Well a day late, story of MY LIFE these days. Like I keep saying recently, this month is so fun, but sheeeessshhh it gets busy! My brother and his family came to visit from Montana this week to help us to finish the basement-it is so fun to see them-we are doing a restaurant crawl of Utah with them and all the festive activities we can muster in between painting and sanding!
This week we will have the winner of our Classic Christmas Poll and a fun Christmas movie with Arnie! I also just posted another Christmas movie poll, so make sure to go vote on that one!
Thank you all so so much to those who came to the LIVE on Saturday, it was amazing and we were able to raise $3400 in donations and then I rounded it up to $4000 to donate food and gas cards to families with children staying in the hospital over Christmas. I cannot wait to give them to them. It seriously made my heart grow 3 sizes to see the generosity large and small! Thank you!!!
I hope you all are feeling the warm and cozies this Christmas season so far!
Bring me some figgy pudding ,
Cassie

2023-12-18 22:18:52 +0000 UTCLong ago when my mom and dad were waiting in their seats for the movie to start. Julia Roberts and her then boyfriend Kiefer Sutherland, both sat behind my parents. Julia kept kicking my mom's seat because she wanted my parents to movie. From that point forward, I never wanted to watch a Julia Roberts movie.

2023-12-18 03:25:34 +0000 UTCMovies for 2024...Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman, and Alfred Hitchcock classic from 1945..."Spellbound" And two Gregory Peck classics about prejudice in America... "Gentleman's Agreement" and "To Kill A Mockingbird 1962. "Big Country" "The Guns of Navarone" and "Cape Fear" are also great Gregory Peck movies. And to add a little trivia...Gregory's grandson plays Spock on the Star Trek series Stranger Worlds.

2023-12-16 13:47:55 +0000 UTCBig TV recommendation from 1985. The show which made Bruce Willis career. Without it there's be no Die Hard. Its called Moonlighting. Great writing. Lots of action and wit between him and Cybil Shepard. Its currently streaming on Hulu.

2023-12-15 22:19:13 +0000 UTCI would never completely dismiss SCROOGED (or any film for that matter). It has its pleasures, but it is a mess of a movie. An entertaining mess, yes, but a mess nonetheless.

2023-12-15 08:08:03 +0000 UTCLooking forward to westerns in 2024...Cassie you enjoyed the Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O'hara...take a look at McKlintock. And if you want to watch baby Kevin Costner check out Silverado, it has Danny Glover - from Lethal Weapon. Scott Gleen, from the Right Stuff, he was Axe from Backdraft, and Linda Hunt - she was the principal in Kindergarten Cop, Kevin Klein, you didn't like his character in a Fish Called Wanda - but he's a good person and actor in movies such as "Dave" and "De-Lovely. Unusual for Hollywood actors he's been married to one wife, Phoebe Cates for 34 years, and there is also John Cleese, same guy from a Fish Called Wanda...he's known primarily as a super silly actor from Monty Python.

2023-12-14 23:34:02 +0000 UTCIndeed, but you still need to be wary of a minority report.
John Liebling
2023-12-14 23:07:31 +0000 UTCI'm sure that some people did, but I'm confident it wouldn't have been enough people to have made a difference otherwise. I mean, it won by almost 10% (it had 28% and the next closest title had only 19%). With 785 votes total, that's like 80 people. In all likelihood, SCROOGE still would have won and I'm fine with that. I like the movie. At any rate, they should have paid better attention. That's why they put the release year after the title (SCROOGE came out in 1970 and SCROOGED came out in 1988), so people can know what it is they're voting for. If folks don't actually read the options or know that much about the person whose channel they're patronizing (namely, that she already reacted to the movie you want her to watch), there really isn't anything we can do about that.

2023-12-14 16:52:22 +0000 UTCThe original bishop’s wife with Cary Grant was such a clever movie for its time. building sexual tension of that nature in the 40s and yet keeping true to the theme was not easy! Plus, Cary Grant!

2023-12-14 16:50:13 +0000 UTCI think it's be interesting if Cassie reacted to every major version of that story: the one with Alistair Sim, the one with Patrick Stewart, the one with George C. Scott, the one with Jim Carrey, etc.

2023-12-13 19:04:46 +0000 UTCThis week on Patron... it seems like a skip week for me personally. Muchas Gracias, Mr. Scrooge! Lol, what on earth! I'll give that a miss. I honestly think people thought they were voting for Bill Murray's "Scrooged" which has already been watched. "Jingle All the Way" pretty much marked the beginning of Arnold's career decline. He attempted to capture the quirkiness of "Twins" with "Junior" and "Eraser," as a sort of "True Lies" action extravaganza, which didn't quite work. And in an attempt to regain his "Kindergarten Cop" audience, he did this. Anything past True Lies is rubbish, even though the last action hero was the one before, it's also dire. Still we have classic Arnold in Red Heat, The Running Man, Conan, Commando and my favourite Total Recall. So plenty of great Arnie left.

2023-12-13 01:19:26 +0000 UTCFrom Google - Figgy pudding is a pudding in the British sense of the word, which means it is a steamed cakelike dessert. This particular Christmas version is traditionally made with suet (which is raw beef or mutton fat), eggs, brown sugar, breadcrumbs, spices, dried fruits and, last -- but certainly not least --- brandy

2023-12-13 00:30:23 +0000 UTCSCROOGE is a nice film. Not my favorite version of this classic tale, but not bad. The movie was clearly an attempt to tap into the same enormous success that the Best Picture-wimming OLIVER! (a musical telling of the Dickens story "Oliver Twist") had a little over a year earlier. The songs aren't anything to write home about (save one really great one that comes near the end), but Albert Finney is terrific as Scrooge. I'm interested to see if you recognize him from other movies you've reacted to on the channel... same thing with the actor they got to play Marley. I am very curious to see your reaction to JINGLE ALL THE WAY. It gets a lot of hatred, but I've always liked it. It makes me laugh and it's a pretty pointed satire of the commercialization of Christmas. Anyway, looking forward to this week.

2023-12-13 00:28:41 +0000 UTCPut the cookie down 😂😂, that cracks me up every time lol. The kid is Jake Lloyd who played Anakin in Star Wars episode one.
