure Studios

It also owes a lot to the Japanese story KIMBA, THE WHITE LION (controversially so).

Stick Figure Studios

Bambi's mother dies about a half hour into the film, not "within the first 5 minutes."

Stick Figure Studios

Anybody else immediately think of Camp Candy when reading that?

Mike Lemon

acuna matata

Jimmy Reyes

So this just proves how old I am. I remember seeing this in the movie theater. Now I watch it with my nieces and nephews.

Zachary K. (Swiftie)

The "Like, subscribe, your mom" killed me xD

Sindre Kristiansen

So glad to see you two react to this childhood classic! Also of all the Disney films that got direct-to-video sequels I'd say "The Lion King" got two of the better ones: "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride" and "The Lion King 1 1/2: Hakuna Matata". I'd certainly recommend giving both of those a look if you're interested.

Jake McNulty

How's things at Camp Cassie?😊

Chris Clarke

I totally enjoy your solo reactions but you two together are perfect.

Nick Thousan

The nostalgia hit hard . Cassie mentioning Aladdin was were Disney movie was mine too .. Also Cassie you gave me ptsd talking about the lion king video game that level was so hard !

Philip G.

This was a great reaction, glad Carly enjoyed it, can't beat the OG Disney movies also Aladdin was my fave as a kid. Scar's voice is familiar because it's Jeremy Irons, the villain in Die Hard 3 "Simon says"

D4RK

Yes, one hyena is Whoopi. The other one that talks is Cheech Marin, Kevin Costner's caddy from Tin Cup. Scar is Jeremy Irons, who played Simon Gruber in Die Hard w/ a Vengeance.

Brent Petty

Welcome Carly!!! Hakuna Matata

Terry Yelmene

Cassie was afraid of zebras. Raise your hand if you're not surprised.

Brent Petty

After Walt Disney’s initial success with Snow White he invited his parents to come live in Southern California to be closer to him and his brother Roy. Walt even purchased a home for his parents to live in with a built-in furnace to keep them warm during colder months. Tragically, the furnace leaked carbon monoxide and Walt’s mother died soon after moving in from this poisonous exposure. Bereft with grief and guilt, Walt Disney soon produced Bambi, a story about the loss of a beloved mother.

Steve Holton

And the song Timon & Pumba are singing, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, came out 33 years before The Lion King. https://youtu.be/ZgI4DdINQLQ?si=kjSrs99AJp8PDwrD

Zane From Canada

So... is Carly watching The Ghost and the Darkness next? hehehe But to answer the "Disney childhood" question- Sword in the Stone by a mile. I have watched that at least a hundred times. Robin Hood was a distant second. Hockety pockety wockety wack...

Mike Lemon

You were a tougher kid than me, Rose. I lost it when they whacked Bambi's mom. I did have huge respect for Thumper, however, and tried to make his thumping sound on the ice every winter. Oh, and we had a lady in our neighborhood who bore a striking resemblance to Cruella de Vil (AND she drove a red Coupe de Ville), so some reoccurring drama/trauma with 101 DALMATIANS, or as I referred to it at age 5, "101 Dogmations."

Above Average Dave

HAHAHA 🤣 I can just imagine. "HI EVERYBODY!" "Dead or alive, you're coming with me."

Zane From Canada

I saw PINOCCHIO when I was 5 and the boys turning into jackasses terrified me (probably because, right up to that point, I was totally in love with their lives). Then my parents showed me BAMBI and his mother gets whacked in the first 5 mins. Classic Disney had some people who were predicated on letting kids know this ride would not always be easy or fun. But to answer your question, THE JUNGLE BOOK. It, too, told us life was filled with snakes and tigers (literally and figuratively) but if you had friends (and learned a few lessons) you could face them. That and I SO wanted to live Mowgli's life with Baloo and Bagheera. Also, how can you not love a movie where Louis Prima is playing King Louie! I have "I Wan'na Be Like You!" on a mix on my phone at all times! Always makes me smile and want to dance!

Above Average Dave

I love that name — "Nala"! (Though, "Lucas's Mom" does have a certain allure... 🤣).

Above Average Dave

P.S. One of our very first videos in the late 80s was The Sword in The Stone.

Chris Clarke

Brutal was exactly the word I used when I came back from watching this in the cinema. Wasn't what I expected from a Disney film at the time. My favourite part is the improvised song: "Are you aching..." "Yup yup yup!" "...For some bacon!" "Yup yup yup!"😄 I went to see the show in the West End of London last year, and had a seat near the back. It improves a lot when Timon and Pumba appear, and when they sing Hacuna Mutata I could see EVERYONE'S heads rocking from side to side to the beat!😂

Chris Clarke

It's basically Hamlet the cartoon, except without all the icky Oedipal stuff and suicide, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Hamlet's kick-ass uncles.

Steve Mercier

This is the very first movie I ever saw in theaters, and I absolutely love this movie. It is an absolute masterpiece. It soundtrack is definitely worth buying because it as amazing. Here is a fact that most people know but this film’s story is based “Hamlet”. Lion King II is based on “Romeo and Juliet”. Lion King 1 1/2 is based on “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead”. It follows Timon and Pumbaa and is set during the original film. If you ever get the chance to watch the Broadway version of the Lion King, I would highly recommend it because it is amazing. One of my favorite parts of the stage version was when Scar had Zazu imprisoned and had Zazu sing to Scar. Zazu sing “no body knows my sorrows” . Scar tells Zazu to lighten up so Zazu starts to sing “Let it go”( in the movie Zazu sings “It’s a Small World”) with Scar reacting by telling Zazu “anything but that” . That got the biggest laugh when I saw it

MrDannySteele

Excited for this! - I saw the movie back when it came out in the 90s - dubbed in danish at the local place... - I was captivated right from the start - magnificent voice acting - Especially when I saw the original version --- and heard the performance of the great Jeremy Irons...

Jens Kristensen

usually its cass who is way off the countdown...not this time. you should be ashamed countdown person.

rubberkidney

The Fox and the Hound was my animated favorite as a kid.

Walter

Hey Cassie, I don't know if you know this but the voice of adult Nala is Lucas's Mom on One Tree Hill

Katie Jackson

Right On Dude!

Larry Darrell

My brothers and I watched The Little Mermaid. The chef singing was the soundtrack of my youth.

Brent Petty

Love these reactions. The music in this is just amazing. It takes me back to my childhood watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights. I'm happy you and Carly are watching Iron Giant. Great movie. Remember, "you are who you choose to be". Also, the "jungle song", better known as The Lion Sleeps Tonight, was first recorded in the late 1930s but was made famous by the Tokens in 1961. Thanks as always Cassie for brightening the day.

Michael West

This wasn't out and the Disney Renaissance era hadn't started when I was little. Growing up, my go-to's were Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. I loved Aurora's voice. During the Renaissance period, my favorite was the Disney animated version of Tarzan. Tarzan is still one of my favorite Disney movies, and if both of you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you do. It would make a great reaction, and I think you two would love it. There are no traditional songs where the characters sing (well, there is one sort of song like that, lol), and I feel like if you go in knowing that, it won't be a letdown. The movie does have fantastic music, though, plus the animation is gorgeous, the voice acting is great, and the Disney take on the story is fantastic. It's not as well known, so it likely would never win a poll, but I hope you'll react to it someday. I loved this reaction, but then I wasn't expecting anything else. I'm so glad Carley enjoyed this movie so much.

Raven Dark

Also, Adult Nala is voiced by Moira Kelly, Lucas’ Mom from One Tree Hill🥰

Cole Jennett

As a 37 year old man I can say with the utmost conviction and passion that my go-to cartoon movie TO THIS DAY has got to be A Goofy Movie. If you havent sang I2I at the top of your lungs while mopping the kitchen floor have you truly ever lived? Also special shout out to Rock-a-Doodle!

Blake Evans

Fun fact- Barney was filmed at the same place Robocop was.

Mike Lemon

I've seen every Disney (and Pixar) animated film at least a couple of times, some of them many times. The Lion King remains one of my all time favorites from that era (along with Beauty and the Beast). the story is so Shakespearean (the relationship between Mufasa and Scar are practically ripped from the pages of both Hamlet and Richard III). Elton John's songs are great, but I love the score by Hans Zimmer—in my opinion the best film score he had done up to that point. (He's surpassed it many times since then).

D. T. Nelson

Junetoon (JuneToon?) it is! Heard it here first! Aladdin has always been my favorite toon, since it came out.

MikeLL

I always loved SLEEPING BEAUTY as a kid. But Malificent always terrified me.

Alex Villarreal

I saw Treasure of the Lost Lamp in theatre on my 13th birthday I believe

Cole Jennett

I was trying to limit the Major Disney Films on my list, and The Jungle Book was a hard one to leave off. Baloo was the Coolest.

Larry Darrell

Fun fact, the voices of Simba’s parents are the same actors that play the parents of Eddie Murphy in Coming to America seven years earlier. Guess that’s a sign you need to watch it soon😊

Cole Jennett

I was just about to start high school in '94, and just moved to Florida, and this was the very first movie I saw.

House Of Debo

If I could only recommend one animated movie it would be Watership Down (1978). It has everything.

Odd Thomas

Having not seen many Disney animated movies, this is the only way I will watch them. I wonder if they have something to offer my cold dead Gen X heart 🤷🏼🤣

Scott Macaulay

This is my nephew’s favorite Disney movie. I tried having him watch Bambi and he fell asleep. That was a huge let down for me. I love Bambi! Growing up it was always Cinderella (Gus Gus lol Octavius is my fav mouse and then Fievel) … of course I love Sleeping Beauty, Fantasia, Dumbo, Bambi, Fox and the Hound, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, Little Mermaid, Beauty and Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, Ferngully, The Last Unicorn, Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer, The Care Bears Movie, My Little Pony: The Movie, The Secret of the Sword (aka He-Man and She-Ra). If you guys haven’t seen The Adventures of Milo and Otis, then that would make for a very cute reaction with Carly. That movie and Homeward Bound were my go-to films for live action starring animals.

Rose

Just to reassure Carly, she is not the only one. I was 10 when this movie was released and to this day I have never seen it. Actually, most of the 90s Disney I never watched. What did I watch as a kid? 101 DALMATIANS was surely one of them. And I remember a few other local ones that I would be surprised if anyone knew them here: VUK / THE LITTLE FOX (1981), MACSKAFOGÓ / CAT CITY (1986). But frankly, my go to movie was not animated, and starting from age 5-6 I watched it 100+ times for sure: THE FINAL COUNTDOWN (1980) ☺️ PS: actually, it seems CAT CITY kind of has some international recognition and was a Canadian co-production, and even streaming in the USA and available on Blu-ray. I'm surprised by the latter because it was never released here. I may need to import that one. 😄 If someone is in an adventurous mood check it out. It is considered a cult classic here and is a parody of many films, mainly on the spy/Bond movies. Trailer: https://youtu.be/bs8K0mtaq_E

Gábor Árki

I just can't wait to be king!

Robert Nelson

I remember this time in my life very well. My mom was pregnant with my sister when this movie came out. I remember being so excited to see it and my sisters dad going to Meijers and picking it up at midnight the night they released it on VHS. I was so excited we all sat and watched it around 1am.

Katie Jackson

Jim Cummings is quite a talent. He also dubbed Christopher Loyd's voice for Rasputin's song in ANASTASIA.

Stick Figure Studios

Absolutely great reaction! A few notes. Yes, the lead Hyena was indeed voiced by Whoopi Goldberg. Jeremy Irons was the voice of Scar except for the last verse of Be Prepared. Irons blew out his voice on “You WONT get a sniff without me” so Jim Cummings sung the last verse. Another note of Jim Cummings in this movie, he plays Ed the laughing Hyena. There’s actually something really cool about that role. Cummings went with the interpretation that Ed is not really crazy, but is actually a vicious psychopath that just pretends to be crazy. You’ll notice how the other 2 hyenas (Whoopi Goldberg and Cheech Marin) ask his opinion on things. It seems like a joke and they’re humoring their slow witted friend when in reality it’s meant to indicate they know his true nature and are scared to do anything without his approval. I think it’s awesome!

Henry Arndt

My animated go to no movie growing up? The Jungle Book…I couldn’t get enough of the song “I Wanna Be Like You” by Louis Prima and Phil Harris. I still watch the movie with my daughters from time to time, and I have the song on a playlist on my phone 😊. And its not an animated film (muppets by Jim Henson), but I also watched Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas all the time. I’m hoping its something you’ll consider watching come December.

Dan M

Go to animated movie? Let me try and condense my list… it was getting long. My Favorites growing up… One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) The Sword and the Stone (1963) Robin Hood (1973) The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977) The Rescuers (1977) An American Tail (1986) The Great Mouse Detective (1986) All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989) Jetsons: The Movie (1990) DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp (1990) An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991) Rock-a-Doodle (1991) Bebe’s Kids (1992) Ferngully: The Last Rainforest (1992) A Goofy Movie (1995) Beavis and Butt-head Do America (1996)… I was getting older by now Mixed with Live Action… So Dear to My Heart (1948) Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) Believe it or not, I did shorten that list. :-)

Larry Darrell

This was the very first movie I ever saw in a theatre. 😁 My mom read the book to me so many times as a kid. The movie lived up to everything that I imagined it would be. So did the Broadway musical, that was phenomenal. 🥲 Who saw footage of the 30th Anniversary Live-to-Film concert at the Hollywood Bowl? 😀 Jeremy Irons sang. Nathan Lane sang. So many of the original singing cast were there to sing those beautiful songs. 😁

Zane From Canada

I was born in 1960. I don't remember having a single favorite animated movie but I do remember Sunday nights in the 1970's watching Disney's Wonderful World of Color, The Beachcombers and The Irish Rovers on the CBC.

Joseph H Searles

“Every great Disney movie starts with a brutal murder; O’ Yeller, Bambi, The Lion King.” — Deadpool

Uncle Phoenix

I suspect most people probably have more than one "go-to" animated feature growing up (maybe one for different "phases" of their childhood). I certainly did. Among them are the upcoming winner of your animated poll THE SECRET OF NIMH, also RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY: A MUSICAL ADVENTURE, AN AMERICAN TAIL, LAND BEFORE TIME, DUMBO, THE MANY ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH, SWORD IN THE STONE and PINOCCHIO. I grew up in an era when Disney wasn't yet releasing their animated features to home video but was re-releasing them to theaters every few years (I remember what a big deal it was when they put their first new animated feature out on home video: it was LITTLE MERMAID, the beginning of their "Renaissance" period) so I didn't get to watch classics like SNOW WHITE, CINDERELLA, PETER PAN, SLEEPING BEAUTY, THE FOX AND THE HOUND, JUNGLE BOOK, THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE, BAMBI, FANTASTIA and RESCUERS regularly until I was at least an adolescent. I do remember when LION KING came out. I was in college and staying home for the summer, so I saw it with my family. My dad in particular, who doesn't usually like animation, loved it. Looking forward to this video. I can't wait to see Carly's reaction. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

This is going to be a great trip down memory lane for me. This was a regular watch in our house when my girls were young…at least twice a week. And I never got tired of it. One of my all time favorite Disney films and animated films. Great story, great music, great songs, great cast, great animation. Can’t wait to watch along with you both.

Dan M

My Verray Scarray May theme suggestion goes unheeded again. Sigh. This is fun too, though. It's the ciiiiiiiiircle of liiiiiiiiiiiiiiife............. Happy Summer!!

Chris Thom

I remember when this came out. We went opening weekend and the theater was packed, but there was a storm and the power went out just before the movie started. We sat in the dark theater for about 30 minutes or 45 minutes, and then they came in and told everyone that they would be giving vouchers to come back and watch it another day. So that's what we had to do. I don't think I'll ever forget that. 😂

Caomhan84

I mean it's ok for its time, but it's definitely no North West version.

aarswft

funny story: this came out when I was young, and because they just kept showing commercials for it I instinctively disliked it (I know, shame on me!) but then I finally saw it (back in the days of VHS) and to this day I think it’s one of best movies of all time, animated or otherwise; everyone I knew loved this movie, knew all the songs, could quote so many lines, it was a phenomenon back then 🤩

JL_83

My go to animated movies when I was growing up: I was born in 1970 (get off my lawn)...so for Disney, it was probably THE ARISTOCATS or THE RESCUERS. I remember watching those quite a bit in the 70s. In the 80s, I was all about ROBOTECH, STAR BLAZERS, and BATTLE OF THE PLANETS for television cartoons, and HEAVY METAL, WIZARDS, AKIRA, and NINJA SCROLL for animated movies.

Matt Rose

Going to watch this later tonight, but I’d like answer the question now and completely date myself: My goto animated movie as a child was the 1967 Walt Disney Classic “JUNGLE BOOK.”

I'm more excited than I should be to get home from work tonight and watch this!

I've actually never sat down and seen this before. Seen a lot of other Disney/Pixar movies that I liked. 30 years late but excited to experience it for the first time with you two.

Aladdin and The Lion King were my go to’s, but I gotta say, Frozen is right there with them. All 3 are incredible

My go-to animated movie growing up was “Heavy Metal.” In fact, it’s still my go-to animated movie. I’m also a fan of “Vampire Hunter D” and “Hellsing.” As for Disney animation, I’ve always been more of a Looney Tunes kinda guy.

Just Plain Bob

One of Disney’s best. Looking forward to watching this reaction.
