Update! Update! Read all about it!

Hey everyone, hope all of you who celebrated had a cozy Thanksgiving! It was a bit of an off week for me honestly. Holidays can be hard sometimes can't they? Un-met expectations, homesickness, real sickness (the kids got what we had) and how in the world does anyone get everything in their meal to all be hot at the same time!?

It felt like Christmas around here so Die Hard felt right ;) It was a really fun one though, I'm excited for you to watch that with us! Then, since Inside Man was so great, I decided to do the next two heist winners as well! 1 more Star Trek episode will be coming to Patreon this week too, and maybe even one more, your comments are swaying me a bit...

A few announcements! In the next few days some old content will be popping up as we update things for The Collections including all our Tv episodes in one place.  Please give grace to our production quality in our beginnings if you go back and watch as we pretty much had no idea what we were doing ha

Extra butter LIVE tomorrow night (11.28) at 8pm! I think it will be a watch-along to one of these heist movies! Thoughts?

As I am thinking about December's schedule, what Christmas movies am I missing from my "seen" collection? What movies should be on a Christmas Movie Poll?

Ok what are you most excited about for the month of December?

Love,

Cassie

Comments

Gremlins is an amazing Christmas movie, that would be a perfect choice.

shireknight

The movie takes place in 1971 and is made to feel like it came out back then, so it almost could be a "cheat" for one of your older Christmas movies lol

Stranger2Reality

Ive heard great things about this!!

Cassie

While not a “Christmas Movie,” it is a movie set around the holiday and it has lots of beautiful snow. Nobody’s Fool, starring Paul Newman, Bruce Willis, Melanie Griffith, and Jessica Tandy. It’s a perfect Cassie/Carly movie, it’s got romance, comedy, and great actors.

Brian Lowery

"Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny f***ing Kaye." - Clark W. Griswold

Bill W

@Mike LL - what replaced it as your favorite?

Rose

@Larry Darrell - you’re absolutely right! How could I have gotten that so wrong. I haven’t seen Kitty Foyle in years. I think I still have the VHS tape. I need to refresh my memory and watch that again because I remembered after watching it that she deserved the Oscar.

Rose

We need to get NCFOM off the list so it's not perpetually "pending". Let's get through it so we can move on to less obvious choices. We're not moving through the ranked requested list very fast because of spontaneous and/or seasonal reactions, and people that insist Cassie watch every sequel in a franchise. As for ST TOS, set phasers to YAWN.

Bill W

Sorry to hear about your troubles, too.

Uncle Phoenix

Haha well I thought so Sören 😅 Awesome that you requested my all time favorite movie. 😍😍😍👌👌👌👍👍👍🥹🥹🥹 I'm talking about the most heartbreaking/heartwarming coming-of-age movie that has ever been made imo. I guess you know which one 😄😄 Hmmm..... I think Agnes is a little bit shy on my display image 😁😁

Björn Karlsson

Yes 😃

søren knudsen

The Room is an Oscar winner compared to Birdemic - a film by a man who had $10,000 and thought it would be a good idea to make a effects heavy film about flocks of birds attacking people.

Richard Maurer

Plan Nine! I love that movie! In fact, it's my FAVORITE!!!!!!!!

Richard Maurer

Jingle all the way, batman Returns, home alone 3, scrooged, dutch, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Gremlins, Edward Scissorhands, The Family Man, The Ref, Prancer, Serendipity, The Nativity Story

Jimmy Reyes

Yes, this time it was a little different. So, the best way to insure you don't miss it is to check the "With-Butter" chat on the PIB Discord channel. The link is always posted there. This time it was there more than a half hour before the event started.

Steve Holton

I have never had issues finding it before. I normally get an email notification and I can link to the discord through the email. Plus, there is also normally a link in patreon.

Rick Williams

I second The Long Kiss Goodnight. A favorite of mine as well, and definitely one both Cassie and Carly can watch. Great cast and a top notch script.

Brian Lowery

Hi Rick, the best way to not miss a live for the Extra Butter Tier is to monitor the "With-Butter" chat on the Popcorn In Bed Discord channel. The link for each live will be posted in that chat before the event.

Steve Holton

Did Cassie do her live on the night of 11/28? I was looking for it from 8 to 8:30 MT and didn't see it.

Rick Williams

If we’re going to have an Action Christmas Movie, my vote goes to… The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)… An All-Time Favorite of mine. If there’s a chance you haven’t seen ALL of Christmas Vacation (1989), from beginning to end, as in you cannot quote at least 5 Lines from the movie, then you should try and watch it this year. It will give you the Hap-Hap Happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap danced with Danny Fu…. Anyways, it makes for a Fun Old-Fashioned Family Christmas. :-) For more Traditional Old-Fashioned Classic Christmas Films… The Bishop’s Wife (1947) It Happened on Fifth Avenue (1947) Holiday Affair (1949) Remember the Night (1940) Bachelor Mother (1939)… also works through New Years Two Classic WWII Films, that serve as Christmas movies in my house, if you’re interested in such… Destination Tokyo (1943) Battleground (1949)… Band of Brothers influencer Lastly, for future Heist Films… Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974)… Clint Eastwood & a young Jeff Bridges.

Larry Darrell

You should watch Joyeux Noel for Christmas!

Sophie Gallo

Thanks

Bill Maurer

I have yet to watch the lengthy Gettysburg (1993), but I've seen the early scene(s) with Sam Elliot. Memorable.

Happy Hanukkah

A belated like for your Sneakers formulation. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Mike, here's my compromise: no Star Trek until NCfOM, and we wait indefinitely for NCfOM. Are we all in agreement? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Celeste, yes, but................Never mind. 🤐

james flack

And how often they recommend movies that have been reacted to over and over and over again...

Celeste McAllister

Paul, I believe you meant to say aunt, but you were in a hurry and just made a typo. -J

james flack

'HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSON' a cute DK bio-musical..

Celeste McAllister

Wish I could agree but NCfOM is my least favorite Coen Bros

mikethemotormouth

That is a good point. Cassie can put their reaction of White Christmas on YouTube this year!

Mike LL

Yes. This is why I am now asking for a 1930's movie poll and a 1940's movie poll.

Mike LL

I agree, but I think she's only doing 3 episodes..and I think it's only to supplement having watched Galaxy Quest.

Bill W

Bad Santa has my vote, but I'm pretty sure Cassie would hate it. Tucker and Dale is more of a light hearted, twisted movie. Bad Santa is just twisted with very little redemption. (And I'm all for it).

Al Swearengen

There are still so many good movies Cassie hasn't seen, why waste time with Star Trek? New rule: If No Country for Old Men hasn't been seen, then Star Trek gets tossed out the window.

Al Swearengen

Attention: Comments made to Patreons other than to myself, will not be tolerated, and all violators will be required to force watch "Plan Nine from Outer Space" ten times in a row. 😁

james flack

YES! My favorite comedy and a Christmas staple. Cassie would absolutely despise it, so yes let's make it happen.

Al Swearengen

Highly recommend The Long Kiss Goodnight as a Christmas movie

Swigzby

@Mike LL - "EVERY movie is SOMEONE's favorite movie" - Birdemic? I mean as someone's serious favorite, not them trying to be funny or different. Because if such a person exists I'd like to meet them (with them in restraints, which I assume would be necessary for someone whos favorite film is Birdemic).

Richard Maurer

Why not both? As long as I'm dreaming, I mean.

Richard Maurer

Yes, their chief export, not a rare export. Their rare exports are something verrrrrry different.

Richard Maurer

Much more good than bad. There were 3 I definitely could have done without. Memento Adventures In Babysitting Courage Under Fire 13 Hours Bridge On The River Kwai Fools Rush In Backdraft Blast From The Past Grumpy Old Men Little Miss Sunshine Dog Day Afternoon Inside Man

Bill W

That was excellent. A very close 2nd to the '51 version.

Bill W

Haven't seen your already done list. But two classics are Holiday Inn and White Christmas ... both musicals . We're talking Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, George Cloony's mom Rosemary,

Paul Rich

I recall her saying she has seen Christmas Vacation in parts, at different times on the TV over the years, but never really sat down and watched it from start to finish. She definitely needs to do this. Almost every line of this movie is Quotable. A REAL MUST SEE. “Don’t throw me down, Clark.”

Larry Darrell

Gremlins is a fun, offbeat Christmas movie

sourcreamus

And if you want pure silliness - Any Marx Brothers film would hit the spot. Talking pictures were only two years old when "The Cocoanuts came out in 1929...followed with: "Animal Crackers" 1930, "Monkey Business" 1931, "Horse Feathers" 1932, "Duck Soup" 1933 and "Night At The Opera" 1935.

John Liebling

Times are always in Cassies Mountain time.

The Gemini Man

8 PM is which time zone ?

David

For a good Xmas movie you should watch November Christmas you and Carly would probably enjoy it

Darrell berger

The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle.

Stick Figure Studios

Pretty much all Danny Kaye movies are kid-friendly: COURT JESTER, SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY, UP IN ARMS, WONDER MAN, THE KID FROM BROOKLYN, etc

Stick Figure Studios

all great suggestions - especially anything with Cary Grant and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

Walter

If you want a kid friendly Danny Kaye movie that would be Hans Christian Anderson.

John Liebling

Cassie there is a wealth of great movies and great acting from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.

John Liebling

I agree Tinkerbell Meet Me in St Louis would bring a smile to both Cassie and Carly. And Cassie you'd also enjoy the 1947 Cary Grant movie The Bishop's Wife. And any Frank Capra movie during the holidays would be great. He directed Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and Cassie you and Carly already reacted to Its A Wonderful Life. The following are two other good Frank Capra movies: Meet John Doe 1941 with Gary Cooper and Barbra Stanwyck and You Can't Take It with You 1938 - with James Stewart.

John Liebling

I love Sneakers!!!! It is good to watch at anytime. Wish I could join you!!!

Judy M. Goodman

What am I most excited about for December? Not working for 18 days!!

The Gemini Man

haha!

Philip Alan

THE HATEFUL 8 always gets me in the mood for christmas. Just like Die Hard.

BlueChip300

I’ll always keep a picture tube TV too. Just can’t let it go. :-)

Larry Darrell

I don't think I've ever seen a request for Mask with Sam Elliott and Cher. Another good one with him

Shawn Kildal

I strongly suggest Meet Me in St Louis and Christmas in Connecticut. Meet Me in St Louis is one of the big, classic great Christmas movies and it is one of Judy Garland’s best performances. Christmas in Connecticut is a delightful rom-com with Barbara Stanwyck and is a lot of fun. I also like include Desk Set as one of my watch between Christmas and New Year’s Eve movies. It’s a fun opportunity to watch Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy in a movie together.

Tinkerbell

Sam Elliot’s voice is amazing. I heard Bradley cooper say he was inspired by it for his character in a star is born . Elliot was amazing in that as well. To me though he’ll always be Wade Garratt best cooler in the business in roadhouse

LDC7080

People recommend films all the time. And music for that matter. If we’re not for many a recommendation there would have been many things I would have missed out on. Also options vary I’m not certain people are saying their opinion about something is paramount it’s just their opinion . You either chose to watch or not watch and then you can make your own opinion

LDC7080

Actually… it was Kitty Foyle (1940) which garnered Ginger Rogers her first and only Oscar win. Bachelor Mother (1939) was Rogers’ first solo film After officially parting ways with Fred Astaire. This film being such a huge hit, once and for all proved to RKO Studios that Rogers was a Star without Astaire. Bachelor Mother even grossed a sizable amount more than the last Fred & Ginger picture that released two months prior. I believe it was because of Bachelor Mother, that Ginger Rogers was offered Kitty Foyle after Katharine Hepburn turned it down. Bachelor Mother is a Must See Holiday Film every year for me. I love Ginger Rogers acting and line delivery in it too. She’s so natural and I think that really helps ground the craziness that is happening and makes you believe it. Yes to The Bishop’s Wife as well. Another Must See.

Larry Darrell

I suggested a theme in October, but call it Shlocktober and watch some “ So bad it is good” type entertainment and suggested The Room as one of them. Although to be fair, The Room is so bad, it’s bad. “ Hi doggy” “ You’re my favourite customer”

Brian McGovern

My favorite Christmas movie is the 1999 "A Christmas Carol" starring Patrick Stewart. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0216621/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3_tt_8_nm_0_q_A%2520Christmas%2520Carol

Allen W. McDonnell

Or you could just go with "The Lemon Drop Kid" (1951) and take a break from all this Holiday stress, for at least a day or two anyway. Just sayin...💛

james flack

Thanks!! Love my tiny tv :)

pastel vhs

Oh woops! I didn’t see it on the PiB Letterboxd

pastel vhs

How do you forget what day Christmas is?

Bill W

It's because they don't want to see a viewing slot wasted with something they don't want to watch. That shouldn't be surprising.

Bill W

More fitting for Valentine's Day.

Bill W

Richard - I thought Finland's chief export was NHL players with awesome names.

Bill W

I think she's seen The Family Stone

Odd Thomas

I had a guy on another channel say he watches Sixteen Candles at Christmas. . Pretty sure it's set in very early fall (Sept) or very late spring. The grandparents are visiting to attend the Sam's sister's wedding. He said- yeah the grandparents are staying at the house, so it feels like a Holiday movie. Sigh.

Bill W

Die Hard 4 is more of a 4th of July movie tbh.

Mario

+1 for The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996). Great Avatar. :-)

Larry Darrell

Hey at least it's not Speed 2 Cruise Control

mikethemotormouth

Fourth is fun, best to give the fifth a miss (I can't even get through it!)

Dazman

Cassie is really good at picking movies

Uncle Phoenix

"The Night the Reindeer Died" staring Lee Majors is a good one. 😉

james flack

It’s better than 2 and 3

Alex Gorell

Long Kiss Goodnight and The Family Stone!

pastel vhs

Glad to see what you think of Die Had IV. It is my favorite.

Michael McDaniel

True. I can handle Gremlins. Wouldn’t make my top 3 though.

Don

Best thing about Christmas for me is the change of pace. Nice to forget what day it is and just enjoy what ever the day brings

LDC7080

You gotta love when a sweet young woman says "It feels a lot like Christmas around here, let's watch some DIE HARD!"

Terry Yelmene

Not done gremlins yet

LDC7080

Hahaha I'm just wondering....... are you "Sören" on Popcorn request?? 😃🙂

Björn Karlsson

I'll lobby and vote for the 1984 version of 'A Christmas Carol' w/George C. Scott.🎄🎁

Celeste McAllister

The opening scene on its own should be good for several "Oh My Goshes!" :-) (As well as providing a possible answer to Cassie's lament as to how to keep food hot.)

Happy Hanukkah

Not Christmas-y per se, but The Court Jester (1955) involves the efforts of good people to protect a newborn babe from a crooked king (in Robin Hood times). Comedy gold.

2-Can

Come on, Cole, Cassie and Carly enjoyed Days of Thunder as well as Far and Away, which are the other two Cruise/Kidman movies. How different can Eyes Wide Shut be? :-P

Happy Hanukkah

Wow.

Richard Maurer

Two of my favorite movies! I've been hoping for Cassie to see Family Man ever since It Could Happen to You.

Mike Amandes

Rare Exports is a Finnish film (who knew Finland had a movie industry, right?) that can be found on a surprising number of streaming services, Amazon Prime being the main one.

Richard Maurer

My favorite Christmas movie is Human Centipede /s.

Richard Maurer

Glad "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" is getting some love. I forget it was based around Christmas. That and "The Nice Guys" were some the first things I looked up on Popcorn Requests as I thought they would be good reactions. Cassie has already seen "The Nice Guys" but Cassie and Carly reacting might happen at some point. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is unseen so a great candidate. They tick a lot boxes: * Shane Black as writer/director, known to the channel for Lethal Weapon, Predator. * Actors that are known and liked on the channel. RDJ, Val Kilmer, Michelle Monaghan in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in The Nice Guys. * Action, crime, comedy - buddy cop genre.

Mojo One Thousand

I don't know how I could even think it was 1995? I obliviously had a brain f@rt! It was 2015!

Barry Justice

Every Christmas movie I thought of, Cassie has already seen 😂. So looking forward to the more experienced people’s suggestions.

Omar

I have never heard, much less seen Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, but now I'm a man on a mission!

Barry Justice

Oh, and let's remind Cassie that Family Man also stars Téa Leoni, who she might remember from Deep Impact.

Happy Hanukkah

Yes, I highly doubt she'd find the movie appealing. On top of that, the movie is too niche to succeed in a poll. Pity. For the benefit of the Gentiles out there (/joke), The Hebrew Hammer is a parody of the Blaxploitation films, but with Jews instead. Jewsploitation, if you will.

Happy Hanukkah

Die Hard is always a christmas movie, but after Die Hard 4, you force the badly behaving kids to watch them

Banned by CineBinge, for no reason. 1 day after purcasing Patreon.. FU

Cassie. You asked what Christmas movies are missing from your list. So far you have reacted to It's a Wonderful Life and the classic Miracle On 34th Street but the big one your missing is the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol. I know you watched The Muppet Christmas Carol so you know the plot of the movie but what your missing is the performance of Alastair Sim who plays Ebenezer Scrooge. I can't help but cry at the ending so I would love to see your reaction. As long as I'm here making a recommendation how about Darby O'Gill and the Little People for Saint Patrick's Day next year.

Joseph H Searles

Here is a recommendation for a different kind of Christmas movie. BAD SANTA

søren knudsen

James, what I often say is almost the same thing, I say that EVERY movie is SOMEONE's favorite movie.

Mike LL

At one point in time years ago Swing Time was my favorite movie.

Mike LL

I had forgotten that Shawn. I guess I forgot a lot of things. 🤣 My impression is that she didn't like the gross out juvenile humor of Vacation. Christmas Vacation is not on her Letterbxd list so I thought she hadn't seen it.

Mike LL

People recommending movies to not watch is fairly common across a lot of reaction channels (from what I've seen).

Mario

Yes to The Holiday. Something tells me she's already seen it though

ROBERT CLARK

YES!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy to hear that you and Carly will be watching the 4th Die Hard, I cannot wait to see you two react to that one, it's gonna be fun! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well Cassie, mine was descent! Sorry you and Ben ended up giving your kids what you two had in terms of sickness, that sucks lol, I hope they get well soon! Once again I won't be able to join you for your Extra Butter LIVE, working all day😭 The only other Christmas themed movie that I can think of that I recommend is THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT staring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson, it's a really good action, thriller, mystery, espionage movie, really fun! Samuel L. Jackson himself has gone on record at saying that his roll in that movie is by far his favorite throughout his career! Sorry, but STAR TREK is not for me, team STAR WARS all the way lol! The only thing I'm excited for in December is just the soothing comfort of Christmas lol! Hope you're doing well, have a great day, love and support always, [virtual hug🤗] God bless you, Carly, and your family🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

Wesley White

Cassie, it never ceases to amaze me how many of your fans are so quick to recommend movies for you NOT to watch, rather than the more positive alternative. I've always wondered why all these naysayers are of the opinion that their interpretation of a film is the criteria that all the rest of us must adhere to. Just sayin'...💛 P.S. Even the worst movie ever made could be dear to someone's heart.

james flack

Did they say the F word a lot? That’s the directors cut.

djKENTO

@Happy, I don't know, but the humor style might be a little off putting to one with her sensibilities, maybe.

Mike Lemon

Can’t wait for A fish called Wanda and Sneakers. Great movies. Wanda is hilarious. I’m not keen on Christmas films. In fact I hate them. You’ve already done the best ones. Die Hard, Lethal Weapon and Trading places.

Don

I love that you're continuing with the Die Hard series. Not that any of the later sequels are comparable to the first 3, but I love that you're just carrying on with it! I'll watch again with you!

Philip Alan

I love The Bishop’s Wife, which stars Cary Grant, the gorgeous Loretta Young, and David Niven. I watch it every Chistmas . Here’s a couple that I think are underrated Christmas films: - All Mine to Give (1957) - based on a true-life story and one that my dad never forgot watching as a kid. - Bachelor Mother (1939) - David Niven with Ginger Rogers in her only Oscar-winning performance (Best Actress). I’m a huge Ginger Rogers fan and hope to see one of her films on the channel someday. ♡︎ Just cause: “Swing Time“ (1936) - Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers film that I first saw during Christmas break back in HS - I instantly fell in love with these two and had to get the Ultimate Collector’s Edition that included all 10 of their films together.

Rose

Here I am on Patreon. I’m only a kernel, but I will shout loudly for SNEAKERS.

PubsWorld

I'm excited for THE FISH CALLED WANDA. It was the only one of my 3 picks that made it to the finals. For Christmas the one I can think of: Star Wars - The Holiday Special Just kidding 😄 Not Christmas, but I think fitting for December: - KISS KISS BANG BANG (2005). A great, but somewhat underrated crime/comedy from the writer of Lethal Weapon. As many of his stories, it takes places around Christmas. This is the movie that revived the carrier of RDJ, and also starring Val Kilmer. - COMING TO AMERICA (1988). A comedy/romance of Eddie Murphy, one of his best movies IMO. For Christmas movie contender: - 8-BIT CHRISTMAS (2021). I have not seen it yet myself, but hearing positive things about it from people I trust. It is taking place during the 80s starring a group of kids.

Gábor Árki

If Die Hard is a Christmas movie (which it most certainly is not), then Live Free or Die Hard is totally a 4th of a July movie.

Julian San

Except that they switch some of the takes for ones that are less funny.

Stick Figure Studios

Here's a recommendation for an unusual Christmas movie. YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES

Stick Figure Studios

Cassie and Carly watched that one - I recommend checking their watchalong for it out, it’s great!

Alex Ch

Sorry to hear you've had such bad year, William.

Richard Maurer

How about the greatest Christmas horror movie ever - Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. But Krampus is good too.

Richard Maurer

You could do something totally outside the box and have a Classic Horror poll for Christmas...... okay, I know that was a longshot but you can't blame me for trying.

Richard Maurer

Why do you think she didn't like the first Vacation movie? She was laughing quite a bit throughout. She's seen Christmas Vacation (she eluded to that talking about the different kids) but she did say she needs to re-watch it

Shawn Kildal

Another classic Christmas movie to check out is White Christmas. It was my mom's favorite, and my family watches it every year.

Mike Amandes

She's seen Love Actually. She's also seen Christmas Vacation but says she needs to watch it again.

Shawn Kildal

Great movie selections, haven't watched these in ages, great time to re-watch them

JPDotCom23

THE BISHOP'S WIFE for the holiday

Steve Colletti

Trapped in Paradise for Christmas movie poll. Older Nicolas cage comedy with Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey

Nicole

Why would Cassie hate it? Are you implying she's antisemitic?! :-) :-) :-) I was actually considering "nominating" The Hebrew Hammer, but I decided to be serious for a change. Thank you for picking up the slack.

Happy Hanukkah

@Walter Great idea for a double header. Those movies are spiritual brothers.

Just Plain Bob

@Uncle Phoenix Good news! Cassie plans on watching Space Seed (the Khan episode) but is now looking to possibly react to a fourth episode as well.

Just Plain Bob

I have to say, I would never have watched Star Wars if not for this channel.

Uncle Phoenix

Family Man has got to be the sweetest Nic Cage movie.

Uncle Phoenix

I FEEL like The Ref with Dennis Leary would be a nice Christmas Movie.

Uncle Phoenix

And please watch the one with Young Khan.

Uncle Phoenix

Eddie Murphy was so awesome, I actually cried when his brother died. RIP Charlie Murphy.

Uncle Phoenix

John Cena was so funny in Sisters.

Uncle Phoenix

Enemy of the State was such a good movie.

Uncle Phoenix

According to her letterboxd list, she's seen Catch Me If You Can. Great movie though

Shawn Kildal

Another movie set at Christmas time is Ordinary People. Multiple Oscar winner including Best Picture. Directed by Robert Redford. An all time favorite of mine.

Shawn Kildal

shoot i don’t know, the one that was 2 hours and 8 minutes?

Cassie

Cassie, I can't wait for 'A fish called Wanda', you are going to love it!

Greggory Shaw

Good call. That’s a great double feature

Wes

She has mentioned doing a re-watch with the trilogy

Shawn Kildal

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang is a must-watch!! It's fantastic. Double feature with The Nice Guys.

Walter

The Ref!

Walter

The Lemon Drop Kid (1951) staring Bob Hope - Comedy Scrooge (1970) staring Albert Finney - Musical

Shane Myers myers

The Ref is in my top 5 Christmas movies of all time. I watch it every Christmas!

Future Boy

Come on. Eyes Wide Shut has a Christmas tree in almost every scene!

Future Boy

Well darn it

David Freese

I gathered from her wording that she and Carly already watched it by the time she made this post

Cole Jennett

Yeah, I think that’s a little disingenuous selling it as a Christmas movie, with two of her favourites. It’s not a movie for her at all, imo

Cole Jennett

Really sorry to hear about your mom, hope she's doing well.

My_Cousin_Mose

Please watch the rated r version of Diehard 4 it’s a better cut of the movie

David Freese

Sure you have the year right for Krampus?

Bill W

These are GREAT weeks!

Terry Yelmene

My Christmas favorites: 1. A Christmas Carol (1951). This version with Alister Sim is the best. 2. A Christmas Memory (1966). Written and narrated by Truman Capote. 3. Christmas in Connecticut (1945). RomCom with Barbara Stanwyck. 4. Noel (2004). Star studded Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams, Penelope Cruz, Alan Alda, Paul Walker. 5. The Bishops Wife (1947). Stars Cary Grant at his best. 6. The Holiday (2006). Another star studded xmas movie. Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Jack Black, Eli Wallach. 7. Jingle All the Way (1996). Arnold S. does a Christmas Movie. Elves, get to da chopper!

Timothy Crandall

Hi Cassie! I just joined your Patreon, and I’m excited to be part of the community! I wanted to dive right into this conversation and add my Christmas movie recommendations. 1. Love Actually (I know you love a good love story… this movie will give you several). 2. Gremlins (adorable, lots of fun, with some laughs and jump scares added in). 3. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (goofball comedy with some tender moments sprinkled in). What am I most excited about for December? Xmas lights on the house, Xmas decorations inside, seasonal candles in the family room, and putting up the tree with my daughters. Looking forward to your December line up. Popcorn in Bed is by far the best reaction channel I have seen. Thank you ( and Carly!) for doing what you do!

Dan M

I believe she's seen them

Sahitya

Die hard 4 is an underrated action film. I feel Its def better than the 2nd and that its also incredibly well shot. I think it's aged well.

Sahitya

My favorite Christmas movie is The Homecoming (1971). It was the pilot for The Waltons tv show.

Stuart Guthrie Jr.

Xmas film suggestions : Babes In Toyland 1934 starring Laurel & Hardy (Musical/Xmas), The Bishop`s Wife 1947 starring Cary Grant (Comedy/Fantasy), Scrooge 1951 starring Alistair Sim (Fantasy/Thriller), 1941 film 1979 starring John Belushi (Comedy/War), Scrooged 1988 starring Bill Murray (Comedy/Fantasy), A Mom For Xmas 1990 starring Olivia Newton-John (Comedy/Drama), Mrs. Miracle 2009 starring Doris Roberts (Comedy/Fantasy), The latter two are both Tv movies but I think you would also enjoy them.

Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast

👍 (-: I hope you have a Merry Christmas. :-)

Larry Darrell

Christmas movies- The Hebrew Hammer (2003) - 70% sure Cassie would hate it, but you never know. Yes, Virginia (2009)- short. Would need paired with another short show, maybe The Goof Troop Christmas Special (1992)? But probably Family Man (2000) or Trapped In Paradise (1994) would be the best received.

Mike Lemon

Honestly a great Christmas movie you should check out is the new movie The Holdovers. It will be out on video on demand tomorrow and it's an absolutely fantastic movie. I think you'd absolutely love it.

Stranger2Reality

Family Man is a great Nic Cage flick and Edward Scissorhands is Johnny Depp at his best. I think it was his performance in this movie that really made people sit up and take notice his brilliance.

Tara

Also Prancer for the Christmas poll. Great potential for a Cassie favorite on that one with Sam Elliott (he was Virgil from Tombstone)

Shawn Kildal

Um....the Bourne movies?

Jacob Lantom

For a Christmas poll I'd like to mention Holiday Inn, The Shop Around The Corner, the 1994 version of Miracle on 34th Street, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and a little known little gem called The 12 Dates of Christmas starring Amy Smart & Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack from Saved By the Bell).

Shawn Kildal

My suggestion for Christmas movie is Bad Santa. I think Cassie’s reaction would be similar to Tucker and Dale vs Evil: lots of appalled laughter, completely aware that she SHOULDN’T be laughing, but unable to help herself. For something older and (admittedly) sweeter, I’d recommend The Shop Around the Corner featuring Jimmy Stewart. Great movie.

Just Plain Bob

Slightly unconventional Christmas choice: “Catch Me If You Can,” with Leo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. A sweet feel-good Nicolas Cage Christmas film: “Trapped In Paradise.” And a couple musicals: “Annie” and “Rent.”

Alex Ch

Might be the worst month in movies in the two plus years I've subscribed.

Gideon James

A big YES to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Great movie that I feel certain Cassie would love. It’s got investigation, comedy, a love story and great buddy cop chemistry between Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer. Other than Real Genius, Kilmer is at his funniest here.

Just Plain Bob

Christmas films: Gremlins, Fatman. I don't remember if it's a Christmas time movie, but A Simple Plan definitely takes place in the winter.

Brent Petty

It's not a Christmas movie, per se, but since you liked "The Great Escape", you might enjoy "Stalag 17", which is set around Christmastime.

Tim Heron

Cassie, if you decide to do one more episode of Star Trek, please make it Balance of Terror. It’s a superb episode that shows Kirk in all his strategic glory. It also has some nice storytelling re: Spock and showcases some in-world technology that is important to the movie series, but which isn’t addressed in any other episode of the tv series. GREAT episode.

Just Plain Bob

:-) Long live the Princess Caraboo!

Happy Hanukkah

Does The Room (2003) qualify? It sure reminds me of my family's holiday get-togethers! (Off topic, I just saw some stills of Tom Holland in The Crowded Room. Dude can pull off scary.)

Happy Hanukkah

Seconding Enemy of the State 👍

mikethemotormouth

I hate Kevin Kline because he stole my teenage CRUSH...Pheobe Cates! I will never forgive him.

Barry Justice

I second Coming To America. Would also be fitting one year after Trading Places.

Shehab Dawoud

My Xmas movie noms: Home Alone(1990) and/or Home Alone 2: Lost in New York(1992) not sure if you've seen either A Christmas Story(1983) and it's sequel A Christmas Story Christmas(2022) Trapped in Paradise(1994) Krampus(2015)

mikethemotormouth

For those of us that didn't get enough scary over Halloween, throw us a frigging bone here. 1. Krampus (2015) This movie provides a gentle reminder of what happens when children lose their festive spirit. 2. Needful Things (1993) Steven King movie about the dangers of materialism and coveting material things. I hope we can sprinkle a little thriller throughout the year. What say you fellow corn balls?

Barry Justice

And it wraps up (Undiscovered) with a confrontation with another Canadian acting legend.

Happy Hanukkah

Wow, there's a lot of crime going on this Christmas season, Cassie. Sounds like you and Ben and your kids got a "gift" that came home with you from Mexico. As for Christmas movies, you've pretty much seen all of the big titles, so here are my recommendations..... Edward Scissorhands (1990) The Shop Around the Corner (1940) Family Man (2000) Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) For tomorrow's Butter hang-out, can we skip the watch-along, and just hang out and talk about cereal again? :D As for me, just getting ready for Christmas, and enjoy the anticipation for it. Also, I think someone very special around here is getting a little birthday present. ;)

Mark Vaderr

Wait, how has Cassie not seen NATIONAL LAMPOON CHRISTMAS VACATION? I must amend my suggestion so that she watches this. She didn't really like VACATION when she saw that, but I think she would like the Christmas one.

Mike LL

Say, why don't you make it a family event and rent out a theatre again? I've got the perfect movie for you. Coming this Christmas to a theatre near you: Nature Trail to Hell (in 3-D)! More seriously: It's not a Christmas movie, but what about Coming to America (1988)? A fun, wholesome (!) Eddie Murphy romantic comedy. If you insist, here's an honest-to-goodness Christmas movie: Scrooge (1970), starring the great Albert Finney as well as a fellow you might recognize called Alec Guinness.

Happy Hanukkah

"Office Christmas Party" is a bit of fun. Also, "Sister" (2015) with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler is very loosely a Christmas movie, and also very fun. Both, especially "Sisters", would be great with Carly.

Mojo One Thousand

2 more Christmas movies Robbie The Reindeer. (A short comedy film) Enemy Of The State (Action film starring Gene Hackman)

ROBERT CLARK

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang to Christmas. RDJ Val Kilmer and the writer of lethal weapon is the perfect mix

Wes

Number one is awesome!

Jose Perez

Jingle All The Way and Ernest Saves Christmas has my vote

ROBERT CLARK

I am entirely on board a Trouble With Tribbles and Trials and Tribble-ations combo!

Walter

I'm with you for The Snowman and Santa Clause The Movie

ROBERT CLARK

Mirror Mirror.👍

rakesh

1. The Long Kiss Goodnight (Geena Davis & Samuel L. Jackson). Spy thriller, Humor. Homemaker, with help of a private eye, discovers more about her life during the Christmas season. 2. The Ref (Kevin Spacey, Denis Leary, Judy Davis). Comedic drama: Cat burglar gets more holiday drama than he bargained for.

Ike

Since you’re watching a Kevin Kline movie please watch French Kiss with him and Meg Ryan. One of my favorites.

Andy Perezchica

She has. How about Coming to America (1988) instead? OK, not quite a Christmas movie, but it has snow... :-)

Happy Hanukkah

You gotta see Happiest Season. Such a beatiful, funny movie.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

How to have everything freshly hot on your plate at the same time? Years and Years of Practicing your Cooking Order. And keeping things covered on the stove after their done. Larry Darrell

Haha, good one. 😄

Zane From Canada

lol. c'mon man.

rakesh

Also, The Long Kiss Goodnight and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Action/comedy films that take place at Christmas written by Shane Black (Lethal Weapon(s). 😄

Zane From Canada

Star Trek Episode poll?? My suggestions are of course Journey to Babel, The Doomsday Machine and Mirror, Mirror.

Shawn Kildal

Should watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It won't matter if you haven't seen European Vacation. All the vacation movies are virtually stand alone, the kids are never played by the same actor twice.

Ryan Geiger

"The Long Kiss Goodnight" is my suggestion for the Christmas Movie Poll.

Cheshire

Christmas Film recommendation: the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol. It's title, "Scrooge" starring Alistair Sim in the title role. Michael Hordern as Jacob Marley and a young Patrick MacNee ("The Avengers", not associated with anything in the Marvel Universe.) Excellent film that tugs at your heart. It does mine every time I see it.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

I respect your opinion, but I have to say I think Batman (1989) is better. For me, you can't have a Batman movie without the Joker in it and I love Jack Nicolson's performance in that film. Also I think the finale is more exciting and epic than the finale in Batman Returns (1992)

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Oh wait, I just remembered one more Christmas film you might want to check out. "Eyes Wide Shut" (1999) Starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

Jake McNulty

To be able to see Sneakers for the first time, envious...

Brian's Dog

I watched Star Trek with you I still couldn't get into it. I tried so hard for you. Just couldn't do it. Oh well. Watching your reaction was good enough. Thank you for yet another week of awesome movies. I look forward to it. I am so grateful for your channel Cassie.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Christmas Movie Suggestions: "Meet John Doe" - from the same director who did "It's A Wonderful Life." "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" by the Lethal Weapon writer and starring Robert Downey Jr, Val Kilmer and Michelle Monaghan. "A Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott (there are several versions). "Christmas in Connecticut," (a 40s movie) "About A Boy" (British with Hugh Grant)- which has a great Christmas scene that really brings the movie home.

Above Average Dave

@Popcorn In Bed, "Okay!...Cassie, my noms for the `Christmas Poll' are: `Krampus(2015-THIS MAY TRAUMATIZE YOUR CHRISTMAS)&...`Violent Night'(2022-THINK SANTA CLAUS AS JOHN WICK, BUT THE VIOLENCE IS MORE GRAPHIC, BUT DESPITE THAT, I THINK YOU & CARLY WOULD LIKE IT). I`m glad you had a great Thanksgiving, I hope the kids get better soon, looking forward too all your upcoming reactions, TAKE CARE-BE BLESSED!!!"

Bridget

Well Yippee Ki-Yay's all around!!! I hope you watched the watched the Unrated/Collectors Edition. (more scenes, more action) Really looking forward for this lineup. A Fish Called Wanda and Sneakers are funny and entertaining. Christmas movies to consider: Bad Santa (funniest, dirtiest Christmas movie I've ever seen) The Family Man (I've only seen parts of this. Nicolas Cage in an alternate universe of sorts. Very classy, very rom-com. Gremlins (Could qualify as a scary-but-not-too-scary Christmas movie. You'll love Gizmo.) Bishops Wife or Preacher's Wife (I've only seen The Preacher's Wife with Denzel Washington and Whitney Houston. Denzel is an angel in this one. 😇) The Ref (Very hilarious. A cat burglar takes a family hostage but the family are nuts and drive him crazy.) The Package (Assassination thriller with Gene Hackman and Tommy Lee Jones. Takes place during Christmas but doesn't make the Christmas movie list(s) I think it's a hidden gem.) I haven't checked your "Watched List" in a while.

Zane From Canada

Let me guess: your fellow Canadian Jen has been raving about how great Trek: TOS is. :) (And yes, Shatner is also Canadian.)

Paul Stelter

Well since you asked for some Christmas film recommendations, I might have a few for you to consider: Miracle on 34th Street (1994) - A remake of the classic film I believe you watched last year. Arthur Christmas (2011) The Snowman (1982) The Small One (1978) Prancer (1989) Santa Claus: The Movie (1985) - Not the one staring Tim Allen Scrooge (1970) Olive, the Other Reindeer (1999) Black Christmas (1974) - That is if you're looking for something a little different Unaccompanied Minors (2006)

Jake McNulty

Well, so sorry the kids got sick, too—but isn't that a given. Glad you are all rallying. As for Thanksgiving, I can relate to the "hot" thing. I had 28 people over to a condo one year and I was working with a galley kitchen. Had to fire-up the gas grill to make the timing almost right (though the microwave was key). Even then...well...most of my family likes wine, so it was a win for them. Thanks so much for these! Can't wait to see your reactions to A Fish Called Wanda and Inside Man.

Above Average Dave

Christmas movies : 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬 > has that great christmas song! 𝐊𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐊𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠 > its a bit of a stretch. Star Trek The Original Series Bonus ep "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀" It's a silly fun episode. The payoff comes after 30 years with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's special anniversary episode. It uses CGI to include storyline, scenes, and characters from the original Star Trek series (TOS) into a DS9 episode.

rakesh

Violent night is a fun Christmas movie for the whole family. Just kidding about the whole family part but it is a fun movie.

Alex Gorell

"A Fish Called Wanda" is hilarious !!!! "Sneakers" is a great movie and an even greater cast. Wish you nothing but the best

Bill Maurer

"It appears there is going to be a lot of crime occurring on the channel in the next week..." Uh oh. Feet, start moving! :-)

Happy Hanukkah

I’m all for 2 more Star Trek episodes! I’m so happy you’re finally watching it!

Cody Nelson

Yay!!!! So excited to see you watch A Fish Called Wanda, it's such a wonderful movie!

sarCC

Bad Santa.

Andrew Ramos

Well I've been cooking holiday meals for 40 years. Ya get to know how long it takes to cook things 😀

Randolph Tirazona

How about Gremlins for a Christmas pick. I don't know if you've seen it before.

ROBERT CLARK

Sorry you had a bit of a rough holiday weekend. Looking forward to more Star Trek. The episodes today were fun. I actually thought you were going to do a regular live tomorrow and get a head start on all the holiday packages coming your way but if you want to do a movie that's fine too. Although I've only seen Die Hard. I don't really know much about the other two. As for holiday movies that you might not have seen. . . The Family Man I've been recommending for a few years but I think you're already planning to watch that one. Another is the 1994 Miracle On 34th Street. I know you reacted to the original, I think last year but the remake is very sweet and charming. I think you'd love it and I'd love to see your reaction to it as I watch it almost every year. I hope everyone's feeling better and everything goes more smoothly for Christmas

Katie Jackson

It actually takes place on July 4th, but she already got talked into watching it.

Mike LL

A Tim Burton double feature for Christmas: Edward Scissorhands and Batman Returns! The former you'd really love despite its moments of Tim Burton weirdness, I think we all agree on that. That's all I'll say. As for Batman Returns, it's much better than its predecessor. More cohesive story/plot, better female lead in Michelle Pfeiffer, two great villains in Christopher Walken, and Danny DeVito as The Penguin, his best performance. We need redemption after the first one..

Shehab Dawoud

Bonus Star Trek the Trouble with Tribbles - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

R Harper

In regards to the Die Hard movies; I don't know if you have ever seen this 2009 interview of Alan Rickman talking about filming his death scene at the end of the first Die Hard (1988). It's an interesting watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLt9-cvf2XI

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

For a Christmas movie, you can't do better than the 1951 Alastair Sim version of "A Christmas "Carol"! Every Christmas Eve, my family and I watch that and "It's a Wonderful Life."

Ben Livingstone

It appears there is going to be a lot of crime occurring on the channel in the next week as well as another exiting venture out into space with familiar chracters. This is what it is all about people! Enjoy! As far as what Christmas movies should be on a poll, I don't know as you've already seen A Christmas Story and you've watched the classic Christmas movies I wanted you most to see (It's A Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street). I guess all that's left is some of the classic Christmas TV specials like Charlie Brown Christmas and The Grinch. Edit: I think Cassie should like NATIONAL LAMPOON CHRISTMAS VACATION. It really is the best of the Vacation movies and it is a great Christmas movie. It's all about family, you know? 🤣

Mike LL

Hang on a sec. Does that mean you are accepting Die Hard is Christmas movie now.😂 Certainly sounds like it with that post. I do not remember too much about DH4, but I certainly do not remember it being Christmasy. Granted it was said with a wink, but we can always hope to swing you around to our way of thinking 1😁

Brian McGovern

Never too early to be thinking about Christmas. My personal wish list for you this December is to watch Hawkeye (set at Christmas) and the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special from last year so you can get to GOTG3. Sorry about the sickness, ‘Tis the season.😔

Cole Jennett

As for Christmas film choices. I recommend National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. I will suggest others later.

ROBERT CLARK

For Christmas movies, I'd love to see a reaction for "The Ref" from 1994. A great dark comedy set on Christmas Eve in one of the most Christmassy little towns I've seen in a movie! And what a great lineup this week. Looking forward to them all!

Future Boy

Die Hard 4.0 is not a Christmas film, but I'm excited that you are finally getting round to it. Is Carly joining us for it?

ROBERT CLARK

Personally I'm ready for 2023 to be over. Between my mom's breast cancer, me hurting my back, and my dad's stress from his church going totally independent from the United Methodists, this year sucked lol

William Bryan

AWESOME! Live Free or Die Hard is my second favorite from that franchise (nothing beats the first)!

Pearl Jam

Which cut of Live Free or Die Hard did y’all watch?
